Kool-Aid/Cereal Update.

Hey folks -- Decided to spend my X-E time this weekend polishing the new sections, starting with a start page for the Kool-Aid Section. Also, the section's been beefed up with one of the holier flavor reviews, this time for Sunshine Punch! The stuff in the packet is from 1982, and it still makes for one marvelous punch. There's also a few reviews of different Wacky Warehouse toys added -- just check out the big list at top right to see what's new. Okay, back to work...see you later.

Edit: The comments space now doubles as this weekend's Saturday Night Stupid Thread. To get the ball rolling, here's a random survey: Name your five most favorite DVDs, which may or may not differ from your top five most favorite movies depending on what you own and what special features really lit your fire.

Edit 2: Group 006 of the Cereal Prize Project has been posted.

1. Fight Club
2. Gattaca
3. The Matrix
4. Family Guy Seasons 1, 2 & 3
5. All of Futurama ;]

Numbers 1 and 2 have to be my all time favourite movies anyway. I rented Fight Club in February and since I was home recovering from surgery, I watched it 17 times over the course of a week. Fun? Yes. Sad? Definately.

My first three DVDs are clear, but everything else after that is kind of a gray area.

1. The Wedding Singer (it took a lot for me to finally admit that was my favorite movie. I really wish it was something meatier, but darn it if I don’t love this movie in the worst way.)
2. The Office
3. The Simpsons (seasons 1-5)
4. A Charlie Brown Christmas
5. Strictly Ballroom (or one of Christopher Guest’s latest masterpieces – A Mighty Wind, Best In Show, or Waiting For Guffman. Like I said, gray area…)

Bonus points for The Breakfast Club, my favorite movie to watch and recite. It might have made the list had it have had anything resembling a special feature on it. Cast bios don’t count. That is such a pathetic excuse for a special feature.

5. My Bootleg 1994 "Fantastic Four" movie.
4. Transformers: The Movie
3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Season Two
2. Ninja Turtles Anime
1. Back To The Future: Complete Trilogy.

Oh my God, how could I ever forget about Sunshine Punch?! Well, I did, and now I want some REALLY BAD. Thanks, Matt… I will have to pretend (really hard) that my Sunny D is Sunshine Punch.

Top 5 DVD’s
1. Practical Magic
2. Bridget Jones’s Diary
3. Bridget Jones’s Diary 2
4. Sleepy Hollow
5. Interview With the Vampire

I have way too many anime DVD’s to pick a mere 5, so I left those out. :P

hmmm, 5 you say?

Well, here goes:

The Residents: Demons Dance Alone

True Stories (the David Byrne movie starring John Goodman and Swoosie Kurtz)

Weird Al Yankovic: UHF

24 Season 1

Pink Floyd – The Wall

That was kind of hard, but in a good way!

Awwww, shit! I completely forgot about my new crown jewels in the collection!\

Golden Girls Seasons 1 & 2!!

How could I forget?!?! Back in Sicily, Guido Spomereli used to something something something! Cause we didn’t have running water!

Chestnuts roasted by kidneyboy @ 06/19/2005 2:38 AM

Easy. Boring, but easy. All tied for #1, we have the first two seasons of Home Movies, and the 3 extended Lord of the Rings.

Chestnuts roasted by Evin @ 06/19/2005 3:26 AM

The three LOTR extended DVDS get on there by default.

Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas hit the list as the best extras on any of the Criterion Collection films I’ve watched.

And… The Incredibles, because the storyboards are awesome, hell every single iota of the extras disc is awesome, and the commentary rules.

Favorite DVDs are the ones I can watch more then once every two years. With most movies, yearly is easily enough.

1. Napoleon Dynamite- Sorry kids, but if you haven’t actually been to southern Idaho, you missing a whole dimention to this movie.

2. Adventures of Pete and Pete season 1- Ok, I don’t technically have this, but if I still lived in the states, I would; and it would be #2.

3. Dodgeball- Just funny for me. Commentary is…crappy, but not like I’ll make that mistake again.

4. Billy Madison- Once again, funny. I can watch it over and over.

5…can’t think of any others. Throw in any other Sandler movie or maybe Goonies, but I don’t own them, so…

Chestnuts roasted by Mad Cow @ 06/19/2005 8:19 AM

Okay, I know this is sacrilige, but my 5 year old wanted some Orange Kool-Aid, but mama bear doesn’t want him having that much sugar. I decided to buy it, but I also got a big ole’ bag of Splenda. It actually tastes pretty good that way.

Hey King check it! Jarvis makes an appearance! One time I was channel surfing and found some special in Russian that featured a giant bear riding a tricycle on an ice rink…he did not look happy.
Re: all the Disney afternoon shows: Ooooh, I wonder if we’ll be seeing any Marsupilami premiums…Wow, until this moment I had no idea that Marsupilami was invented by a Belgian artist in the 50′s. I tried to get into Bonkers as well, but it was such a pale imitation of Roger Rabbit I couldn’t hang. Of course I though Tale Spin was the greatest show in history (well, that and Darkwing Duck) but I catch them on occasion on the Toon Disney channel and they have NOT aged well.

Happy Father’s Day to all you Baby-Daddies and soon-to-be Baby-Daddies! I’ll be calling my Pops later today and tell him to put down the Playboys until his ticker is stronger.

and now…..

Spider-Man
Ghostbusters
TransFormers: The Movie
Tron
UHF
(list subject to change without reason, will be written in Klingon when you’re not looking at it, may cause rash or crankiness)

As soon as the image of the Cookie Crisp toy sinks past the first thousand layers of the giant Gobstopper that is my brain, I just might be able to tell you what it’s supposed to do. It’s either a magic trick or festive handles for a garrote.

I don’t think I even own 5 DVDs. All that I have are:

-Valley Girl
-Carnivale Season 1
-My Neighbor Totoro

And I bought My Architect last night, haven’t watched it yet.

Chestnuts roasted by Mara @ 06/19/2005 3:04 PM

Happy Father’s Day Everyone! Especially to the new daddies like Manimal!

Top 5 DVDs
Finding Nemo (Kids do this to you)
Friday Night Lights (Football in Texas baby…)
Varsity Blues (Football in Texas, can’t beat it!)
Chappelle’s Show Season 2 (I’m about to go from ashy to classy!)
Bloodsport (The only Van Damme movie I want).

Oh, we won today 34-20 but I didn’t get to throw much. We still have an outside chance to finish second and perhaps move up a league.

And for the record: I still haven’t seen Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Nerds, er Sith. Man, what a cross-over movie that could be.

Star Wars + Revenge of the Nerds = Big Box office cash!

Miramax are you listening?

Semper Fi,
Erik Majorwitz

Okay, saw this movie My Science Project the other night and it’s on again today. It is so fucking bad, I love it! Its got Dennis Hopper (crazy!) and John Stockwell from "Christine" and a crazy timewarp device that turns the school into hell!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089652/

Yeah, good cast, bad dialogue, bad acting…great Sunday afternoon couch potato movie!

Yeh. Post #50.

I had that Chip Stamper. Loved the cartoon. The best Disney cartoons were the non movie-related ones (Rescue Rangers, Gummi Bears, DuckTales, Talespin, Bonkers, Goof Troop)

Top 5 DVDs:
Batman Animated Series Vol 1
Superman Animated Series
Hulk Rules
LOTR Extended Editions
T2 Judgement Day Extreme Version
