Our official movie of the night: A Nightmare on Elm Street: Part II, airing on Encore at 10:35 PM. (And for others, at different times, and for others, at no time at all. Buy the damn DVD.) The Monday after next marks the start of X-E’s 2005 Halloween Countdown – yay!

Edit: It’s Sunday. Keep posting.

My saturday nights usually suck. Oh how I envy people with social lives…

Ghosted by Chilipeppers @ 09/03/2005 3:19 PM EDT

So, to kick off the halloween related shit, what do you guys without social lives plan to do fer halloween? Thankfully I haven’t exhausted my money beforehand, so I am in the middle of constructing a Cthulhu costume. The wings and tentacles are a bitch, though.

Ghosted by TRUKK NOT MUNKY @ 09/03/2005 3:23 PM EDT

Matt! I enjoyed your contribution to Progressive Boink! Hooray!

Ghosted by Evin @ 09/03/2005 3:24 PM EDT

The reason I don’t nowadays is because all my friends are pretty much gone since we all graduated this june.

I may try to do something cool this Halloween, like take my girlfriend to some of the scary things they plan in my town, like the haunted corn maze. That’s usually pretty badass.

Ghosted by Chilipeppers @ 09/03/2005 3:25 PM EDT

Now that I’ve graduated from college (and am, by extension, an old, old man) I plan on sitting around at home on Halloween, scaring children who happen by. You know, more than usual. Although I do plan on putting something spooky on the door of my apartment. Like a cardboard spider. Or perhaps a pumpkin. Or a severed head.

Ghosted by Jedoc @ 09/03/2005 3:33 PM EDT

I’m stuck at work all night…which means I’ll be in and out of here all night. Whoot! I never saw NoES II, but I did watch a movie called "Freaked" the other night. Interesting, to say the least…anyone else ever seen it? Oh, and feel free to click on my name.

Ghosted by Kyle @ 09/03/2005 3:35 PM EDT

Freaked is a classic, and Alex Winter is a GENIUS.

Who’s pulling for Bill and Ted 3?

Ghosted by AJ @ 09/03/2005 3:44 PM EDT

In regards to Halloween plans: I have been put in charge of decorating the office, which means that this children’s toy company is going to emanate the stench of death for the entire month of October. I’m looking for a skeleton or two. Luckily my friend Chris, who drives a hearse, just got a job here, so that should help with the ambiance. Outside of work, I’m not sure what I’ll be doing…but the girl I’ve been seeing lately has a bunch of ideas, so we’ll see. All I know is that if I don’t eat at least two handfuls of candy corn and candy pumpkins, it’ll be a wasted Halloween.

Ghosted by Kyle @ 09/03/2005 3:50 PM EDT

Oh yes – Bill and Ted 3 would be the greatest thing since…uh…Bill and Ted 2. Which I’ve never seen. But I loved the first one.

Ghosted by Kyle @ 09/03/2005 3:52 PM EDT

Dang! There’s a showing of Godzilla:Final Wars tonight at 8pm in my town. No way I’ll make it back in time for the group film-a-thon!

Ghosted by Jenno @ 09/03/2005 3:53 PM EDT

No Encore on my cable system, damn me. Maybe I’ll buy a Freddy mask and that Pizza Slice costume from Wally-world and run around town tonight. "Freddy’s your hand-tossed now, baby!"

Ghosted by kingklash @ 09/03/2005 3:54 PM EDT

I have no idea what I’ll be doing for Halloween this year. Since I’m not currently taking college courses I’ll probably have time to do something this year… but what?

I’ll probably end up on candy distribution duty again this year. That’s fine with me–it guarantees me an assload of free candy and gives me the option to dress up if I want to.

I’m so unmotivated though, about pretty much everything. Maybe something will pop up to spark my Halloween passion this year. I hope so.

Ghosted by Night_Trekker @ 09/03/2005 5:02 PM EDT

I think I’m going to take a break from X-E. I hate Halloween and Christmas (indifferent to thanksgiving). Sorry to be a downer.

Ghosted by dohopoki @ 09/03/2005 5:15 PM EDT

*GASP!* You don’t mean that! Do you, dohopoki?

(sound of kingklash running off to stick his head in a bucket of candy corn until the numbness passes)

Ghosted by kingklash @ 09/03/2005 5:23 PM EDT

Well, seeing as I have no power and no cable due to Katrina (I am currently at work soaking up AC and internet) I will not be watching any TV tonight. However as a Nightmare fan, I can say that 2 is my least favorite. That’s how many times I’ve seen it. 2.

Ghosted by violetdied @ 09/03/2005 5:27 PM EDT

See I always liked the idea of 2. That being said, I would have liked it more if 2 was the last one. Then it’d be more acceptable. With that, too, being said. I like all the others better.

