X-E Loves Sharkleberry Fin Kool-Aid!

Merry Easter! And what better way to celebrate than with the Ultimate Tribute To Sharkleberry Fin Kool-Aid! Yes, Kool-Aid is my latest obsession, something I'm not very proud of but totally welcoming of it all the same. I've decided to devote a whole ten minutes of my life each week to tracking down old packets of Kool-Aid, and since Sharkleberry is an awesome pink shark wearing sunglasses, his flavor topped my list. Long thought discontinued, the mix is now on sale again in the United Kingdom. Article provides a taste test, commercial review and a look back at the pages of an all-Sharkleberry edition of The Adventures of Kool-Aid Man comic book. Oh. Yeah. Is this the part where I tell all of you to raid the back of your kitchen cabinets and send me all of the old Kool-Aid ya find? That'd be swell, thanks.

Thanks to the whole two of you who sent in egg pictures! I kid, I know it was a late request. The R2 egg was created by a reader named Anthony, and I've definitely done the same thing to eggs in the past. "Wanda Waddle," the blue beauty on the right, comes from Kristin. Big bonus points for using plastic googly eyes.

I remember that, just before Sharkleberry Fin was released on the open market, there was a special form you could send in to be the first to try out the new flavor of Kool Aid. I got my first packet of Sharkleberry Fin for free!

Sharkleberry is my favorite flavor!! I thought it was strawberry/watermelon, but the banana would be that flavor I could never put my finger on.

I miss raspberry.

I have about 50 packets of watermelon-cherry that I bought a few summers ago when a local grocery store closed & sold everything @ 75% off. I would trade some for Sharkleberry.

Anyone know if the kool-aid slushes (or Barbotines) are still being sold? I moved three or four years ago, and haven’t seen them since. Though they had all but disapeared back in Michigan by that time as well. I still have a box full of them, for that super satisfied feeling of exclusive kool-aid drinking that Matt was talking about. But it breaks my heart to actually use any of them, knowing that it’s bringing me ever closer to the end. Or IS it?

oh. my. sweet holy jeebus. my friend just sent me this link because.. well.. he and i have a history with sharkleberry fin. i think i love you people. this is a wonderful place. and as far as kool aid goes, since they’ve booted all the good flavors, black cherry is my favorite. still get it at least once a week because my friends come over and make it at two in the morning, usually staining my counter in the process. ooh kool aid. huzzah.

I’m not sure if anybody reads this far down, but I’ll try anyway. Sharkleberry Fin was one of my favorite kinds of kool-aid. I remember finding packets being sold at a duscount store about 4 years after it was discontinued and kept one of them (emptied). My sister claims that Starblast Strawberry, or somethng like that here in Canada, tastes like Sharkelberry, and its pretty close. I found packs of Incrediberry from the mid to late 90s at a store last summer. It was awesome. I may have to check it out again, at the very least so I could resell to eager kool-aid folks.

hey matt, it says on the kool-aid FAQ site that purplesaurus rex is still on sale in Canada. And if there are any Russians reading this you guys are still communist bastards because you are the only country with the Rasberry flavor!
BTW- 4:20 is a couple of days away! Matt, do an article about it! I know you rock out on 4:20 like evryone else here on Staten Island.

i thought i was the only one who remember and cherished sharkleberry fin. you made my day big time. now if you can find and review great bluedini, the tasty ass and i believe first ever color changing kool-aid, i’ll bear you many fine, strong children. keep up the good work.

I’ve recently become half-obsessed with finding information on Kool Aid Kool Pops and haven’t really been successful thusfar. I’m trying to convince myself to give up the dream of tracking some down… but it’s hard!

I remember Sharkleberry. I had some when it first came out. Sharkleberry marked the end of my Kool-Aid love affair. Sharkleberry starts off sweet. However, by the you’re finished swallowing it the bitter, indescribable aftertaste crashes down and ruins your taste buds for the duration of your meal or snack. The aftertaste tasted like ear wax or plain listerine without the minty zing. (Unfortunately, I know what ear eax tastes like). I was glad they stopped that Pink Jaws before he claimed more victims,lol. Though, this new incarnation you speak of is a frightening thought. I just hope that it tastes better than the original. Hopefully, the old packets of the mix weakened over time and thus killed that aftertaste.

Where in GODS name do I get it?  Seriously.  I’ll buy old packs that someone kept.  I’ll go into a home that a lady died in and no one found her for… 20? years.

Okay..  That was extreme, but so was SHARKLEBERRY FIN.  If I carried one thing with me from my child hood… it’s the torch that never died for a kool-aid flavor that died before it’s time.

Oh the summer I had that year.  The pink kool-aid and the smiling picture.

Give me sharkleberry fin or … give me… something else.

Seriously, just reading through all these kool-aid reviews, makes me remember exactly how they all used to taste. It also makes me wonder how much money you’ve spent on kool-aid in the past 10 years? Well worth it!

ATTN: What is the exact flavors in Sunshine Punch? I do mix Orange and Pink Lemonade and the flavor is very close, but still something isn’t quite right! Can we contact Kraft for detailed info?

I missed this flavor for years!
I was pissed when they took it off the shelves.
A couple years ago I found something that is very similar..
Funny that the flavor would be a match since I never knew the original, but crystal light – strawberry orange banana is what I’ve been drinking…
I guess my taste buds are on par..

I ordered a few packets of the new Fin off ebay,
I’m gonna see how they compare..

I loved Sharkleberry kool aid when I was younger. Now my favorite is Orange and Grape mixed. Thanks for keeping the memories alive!

The only pink Kool-Aid that out now in stores is pink lemonade, but despite the fact that i’ve missed out on Sharkleberry Fin I would like to see Sharkleberry in stores!
