You saw the House. Now meet the Store.

Almost didn't beat the clock to get this one up before the weekend ends, but here it is -- an almost-sequel to the House article, it's....The Store! Yes, on the way home from the House, we met the Store. The Store is also known as "Gizmos & Gadgets," and it's got everything. Just a step above a thrift shop, it's the place that gave me WWF loot bags, Dinosaurs Attack! cards and a black licorice pipe that I completely forgot to mention in the article. Go check out the goods! Envy the crap I have no place for! Make outrageous monetary offers!

Oh my god! Useless crap! I LOVE useless crap!

Great follow-up article. That picture of Krang and Shredder is the funniest goddamned thing I’ve seen all weekend. It looks like Shredder is begging for the forgiveness of his "baby-momma" Krang after losing his temper again and breaking the bedroom lamp.

Thanks, ed. Fixed.

I got one of those fake cigarettes on a class trip to Quebec. People were freaking out as I wheeled my chair down the street "swmoking" that thing. I’m only 3’2 so people must of wondered who would give a toddler a light. LOL

I love places like that.

Did anyone catch the new family guy? Just saw it and it started where it stopped. The GI Joe part was great.

I’m dieing to see all of those dinosaurs attack cards. Too bad they never got a movie made out of them like the MArs Attacks ones did.

If I may echo ROADBLOCK, that is some marvelous crap. Big thumbs up to the CAPTAIN POWER junk. I was always surprised that wasn’t a bigger hit.
Saw a lot of EPISODE III TV spots this weekend. AND, it’s PG-13!!

Chestnuts roasted by The Manimal @ 05/01/2005 10:30 PM

Wow, Dinosaurs Attack… That was like my introduction to ridiculously over-the-top comic book style gore.

Chestnuts roasted by Justin @ 05/01/2005 10:41 PM

Ho-ly fuck! I’ve never seen those Dinosaurs Attack cards before, but now I wish I’d have. They kinda remind me of these monster cards they use to sell someplace when I was a kid. I stuck them all on my dresser, in turn scaring the hell out of myself…
Thanks, I think I’ll go hunt them down. Great article Matt!

I sorely regret never having heard of DINOSAURS ATTACK cards before. It seems like something I would have wanted but ultimately was scared by (same as GPK which I threw away too since I had one make me throw-up. I tried to buy a one of the new packs but…I had to give it away to a co-worker.) ANYWAYS, here is a link that is on topic. Check out Trilobite Terror

Manimal I’m looking at that site right now too. I’m probably going to spend the next hour or two reading every card.

Chestnuts roasted by Bright Noah @ 05/01/2005 10:54 PM

Damn, I posted too soon and messed up my tenses. It should read "something I would have wanted but ultimately WOULD HAVE BEEN scared by."
Also, I like it because they remind me of sideshow posters.
Okay, enough of that.

Hey Matt, was "Red Dragon Inn" (in the California Raisins paragraph) a reference to Runescape? If it was, do you still play that game? And what is/was your level? I just started getting into Runescape, and it’s embarrassingly addicting. ha

By the way, have you seen the new R2D2-shaped pop coolers that Pepsi is promoting Episode III with? They went all-out with these things, very cool looking indeed. The pepsi supplier I talked to is attempting to get ahold of an extra one for me. Check them out: http://www.r2d2central.com/photo.asp?image=http://www.r2d2central.com/pics/2005-pepsi-coolers.jpg

DINOSAURS ATTACK!!!

I forgot all about those! Oh wow. Thanks for that link, Manimal… Those are pretty much the coolest things ever.

Chestnuts roasted by Jeff Hayes @ 05/01/2005 11:15 PM

Shit. Looks like you’re going to have to cut and paste the URL I posted if you care to see the things.

What are all yall doing for May im goin to Bestro.

Chestnuts roasted by Mr. May @ 05/01/2005 11:21 PM

I’m suddenly reminded of a funny story: On May 1st a few years ago, I was in Cologne, Germany for a study-abroad program. I stayed with a host family and attended a German high-school with this kid Gabriel who, incidentally, was a drug-dealer. Anyway, May 1st is apparently some kind of half-assed German holiday which requires all young German lads to cut down a Maibaum (May tree), decorate it, and place it on their girlfriend’s front lawn as a symbol of their blossoming love or some shit. I helped Gabriel fetch his girlfriend’s tree at FOUR IN THE FUCKING MORNING after an evening of heavy drinking (it had apparently slipped his drug-addled mind until that point). It was an arduous, frustrating experience because I was throughly drunk and utterly exhausted, but at least I earned the right to truthfully claim that I’ve carried a 15-foot birch tree down the rain-slicked streets of Cologne, Germany in the middle of the night during my lifetime. To add a final degree of stinging insult to the whole evening, I had to pay for the cab-ride home because the junkie prick was broke. The moral to this story that, in all likelihood, nobody even read is: never trust a 17-year-old German drug-dealer.

Those Dino Attack cards were possibly the most messed up thing I have seen in quite a while. The ones with the big generic t-rex things eating the kids in the bus and the classroom was like WOW! those kids are F***ed.

Holy shi’ite do I want that Legend of Zelda cartoon trading card treat. For a mere 19 cents it could adorn one of my writer notebooks. (I’m an MFA student in creative writing.)

I always get excited on Fridays. The Super Mario Bros Super Show would play a Legend of Zelda adventure.

Chestnuts roasted by Jeff Mack @ 05/02/2005 12:04 PM

Make that got excited. Alas, it’s no longer on the air. =(
