Dunk-A-Balls Cereal!

Haven't seen Batman Begins yet, but I've read about its "disappointing returns" at the box office, "disappointing" stemming more from the fact that it cost so much to make. Worst part is, what everyone's calling the best parts have nothing to do with huge budgets, and you'd have to think that Nolan could've done a similarly awesome job with even half the budget. It's kind of funny though -- since everyone likes the movie, they're not blaming the lack of blockbuster sales on it. Rather, it's a "decline in the industry overall, AND WHAT GIVES?" I'm not saying it's not true -- there's probably something to it, but you can betcherass that if the movie was critically shit on, it would've been plainly been "the movie's fault." It's kind of like how every reporter said Jackson would be guilty until the verdict came in, when they then claimed they knew it'd come out that way all along while burning all evidence to the contrary on camera as they said it. Of course, I don't have beef with critics or reporters -- I just needed something else for this entry so it wouldn't just be a link to the Dunk-A-Balls article.

"Dunk-A-Balls" cereal arrived in 1993 as a sub-brand of Wheaties, forever changing the landscape of breakfast with basketball-shaped cereal pieces and the means to turn the box into a big disgusting net to hang over your milky bowl. It is the sole entry in Group 007 of The Cereal Prize Project, and it's yours to enjoy for a limited time only. Next up: I don't know and I don't care.

Haven’t seen Batman Begins…and I don’t plan on wanting to see it. I hated the thought of that movie ever since I saw the Batmobile. I’m not saying the thing isn’t cool, it’s just NOT the Batmobile which should evidently be in a Batman movie. I keep hearing rave reviews about it too, "it’s the best Batman movie ever ooooh". Bullshit, the first was the best, I mean, how can you get better than Jack Nicholson as the Joker…COME ON!!!! Okay, I’m done.

GO TO THE MEADOWLANDS FLEA MARKET!! You will find tons of cool stuff there to write about! Sorry don’t mean to be a plug for the flea market but on a brighter note I turn 25 tomorrow! Happy birthday to me!

Believe me, keep all the preconceptions you want, and even if you still hate the movie when you’re through…you should still at least see it. The "batmobile" (it’s not even called that by name in the movie, preserving a bit of realistic-osity) makes sense once you sit through it, and still looks awesome. At the end of Batman begins, the first thought that came to my mind was "that car would be really fun to drive". The thing just looks so maneuverable and fast, a million times better than Burton’s batmobile. I know, I had the same thoughts as some of you – it looks like ass. But it also looks like FUN ass.

As well, everything about batman was explained. EVERYTHING. How he got the suit, why he chose the bat as his symbol, how he got the suit made, his motivations. It was doen so much better than Burton’s batman. You really got inside Bruce Wayne’s head.

But the number one reason why it’s better than Burton’s? REALISTIC SETS AND SCENERY. This is not a comic book world – this is happening right now, somewhere in the world…batman does exist…and you might actually beleive that when you’re finsihed watching the movie. Of course, if you still think Burton’s was better…well, you can.Maybe it’s that nostalgia thing. Or maybe you just like different aspects of the film. I’m not trying to convince anyone about their opinions, but you should at least see it before passing judgement. Holy crap, this longer than Matt’s post.

Oh, one last thing…Katie Holmes sucked.

I ate Dunk-A-Balls. I only remember that they turned the milk a nasty color. Not a fruity color and not a chocolaty color but some ungodly shit color that’s undesirable to slurp up after you’ve finished the cereal.

I didn’t cut out the hoop. Would’ve been different if making a basket deposited the Dunk-A-Ball in someone’s mouth but throwing the cereal back into the bowl seemed pointless.

Chestnuts roasted by Carri @ 06/20/2005 10:57 PM

And I’m glad I’m not the only one that put off Batman Begins solely because of the batmobile design.

Though Road Block’s quote was so funny it may have changed my mind: "it looks like ass. But it also looks like FUN ass"

Awesome!
P.S. Has anyone else noticed that Count Chocula is becoming really hard to find? It seems to have dissapeared from all the local stores’ shelves over the past couple of months.

I believe I remeber thos, and wanting them real bad so I could shoot the balls! I was always one for making a mess and playing with my food!

Chestnuts roasted by IHAQ @ 06/20/2005 11:09 PM

I glanced quickly at the new cereal archive entry, and all I saw were the words "massive" and "balls"

I am done.

