Our official movie of the night: A Nightmare on Elm Street: Part II, airing on Encore at 10:35 PM. (And for others, at different times, and for others, at no time at all. Buy the damn DVD.) The Monday after next marks the start of X-E’s 2005 Halloween Countdown – yay!

Edit: It’s Sunday. Keep posting.

What if every thing you just posted was all a dream? Maybe somene is just dreaming me at work, posting. I like the "Sleep Deprivation" episode of M*A*S*H, especially the part where Father Mulcahy was listening to the soldier’s confession. As the Padre would begin to nod off, the kid’s words would begin to make no sense, snapping back to normal as he would jump awake. Next time you catch the ep, check it out. It was years before I caught on to the trick.

I’m at work as well…boo! People are getting pissy about their kid’s costumes. I just want to scream at most of them.

Anyone got any big plans for today?

Wow, look what happened while I was gone :)

I was/am philosophy & religious studies minor too, Cam. I know I’m the minority but the trilogy gets better as it goes.

Dirty Little Secret: I saw the original in theatres, but didn’t even become obsessed or think about it until I was dragged to Reloaded. I was only dragged the first time. The other 2 times I initiated the outing :P

Gremlins 2 is on HBO Family right now. The gremmies are just busting out of their cocoons.

This movie makes me beg the question: would you actually take stock advice from a gremlin?

Ghosted by AJ @ 09/05/2005 1:34 PM EDT

Oooh I’ve never seen this version before (the Hulk Hogan one)…now I know that the correct phrase is gremsters. What’s the story with the DVD set, which version does it have?

Ghosted by squee4242 @ 09/05/2005 1:42 PM EDT

Don’t know which version is on the DVD set, but I sure enjoy Hulk making a mess with the popcorn and soda better than John Wayne shooting the Gremlins.

And for the record, canned food and shotguns are a great stock tip… no matter what the source.

Mr.Boligarky is right. There’s always gonna be nutty survivalists.

The Gremlins DVD has BOTH versions of the scene! One in the film (the theatrical version) and the other version is included as a supliment. :)

Damn this site is awesome. I was wondering if you’ve ever covered The Barbarian Brothers! Those guys were awesome. I remember them making a movie where they were truck drivers and were superstitious. Classic 80s. I don’t know if you’ve seen the article by Rob Bloom or not but he’s written a funny tribute to the Barbarians at http://www.robbloom.com/creative/barbarian.htm

Speaking of Nightmare, Amazon just released the boxed set for $42! The cheapest I’ve seen it in a retail store is in the neighborhood of $75+. Just in time for Halloween, enjoy!!

Starwenn, you live in Rio Grande, right? I live almost an hour from there in Little Egg Harbor, Ocean County (NOT Egg Harbor, Atlantic County!). I’m looking for job too. Communications is hard to crack when you live in the Philadelphia area. Seems I don’t wanna go work in New York (2 hour commute on NJ Transit bus). I’d rather commute 70-90 minutes to Center City to work.

And yes, people have family to those kind of jobs you explained.

I feel your pain.

Oh yeah. My *Bad Dream*.

I wound up in an episode of Quantum Leap I watched on October 29,2001. The reason I remember the date was that the Halloween episode aired on October 30, and no ep aired on Halloween.

The episode was "Shock Theater" (last ep of the 3rd season). Sam loses his memory of everything and starts re-living prevous leaps as the people he replaced in those leaps. He talked like them, acted like them, and even walked like them. Creepy as anything. Problem was, because he mesons and neurons were whacked out, he began losing contact of Al. Al starts fading until he’s pretty much gone. Figure out for yourself how it ends. Trust me, it went on for 2 more seasons, so the ending couldn’t have been horrible.

Anyway, the dream. Instead of it being Sam, it was ME. Problem was, I just was suffering from a worse case of amnesia after the shock treatment than Sam suffered in the pilot episode. Couldn’t recall a thing. At least Sam knew his first name. Anyway, Al kept disappearing on me. I kept freaking out. I even started crying like Sam did in the episode–except I was REALLY crying!!!!!!! This turmultuous nightmare lasted a good 2 hours before I woke up scared to death. It felt like it really happened, except it could NEVER have happened. The situation never even existed.

Moral of the story–DO NOT watch "Shock Theater" with all the lights out at midnight. If you do watch it at midnight, KEEP THE FRICKIN’ LIGHTS ON!!!!!!!!

By the way, I have watched it since. In broad daylight. It is a really superb episode.