The one thing I always wanted to see though would be Freddy just watching people’s dreams to find out their fears. That would be creepier to me than him outright killing you. Just knowing he is watching would give me quite the case of the willies.

Ghosted by AJ @ 09/03/2005 5:52 PM EDT

(from the depths of the bucket)
Especially if you realize he’s also watching your sexy dreams!

Ghosted by kingklash with a nose-full of candy corn and one of those pumpkin-shaped candies @ 09/03/2005 5:56 PM EDT

I don’t think all that candy’s good for your sinuses, but then again, I’m not a doctor.

Ghosted by violetdied @ 09/03/2005 6:00 PM EDT

I wonder if he stole people’s women from their sexy dreams to keep himself satisfied. That’s what I’d do.

Ghosted by AJ @ 09/03/2005 6:01 PM EDT

My grandparents lived on an Elm Street when I was a kid, right next door to a big, scary house. Having said that, you can imagine why I never got into those movies… But it does beg the question, what was the scariest dream you ever had?

Ghosted by Mr. Boligarky @ 09/03/2005 6:15 PM EDT

I dreamt I was married to Kathy Griffin and she just didn’t stop talking. Ever. And then my head exploded.

Scariest dream ever. And 100% not a lie, either.

Ghosted by AJ @ 09/03/2005 6:26 PM EDT

Well, for halloween this year I’m thinking of going out trick or treating in a crazy elaborate costume that hides my true age. Seeing as how I’m well over trick or treating age, I want to fool people into thinking I’m some crazy kid. Plus, free candy, boo ya! I’m also seriously considering going to this http://www.valleyoffear.com . It’s some huge haunted house/hayride/corn maze in bucks county PA and it has a pretty good website.

I had this one dream one time that I was chasing these little kids from robbing a gap store. I chased them through these caverns and stuff and eventually we got to a field. On the other side of the field was a wooded area and as I saw the kids approach the wooded area from the other side, I saw a couple of the trees getting knocked over and the kids looking at what was coming with awe. It was this jacked mother on a huge crane wearing kickass sunglasses and a bulletproof vest that had painted on the front "The Suburban". He then proceded to ruin thier shit by hitting them with the crane. By the way, did I mention this was the most badass dream I ever had?

Ghosted by Tenacious Tate @ 09/03/2005 6:39 PM EDT

Had a dream with Freddy in it once. It wasn’t scary. It was kind of ridiculous. I was driving him down my street in a blue hatchback.

Ghosted by violetdied @ 09/03/2005 6:46 PM EDT

Once dreamt of a toy from M.A.S.K. and when I awoke I ran to the pantry, where in my dream I’d left it, and was extremely disappointed to not find it waiting for me.

Ghosted by Kyle @ 09/03/2005 7:30 PM EDT

Watched GHOULIES I and II this morning thanks to the double feature from Netflix. I think the sequel was better (which is rare as we all know).
Getting into the HALLOWEEN spirit myself. Bought some cheap whatnots at the Dollar Store yesterday and watched TREEHOUSE OF HORROR 2 and 3 earlier this week.
I like how on the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET collector’s DVD it states that part 2 is essentially (albeit unintentionally) a metaphor for homosexuality. Once one thinks of the movie in those terms, it makes a lot more sense. Watch it and you will see it. Either that or you can wonder why everything bursts into flames in that movie (???).

Ghosted by The Manimal @ 09/03/2005 7:36 PM EDT

Right now, I’m so tired, I’m not thinking of what I’m doing tomorrow, much less next month. I’m trying to find a job doing something I enjoy more and gives me steadier hours than working in a grocery store in a town that people think only exists in the summer. The grocery store I currently work at is going to be torn down in about three weeks. Yes, it does need to be replaced and it’s supposed to be done in May, but it’s going to be a pain transferring to an off-island store (I can’t afford a car) and trying to haul all my groceries home on my bike or the bus this winter. If I’m going to leave this store, I might as well get out all together. I’m just having a hard time finding a job as a writer or an editor or a receptionist or a secretary – seems people have friends and reletives to do those jobs.

Ghosted by starwenn @ 09/03/2005 7:46 PM EDT

Yup, part 2 is homosexual as can be – but in a hilarious way – a must see if you haven’t seen it.

Ghosted by d @ 09/03/2005 8:13 PM EDT

I never really thought about it like that. Though I did notice how the X-Men movies were pretty much a big homosexual reference. I mean in X2 where Iceman "comes out" to his parents.

Sooo gay.

Ghosted by AJ @ 09/03/2005 8:20 PM EDT

I’m too old for Halloween as evidenced by the fact that my costumes were getting lazier and lazeir. The last time I went trick-or-treating me and my friend drew goatees on with brown marker and went as our evil twins.