Chestnuts roasted by Goob @ 06/20/2005 11:17 PM

Yeah, I wanna see Batman, but I fear that Katie Homles is going to bother me too much, more now that she actually got engaged to that moron!…I gotta stop caring about stupid celebs personal lives :P

Chestnuts roasted by IHAQ @ 06/20/2005 11:18 PM

Dunk-A-Balls article: LMAO.

I would have spelled it dammit, but hey that’s personal preference (i.e. Blink told me to spell it that way)

Speaking of which, Pink does just make things seem magical. Lemonade and other wise. I want a shell pink Mark Hoppus P-bass so bad I can taste it. Does it taste like Pink Lemonade Kool-Aid?

Well that’s my little secret.

Chestnuts roasted by Knegative @ 06/20/2005 11:22 PM

No! Not Count Chocula! Please don’t be doomed to the cereal pergutory in which Boo-berry dwells! Can someone else verify this? I don’t want to see Count Chocula disappear, he’s the only mascot who ever really told the truth about his product – after a couple o’ bowls, you’ll only have one tooth left.

If anyone can tell me before I get my copy in the mail tomorrow, I’d appreciate it:

What number did Disintegration end up at on Spin’s 100 Most Important Albums of the Past 20 Years? Or whatever the title of the list is.

The Queen is Dead is #5 apparently, but I’m dying to know where Mr. Smith & Company ended up =)

Matt might appreciate it if the placing of Closer could be ascertained as well. See at least I tried to stay on topic.

Thanks!

Chestnuts roasted by Knegative @ 06/20/2005 11:44 PM

I used to eat that cereal!

Chestnuts roasted by Devin @ 06/20/2005 11:49 PM

I don’t know if I’ll see Batman Begins, it just doesn’t interest me for some reason, maybe because I’m constantly disappointed by movies that promise to get deeply into the character’s motivations etc. Mr. and Mrs. Smith was fun though.

And just to open an entirely HUGE debate, Spiderman is way cooler than Batman anyway.

Chestnuts roasted by Gabbylicious, the Return of @ 06/20/2005 11:51 PM

I really liked Batman Begins, but the one thing that bugged me is their explaination of the killing of Bruce’s parents. I don’t want to give it away, but there was a major difference between this version and Burton’s Batman. I’ve never read any of the comics or anything so I don’t know which one is correct th ough.

Chestnuts roasted by Gozer @ 06/20/2005 11:53 PM

Does anyone remember Tiny Toons cereal? I had it when I was a kid and I thought it was the best tasting cereal, except maybe clusters.

Chestnuts roasted by springsprite @ 06/20/2005 11:57 PM

The Batman Begins version of the Waynes’ murder is correct. And EVERYONE GO SEE BATMAN BEGINS! It is tremendous and arguably as good as Batman ’89!

Chestnuts roasted by Smacky the Frog @ 06/21/2005 12:03 PM

I’m going to go with Gabby on this one. Spiderman is cooler. Spiderman is arguably the most emo of all superheroes.

Check Yellowcard’s Gifts & Curses:

Mary belongs to the words of a song/I try to be strong for her/try not to be wrong for her/But she will not wait for me anymore,anymore/Why did I say all those things before I was sure

(She is the one), but I have a purpose,
(she is the one), and I have to fight this,
(she is the one), a villian I can’t knock down.

I see your face with every punch I take/and every bone I break/it’s all for you/And my worst pains are words I cannot say/still I will always fight on for you.

See, totally emo.

Chestnuts roasted by If You Don't Know By Now @ 06/21/2005 12:12 PM

Can we actually get photos of you putting food in your mouth and eating it? I think itd be funny.

Chestnuts roasted by joker @ 06/21/2005 12:19 PM

Just got back from Batman Begins. Well. That was…something.

I tried so hard to like it, but it’s like a Mountain Dew commercial it’s so rushed. They made Christian Bale talk like he had a pube in his throat, the "villian" was fucking Liam Neison (sp?) as a god damn Samurai. I’m getting angry just thinking about it.

Chestnuts roasted by Bryan @ 06/21/2005 12:53 PM

That is known as a SPOILER kiddies. For those who haven’t read the comics, I suppose, but a SPOILER nonetheless.
