Yeah, so I’m about to settle in for a seven hour focus-fest to get the next article done. Meantime, here’s your Bored Saturday Night Thread. If time permits, the Midnight Movie will be Halloween 6. Chat away.
Forgot to add that the HALLOWEEN III movie poster is an all-time favorite. If you are not familiar with it, click the name. Too bad I can’t put THAT in the classroom. Also, it should be ‘82 instead of ‘83. D’oh!
I know what I’m asking for for my birthday this year.

Despite being in high school at the time, I had an obsession with the original MMPR- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers…to to point where I would tape episodes and try to convert my friends. I watched it for about 2 years, and then all the original cast members were gone and they were ‘power rangers with lazers who time travel in space’ or some damn thing. And it was totally for the wrong reason- I had a huge crush on BILLY the Blue Ranger, the NERDY one. Jeez. But, he was a geek like me, ya know?

In unrelated news, tomorrow I am leaving Korea and flying home to Canada!! I will miss the boyfriend for these 2 months, but I will be an English teacher at my old high school. I am half excited/half scared shitless.
At least I will finally have ENGLISH TV! I’ve never seen ‘Lost’ or ‘Desperate Housewives’ or ‘CSI:New York’, etc.

Bringing things back around to "Halloween 6" (what did you think, Matt? Paul Rudd beating some ass with a pipe!), wasn’t it originally called "Halloween 666," but then the studio got nervous and shortened the title? Coulda swore I saw a trailer on some video with the 666 title…

I didn’t think it was THAT bad, but boy, I feel bad for anyone who wasn’t paying an insane level attention during the first 5-6 minutes, where they through a hundred characters and a dozen subplots at you and hope you’ll remember later. I didn’t, and to be honest, I’m still not sure what the significance of some of the key players were.
Paul Rudd smiled way too much, and that stupid music "twang" they pulled whenever Myers appeared was ridiculous. Gotta give it up for the completely unexpected electrocution/explosion scene though.

Commander Awesome – Indeed it was called "Halloween 666" at one point, and the trailer for the film on the VHS of "The Crow" has that title. From what I remember, it was changed when the director decided to pull an "Exorcist: The Beginning" with the entire second half of the movie, resulting in the stange, confusing mess that ended up in theaters.
A lot of people say the "producer’s cut" is a much better version. I don’t think I’d go that far. The most I can say is that is that it’s at least easier to follow.

Good to be back on the blog – I didn’t have the balls to get spoiled in the last thread.
I’d never heard of All the Real Girls – I’m definately gonna go and try to track it down today. Loved Zooey in Elf and Hitchhiker’s Guide. And of course I’m a huge Homestar fan.
Went to Six Flags Great America yesterday in Gurnee, Illinios. It was the first time I’d been there in like 12 years. It was pretty fun, but in the 11 hours I was there I had like 20 minutes of real fun on the coasters, since the rest of the time was waiting in line and getting sunburnt. It was a good diversion from the usual though.
Favorite guilty pleasure TV show? Lizzie McGuire. BTW, I’m also a big fan of Cheap Seats.

Yeah, so I just bought Freaked on DVD. I didn’t even know they were selling it for cripe’s sake. What a good movie.
I too was in the high school when the original Power Rangers came out, and I too taped it every day. God, I was so in love with the Pink Ranger. I had never seen someone that hot before…and those short shorts!

Gozer Do you ever get to Bongo Video? Just wondering, I have a friend that works there, he always gets me good tapes that are on sale…a lot of Troma!
Muppet Baby Congrats on going home!! And good luck teaching, that will be weird teaching at your own H.S.!
Moe

Manimal, yeah, it could have been like 6 hours long, easy!! But I would still say it’s a good start!

I’m excited that NIGHT COURT is going on TVLAND with a marathon next weekend. One of the most underrated comedies EVER.
As for Halloween 3, I read a review that basically said that if you ignore that it’s called Halloween, it’s a pretty good movie and I agree. It’s one of those films I think gets badmouthed for no real reason. RL Stine even did 3 "Haunted Masks" Goosebump books and there was an episode on it.
I think Adam West was briefly involved with the Stooges before becoming Batman. Saw it on a Biography or something.

Me? I like to watch the occasional "Magical Girl" type show now and then. Sailor Moon, Corrector Yui, that kind of thing. Ostensibly, it’s because the bad guys are usually way cooler than the good guys, unless it’s some weird-ass show like "Lazy Town." (Thanks Fark, for the thread that convinced me to check it out. My head ’sploded like The Cheat and I had to wait weeks for replacement parts.) But, then again, I cheered when Rick Hunter decided to go with Lisa Hayes and kicked Lyn Minmei to the curb on RoboTech. I’m a twisted romantic.

Kidneyboy,
Moe and Larry ALMOST had Emil Sitka (who was in some of the shorts)join the Stooges in the 70’s but it never got off the ground. There is a picture of Moe, Larry, and Emil posing as the new Stooges in the 3 STOOGES SCRAPBOOK.
kidneyboy:
There’s a Bongo Video on the east side of town that I’ve driven past, but I’ve never gone in. Maybe I’ll stop in sometime now that I know they have good videos for sale.

Gozer,
…Real Girls is worth the trouble. On the Rachael front, check out Sally. It’s…surreal. A very strange movie to say the least and I can’t really describe it without giving too much away. Michael Westin (Wishcraft, the cop in Garden State) does a pretty good job in it as well.

Knegative:
I just finished All the Real Girls that I rented this morning. It was really good. Very sad and intense. Reminded me a lot of Garden State. Zooey was great, but the other protagonist was a little rigid (don’t worry – I won’t make comparisons to a certain Star Wars prequels actor, as I know it’s a sensitive subject ). Sally, eh? I’ll keep it in mind for when I need my next RLC fix. I have a confession though – I couldn’t make it through Blow Dry – it was just too not-my-type-of-film. Maybe I’ll try to catch that "Into the West" mini-series she’s in next time I see it on.

Manimal, yeah, you’re right. I actually have that same book, it’s a great, great resource for all things Stooges! I love the comic book reprints that they put in there. And the portrait photo’s of the Stooges in their bio’s are very nice.
Ghosted by kidneyboy @ 08/07/2005 9:57 PM EDT
oops! should have read these closer!!
Gozer, yeah that’s the one! Don’t buy all the good shit out from under me now, ya hear?
Ghosted by kidneyboy @ 08/07/2005 9:59 PM EDT
Gozer, Yeah Paul Schnieder is a little stiff, but I’ve always taken his character as slightly mentally challenged and because of that, I think it plays really well. I’ve admitted Ep. III is Hayden’s worst and I’m always up for good Keanu and Hayden jabs, so no need to apologize ever again
Blow Dry is a personal fav for personal reasons. I’m a fan of short hair and Rachael hacking off her own makes it a K- cult classic. I know its not a film that’s easy to identify with.

I was playing mini-golf on Saturday (again!). It should just be re-named "Caddyshack." My boyfriend, brother, and I all love the movie, but my brother’s girlfriend wasn’t too involved in the joke.

Congratulations Muppet Baby!!! I don’t think I want to go near my old high school ever again.

Invader Norbert–I wanna get the Muppet Show Season 1 b/c of the Kermit body on the box!! I own 3 Best of DVDs (chalk it up to an ex-boyfriend who was 5 1/2 years older than me and was shocked that I never watched the Muppet Show (it went off the air around the time I was born). My current boyfriend can do Kermit the Frog impressions. He’s pretty good too–I can do the impression fairly well.

The only good Halloween movie is the 1st. 2 has its moments but 3-9 are miserable depictions of cinema-crap.
