08/21/2005: Just another manic Sunday.
Ahh! I passed out from over-wineage early yesterday. We'll have to do our next Saturday Night Thread next Saturday night, yeah. Meantime, here's the All Day Sunday Buffet Super Special Thread. I'm trying to make up for it, see?
Discussion Thread: 69 comments
Yay, my first first.

I hate Sundays.

Posted by
The Yeti @ 08/21/2005 8:39 AM EDT
…and here's a few reasons why:
-All I can think about on Sundays is how much I don't wanna go to work the next day.
-I hate Jesus.
-I hate Charles Osgood
-I'm normally hungover on Sundays (as I am right now) and bits and pieces of a regrettable Saturday night gradually filter back into my memory.
-No hard liquor sales.
-My local tattoo parlor is closed.
-I REALLY hate Jesus.

Matt - how's Toronto? I went there a few years ago for the Toronto Rocks concert, and had a freakin' blast.
I was never big on Sundays because that meant you had to do homework. Graduation solves that

Matt -
Was looking through a box of my old stuff and guess what I came across. A T-Bone action figure from "Extreme Dinosaurs" (1997), which featured the voice of none other than Gary Chalk (as Bad Rap). If you're interested in it, let me know.

Shit, I remember those! They were so cool, but yet too innapropriate for my young mind to handle. I can sort of remember a version of those toys where they had some type of "war paint" gimmick. Odd.
Winning is good?

I had way too much Pizza and beer last night. It's like I'm sitting on a volcano.
Also Jeremy Horn lost last night. I really didn't expect him to sub Chuck Liddell, and he didn put up a better performance and Randy Couture did last time, but I always like the underdog. Now I wait a week to see if Wanderlei pulls of the Pride GP again this time around.
I'm sure 2 of you know what I'm talking about. http://www.sherdog.com/

You could tell what I was doing last night based on my posts over in the Ghost/Alien/Cryptozoo thread. As middle school as it is, I've taken measures to prevent the debacle that was last Saturday.
Once again, my sincerest apologies Matt.
ooh! Sunday buffet! Let's see, I'll have some lasagna, the roast beef looks good, AMC is showing my favorite Roger Moore Bond film, Live and Let Die, swedish meatballs, some fried okra, I saw the ginormous Starscream Figure (with crown) at my local Wal-Mart, and my Hallowe'en take so far is: two plastic tumblers and cd of the War of the Worlds radio broadcast. Hm, just small pieces of cake for dessert. If I scrape the icing off, it should be all right to eat. Of course I'll eat the icing when noe one is looking….

Yesterday I went to the Sun Prairie Sweet Corn Fest - it was pretty awesome. A tote of like 12 ears of corn only cost $4.00 and you shuck and butter and salt them yourself.
Other highlights, since I know that these sort of events are beloved by X-Ers:
1) We got the Tilt-a-Whirl going ridiciously fast by shifting our weight into the tilts.
2) One of the "games" was literally a couple cider blocks and a bowling ball hanging from the ceiling at the back of the booth and the player was supposed to try to break beer bottles by throwing them at the objects. Very classy.
3) The attitudes of the wanna-be carnies working the rides and games. Not too much job satisfaction there.

And what am I doing? Cleaning my apartment.
Sucks, doesn't it….
I feel a NES gaming session coming on soon…

I don't care if someone has mentioned this before and I missed it. If I did, it deserves to be said again. I only mention this because I assume there may be some cereal eaters is this forum as there may be anywhere. DO NOT under any circumstances eat the cherry pecan flavored Archer Farms cereal that Target is offering. It's like somebody tasted a cherry and started a personal vendetta/smear campaign against them. I had to brush my teeth just to get the disgusting taste out of my mouth and it still hangs on my palette a little bit. We all eventually have to try new things in life, but avoid this stuff.

I give Matt a big thumbs up for rectifying past minor oversights. Your "I know I messed up but I am trying to make it all better" is a shining example to dead beat dads everywhere.
Sunday: the inevitable downer. Yes, it's technically part of the weekend but ironically the day when one thinks about work the most.
Geez, YETI, what did Jesus ever do to you to deserve such animosity?

Assisted Living Dracula anyone? Classes start tomorrow, but for the first time in my whole life, I don't need to be there. It's almost sad really…almost but not quite. Life after college is not so bad at all
Sundays are great, I play Golf Road Baseball like a champion. Only 2 losses for the season folks, that's the best record out of anyone.

Don't be player haters, but I just got back from a family vaction to Hawaii. 'Twas sweet, got to do some cool stuff I never thought I'd do, including surfing, scuba diving, and hiking on a volcano (no "Fireball Island" action, but I did see some red hot mmmagma). It was a blast doing it all with the wifey. (Small bonus for the haters, because of the 12 hour time shift between there and here, I'm still suffering jetlag. It's 4am, for cryin' out loud.)
Sunday Routine:
Church; Lunch w/ in-laws; email, visit or call long lost people; maybe more church, maybe more food; sleep. Makes me happy.
Knegative- I know what you mean about not going back to school. I took a break once, (twice now) and it felt so wierd not doing something I had done every year for thirteen years.

I hate sunday because it normally means school the next day [fortunately it's still summer] and also my family eats macaroni every sunday. I hate macaroni. So I basically starve on Sundays. That sounded poignantly religious. :-O

I LOVE SUNDAYS!!!
I would shout this from rooftops if I wasn't so scared of heights…
Why? It's the only day that I KNOW I'll have off work.
The only (very) minorly shitty part about Sundays is that stores aren't open until their normal times. But hey I can work with that.