Ghosted by Wyatt @ 09/03/2005 9:18 PM EDT

I don’t get Encore, but Dirty Dancing just started, and Uncle buck too! Crappy Cable.

When I was like 4 or 5 I had a dream that the Incredible Hulk picked up my house, laid down and put it on his stomach then waited for us to walk outside so he could grab us. I probably should have skipped watching that show.

Ghosted by kb @ 09/03/2005 9:28 PM EDT

Probably. I do find it weird that I find Lou Ferrigno more frightening than the CG Hulk from the movie, which I did really really like. Also, the Return of the Incredible Hulk is the greatest movie ever. I mean, come on, THOR was in it!

Ghosted by AJ @ 09/03/2005 9:31 PM EDT

Hmmmm, just checking in and I guess it’s going to be a sleeper tonight.
MATT and whoever else, I forgot to mention that I found a 1990 DICK TRACY magnetic facial hair toy at the local Dollar Store. It is from 1990 and is Disney authorized and everything. Not bad for a dollar but the original asking price was 2.19. No wonder it took 15 years to sell. I also got the Halloween stuff. Are you guys familiar with the toy MUTANT FREAKS? Looks like good stuff. If you want to see pics (for whatever reason), click the name.

What about John Carpenter? That whole bleak, falls eason light all his movies are shot in in Halloween to me. I have to watch some Season of The Witch now…"2 More Months Till Halloween…SILVER SHAMROCK!!!!!"

Manimal – Great Dick Tracy find! My all time favorite merchandise was the official Dick Tracy badge.

Did we make a Nightmare 2 timeslot mistake?

Ghosted by Carri @ 09/03/2005 11:22 PM EDT

For me it’s on at 11:35

As in starting right now.

Also, I always liked the watch. Everyone had the Dick Tracy watch though.

Ghosted by AJ @ 09/03/2005 11:36 PM EDT

It’s on now for me too.

Ghosted by Carri @ 09/03/2005 11:38 PM EDT

Dammit. I’m actually doing stuff for once and miss an attempt to have a Bill & Ted discussion. I am seriously disappointed with myself. Again, happy belated B-day to the man himself. Kyle, you cannot call yourself a Bill & Ted fan without having seen Bogus Journey.

STATION!

See, if you’d seen it you would have totally got that. The box set’s first printings apparently had a phone sex number mixed into the box art. For once, already owning something has cost me. I could have had one of those fine pieces of rare Keanu merchandise. But no, I’ve owned B & T for years and haven’t bought it yet. Grrr.

I recall Keanu saying he was willing to do 3. Trilogy here we come. Not like Alex is doing anything. Wait, he’s doing a biopic on somebody, right?

Ghosted by Knegative @ 09/03/2005 11:46 PM EDT

And Keanu and Alex Winter do still talk about it. The plan is to wait til they are both 50ish and do "old Bill and Ted"

And yes, I so own the box set. Haven’t found that phone sex number, though.

So how about that random rake for no reason in Freddy’s basement?

Ghosted by AJ @ 09/03/2005 11:50 PM EDT

Was it the Napster dude? Help me out AJ. You seem like the Alex devotee. And I’m too lazy to check imdb right now :P

Ghosted by Knegative @ 09/03/2005 11:51 PM EDT

I can’t remember, all I know is it is called The Best Man, and that made me happy. Because Alex, is, indeed, the best man.

Ghosted by AJ @ 09/03/2005 11:54 PM EDT

Oh yeah, he IS also doing the Napster Bio-pic too. Wow. that’s TWO projects. Thank you IMDB.

Ghosted by AJ @ 09/03/2005 11:59 PM EDT

I love how the record melts on Jesse’s nightstand but the cassette tapes don’t. That just show’s the pure 80s power of the cassette once again triumphing over vinyl.

Ghosted by Carri @ 09/04/2005 12:00 PM EDT

In the spirit of comraderie, I’m going to let that one slide :D But you know what I want to say. I own Hardball, Little Buddha, and Johnny Mnemonic. Hardcore!!!

Ghosted by Knegative @ 09/04/2005 12:01 PM EDT

Yeah, but he’s writing that. Way to not read.

Ghosted by theed @ 09/04/2005 12:01 PM EDT

oh maybe I shouldn’t have unwrapped that damn glove!!

Ghosted by kidneyboy @ 09/04/2005 12:01 PM EDT

Well of course, Carri, I mean how can vinyl match the sheer awesomeness of casette power? It’s funny though that in just a few more years there’d be CDs. And yes, you are the most hardcore Keanu fan ever.

Oh and theed, you are write. Winter writes the Napster biopic and STARS in a movie called The Best Man. Hardcore.

I need to learn to not be impatient and click the post 3243243 times.

Ghosted by AJ @ 09/04/2005 12:03 PM EDT

I think Dick Tracy and Bill & Ted should be on our movie of the month lists.
