Campbell’s Jack-O-Lantern Soup!

soupyIf you haven't checked the site since last week, boy have you missed a lot. We're now in Day 6 of the Halloween Countdown (okay, Day 3, but there are six entries), with September 14th's article paying tribute to Campbell's Jack-O-Lantern Pasta Soup, an old can of SOUP donated by a wonderful reader named Kelly who completely gets me and understands my unending love for old cans of soup.

Meanwhile, the poor Kool-Aid Section and Cereal Prize Project shed a tear, just now realizing that they're not going to be updated until freakin' November. Time ain't on my side, but in a perfect world, I'd use those sections' downtime for the powers of good by reformatting 'em a bit for a grand reopening when we finish up with Halloween. I feel like the Kool-Aid stuff had good traction, but the cereal prize pages could really use a makeover and a few other bits of nonsense. They'll be back someday.

Manimal, you'll be happy to know that the Friday the 13th: Part III theme is among the new entries soon to be added to the Halloween Jukebox.

Edit: Should've linked this earlier, but about two weeks ago I contributed two entries to Olllld Friend Brandon's fabulous 50 Greatest Movie Fight Scenes list. Really fun article that y'all should get to checkin'.

And, a survey: Is there any song missing from the Halloween Jukebox? Come on. There must be some.

So, when do the most newcomers pop up here, Hallowe’en, or Chistmas?

Chestnuts roasted by kingklash @ 09/14/2005 3:57 PM

Matt, Aside from setting a record today for probably most posts on your blog, I can’t seem to launch your jukebox now! :( When I try to open it in ITunes it doesn’t play and in WinAMP all I get is a message saying error connecting with the URL. HELP.

As always great stuff. Can’t wait to read the rest of the countdown.

How about "Slime Creatures from Outer Space" by Weird Al Yankovic
or "Attack of the Radioactive Hamsters from a Planet Near Mars" also by Weird Al?

I second the "Suspira" theme by Goblin, they also did the soundtrack for "Zombi", which has some good songs on it as well.

I would have to say the entirety of All Hallow’s EP by AFI. I’d also kinda like to recommend My Chemical Romance, but I think it’s kinda insulting to include them in a Halloween jukebox just because. Yes, I care about their feelings, and yes I’m a pre-Helena fan. Hell, I loved ‘em before I’m Not Okay (I Promise) took off :)

Use "Vampires Will Never Hurt You" if you must :D Note: It’s not really about Vampires

Alice Coopers welcome to my nightmare performed with jim hensons muppets is a must for any halloween related countdown

Yep I agree with Alice Cooper’s performed with Jimmy Henso’s Muppets but to be truthfull i really dont know….and im not tryin to take a pass or anything .. i just really dont know. As ‘great’ as that is, it just cant draw a dime.

Personally Id have to go with Ya Mustafa from Stephan Mourad. Well sung well designed supremely written has all the elements of a texas sized slobberkocker—

In closin i say simply this

Cherie je t’aime cheri je t’adore comme la salsa et comme la pomme….YYYYYYYYYYYYYA MUSTAFA

I don’t think the different colored pasta shapes decayed at different rates – on the can’s picture, some are orange and some are tan. But then ago, I’m not the one examining the stuff in real life, so I don’t know.

*I meant "But then again…"

I know its not a Halloween song but Tom Waits ‘Gods away on business’ is the creepiest song ever.

This may be a little too late, but I’m surprised no one mentioned Nightmare on My Street by D.J. Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. It’s basically another Freddy song, but it’s bad ass.
