It’s Sunday, I’m at work, and the Native American Expo starts tomorrow. It kicks off with a parade through town, and the Gallery is on the route. Which means I get to watch it, then as soon as the politicians go by (they’re at the end), I run back inside and enjoy the AC. This year, they’ve placed porta-potties along the route, including in our parking lot. I wonder if they’ll leave ‘em out all week? Ah, Summer, it turns me upside down. Summer, Summer, Summer, it’s like a merry-go-round. Ooh, funnel cake!

I have to say I walked out of Charlie totally disappointed, and I went in excited but without out of control expectations or anything. It was nice visually, and they were certainly more faithful to the book than Willy Wonka was. Depp is always amazing, the kids were cute and the factory looked pretty awesome so it’s hard to put my finger on why I didn’t enjoy it. I feel like I should see it again since most people I talk to really liked it but I don’t see any reason not to wait for the DVD. And I still can’t believe I’m saying that because I love Tim Burton and J. Depp…Corpse Bride looks cool, though. Oh, I remember one thing that bugged me about CATCF: the Oompah Loomps were fun and done well, and I thought it was great that they were using the original lyrics but the actual arrangement and vocals of the songs were just so discordant and cacophonous that they were almost unintelligible. Why, Danny Elfman? Why?
I did think Wedding Crashers was pretty funny.

Sunday Lifetime Television for Women:
Golden Palace is on!! Just an announcement for Matt and other GG fans…warm up the VCR’s, DVR’s, and TV capture cards! Because it’s such a short run, only 1 season, and a short one at that, it will prob. only be shown once through on Lifetime. I will be highly surprised if they show them over and over.
**GOLDEN PALACE!!**

DarkPrimus: Hahahaha, how many times have I heard that in the past 2 years. I live a life of controversy, and I love it. Viva la Revolutions!!
Night_Trekker: I usually get 3 movies in a night. I’ve discovered College took alot of time, even though I didn’t really study. And now, I spend it on movies.

I went to go see CatCF last weekend, and I have to say, I totally enjoyed it. I appreciated that it followed the book better than the original, with the exception of something I’d rather not mention for fear of spoiling it for anyone else. Otherwise though, I found it to be quite entertaining, and Johnny Depp was darling as Willy Wonka.
Side note: The kid sitting next to me was so excited when he saw Christopher Lee, that he leaned over and hissed excitedly: "It’s Count Dooku!". He looked a little embarassed when he realized his dad was sitting on his OTHER side, and I was not his mom. The kid couldn’t have been more than 5 or 6; what the hell was he doing seeing RotS?!

Gretchen: Yeah, I don’t think that’s a kids film. Though he might know Dooku from Attack of the Clones.
But anyway, don’t tell Lucas, he might digitally remove the violence

I should have said, "It’s not a kids film, aside from the childlike writing/dialogue."

It’s actually Tuesday morning at 8:58 am, and I’ve been up for 4 1/2 hours. I’m @ my internship right now (I have 2 more weeks after this one ). Have a great day everyone!

Chaz–I know what you’re saying. I’m a Comunications major who will be graduating in December 2005. However, I am trying to get a real job. I put in my resume for a production assistant job where I do my internship (CBS-3 in Philadelphia, PA). It’s not much money an hour, but its good work and opportunity for advancement. I wanna be a production director, so I gotta start somewhere. Cross your fingers for me, everyone!

So I missed the Saturday night thread, but in case any of you "I just graduated from college, what the hell do I do now" posters are back, here’s my story. Do with it what you will.
I have not one but TWO degrees in history, an undergraduate and a graduate. When I finished my undergraduate, I panicked that I didn’t have a job (a real one anyway) and fled back to college. Within a year of graduating with the Master’s, I stumbled onto a job in…advertising. So now I’m a copy editor, which turns out is what I wanted to be in the first place.
So the moral of the story is, "Don’t sweat it. All those people who tell you that it’s going to work out are, surprisingly, correct." Anybody else have stories to encouage the up-and-comers?

This saturday, I watched "Night of the Living Dead" again. The 1990 version. I had it on tape and now I finally got the DVD. People keep trashing it, saying the original is so much better. Now, I know there are differences, but the documentary on the DVD says they pretty much stuck to the original, including casting actors similar to the orginals.
You guys know if there are any sites out there that compare both, like saying what are the differences or such? All this got me curious…

Actually, the PA job is decent money when I think about it. It’s more money than I’ve ever made. Hope I get it.

I need to play someone in Super Smash Bros. Melee. I play the computer all the time, but I guess that’s as good as can be expected when I only have one controller.

Night_Trekker-
I’d have thought it might have been Attack of the Clones, but when he went on to babble on the way out of the movie about "wouldn’t it be funny if Count Dooku didn’t die and he came and killed all the Oompa Loompas?"
"Yeah," I thought; "completely hilarious."
His parents are going to have their hands full when he gets older…