Sunday is a pretty crappy day. Nothing at all good on television, everybody's getting ready to go back to school or work. Saturday is better. Friday is even better.

I suddenly have a craving for fried seafood, as I'm thinking of a Travel Channel show that mentioned the ACME Oyster House and saw it had a fried seafood platter, that and I ate at one of my favorite restaurants last night, Pier 44 here on LI, where I got both surf (fried calamari for appeatizer) and turf (cheap, delicious Baby Back ribs), which caused me to experience (as always when I eat there) what Chappelle's Show has called "Mud Butt."
And I know it's august but I will send you free money to whomever sends me a fresh box of either Frankenberry and/or Boo Berry.
Send it to: Happy Dude, 742 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield

I was poking around some obscure corner of the net last night and found a sound clip that I knew my pals here would love. its from a vintage NES Zelda commercial I assume it was recorded from a TV commercial but its not the one in the 80's ad section.
For the sake of simplicity I stuck the link in the homepage field of my post. Anyways enjoy! now I'm gonna go back to trying to figure out why my chest feels like I went 3 rounds with Bald Bull >_< I prolly just smoked waaaaaaaay too much last night
Picked up a big bag o' Splenda at the market yesterday to make Kool-Aid. Guess what was with the bag? A Kool-Aid spoon with his face on the spoon and 2 free packs of Kool-Aid. Very Cool!

Splenda and Kool-Aid Man?!?! An unholy alliance forged in the depths of hell, Splenda will charm Kool-Aid Man into a lull of trust and comfort, with promises of the lesser calories, and the diabetes-friendliness…but then, oh then, Splenda will unleash the evil power of Bad Aftertaste!!! The horror, the vile, unmerciless torture of chemical over- and under-tones!! OH! Too much for Kool-Aid Man, he turns his back on Splenda, "Farewell, vile powder which should never be mixed with my own powder! Farewell."

Like everyone else here, Sunday is my least favorite day of the week. At least I'm in kind of this weird space where it's summer, and I just moved back to New Orleans and into an off campus apartment (first home that doesn't involve mom, yay and scary at the same time) so it being Sunday doesn't register as much. Besides, I have all this shiny new stuff like dishes and curtains and a vacuum to play with.

Matt, this is completely off topic, but I read your atlantic city article, and was wondering 1: when lodgenet changed their logos, 2: If lodgenet still has that computer voice saying "Welcome to atlaaantic city, we hope you enjoy your stay with us," and on the off chance you know this, 3: did harrah*s get rid of their gameroom?
Thanks - - Joe
A few months ago I thought I'd try some 7-Up Plus, not noticing that the "Plus" meant that it was made with Splenda instead of good old fashioned sugar. Big mistake; it was pretty gross.

DashiKun,
Welcome to the fold. Who needs lessons? Forget that remark, I still play like crap. My heroes are Mark Hoppus and Erik from Bowling for Soup, so what does that tell you? What did ya get? I play a lefty Squier Pbass, pretty standard (i.e. plain).

The posts at noon and before noon confuse me. How is it possible? Anyway, does anybody know of the link to the guy's website (a domain) He has articles of obsure stuff like a lot of people, but the funniest thing he had was bootleg toys that he made fun of. He had a toy piano with pikachu and hello kitty on it, with engrish on the box. Does it ring a bell? I hope so I have been trying to find it forever it seems like again to read the stupid thing. Thanks in advance.

i think Charles Osgood has a secret flock of vampire bowties ready to fly at his command. At least I think they belong to Mr. Osgood. Either way, if I were Yeti, I'd wear turtlenecks for a while. Those little flapping four-in-ones tend to be territorial of the guys who still wear 'em.
Any opinions about the news that Slipknot wants to sue Burger King over the "Coq Roq" ads? They claim that thier fans might get confused and think that Slipknot s endorsing chicken fries. Sounds to me like they have no confidence in thier fans' intelligence. It's no Melting Grimace, but at least there's no ad with some dude waking up in the morning with Coq Roq looking at him.

Comment on that Zelda rap commercial: Yes I very much remember this commercial because for some reason i thought the rap was bad ass as a 6 year old. I wasted a lot of energy reciting that commercial and probably annoying the shit out of a lot of people in the process. My real question is why couldn't they fit the Darknuts somewhere in there? Maybe I should write an update to the zelda rap….

I'm spoiled - my grocery store stocks Boo Berry, Frankenberry, and Count Chocula all year round. And for only like $2.00 a box. For a while I was actually eating it so much that I almost got tired of it. I'm not a heretic - I said "almost".

I only like Sundays from the perspective that they are kind of a relaxed, chill-out day in which you're not really expected to do too much. On the other hand, I tend to spend all of Sunday evening contemplating (and dreading) all of the work I have ahead of me when I return to work Monday.
But this is somewhat eased by the kick-ass Sunday night HBO lineup (Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Entourage).

Does anybody remember the Zelda commercial for Link's Awakening that had a rapper on it? It had some random guy spitting rhymes about the game while screens of the gameplay (I believe using a Super Gameboy) were displayed behind him.
It's likely to be a painful thing to drag again into the light of day, but I'd like to at least see it one more time.
