Something like this you hate to admit but;
Avril Lavigne, don’t know the name of the song, but when ever it’s on, I don’t change the station.

Ninja Rap by Vanilla Ice. I remember every single word, that’s how much power the turtles had on my fragile 8 year old mind.

I have to say anything by Avril Lavigne…her music sucks but I’m in love.
Quiet Riot… because Cum On Feel The Noize is too damn catchy for a girl raised on 80’s rock.

I hate just about everyone that sang "We Are The World" with the exception of Huey Lewis and the News. However that song always brings a tear to my eye in a sappy 80’s sort of way. I HATE that.

I don’t know the band’s name, but that damned Friends song. I got busted once singing along to it in my car. Right when it got to the clapping, I look over at the car next to me and two girls were just staring at me with a look that said "You are a moron."

You know the sad thing about Quiet Riot? Their first hit was a cover by a British glam band, so they try to follow it up on their second album with…another cover of a song by that same band!
Obviously, "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" didn’t quite catch on as much as their first hit.

Aws much as i hate and want to string Fred Durst up by his thumbs, "faith" was a pretty cool cover. I feel so dirty and ashamed.

Posted by
primusboy @ 03/14/2005 2:15 PM EST
I’m already noticing a pattern here. A lot of these listed I think will be bands that suck who managed to do a fairly decent cover. I hate cover songs, at least when they are released as the new band’s main single. You like them, but of course you do, you’ve heard them a million times before. It’s a no-talent move.

Posted by
jhnnywalkr @ 03/14/2005 2:59 PM EST
Well, at the beginning of their widespread fame, I didn’t care much for Green Day, mainly due to the hype of them being the second coming of Punk. (like it ever went away in the first place.) But, I really dug "Walking Contradiction." With a little help from Time, I can say G-Day is a pretty good group on their own, PR aside. It’s that in general, I feel if you are going to hate a pop group or singer, find one song you like, and use that as your standard for dislike. "Why can’t they make more tunes like this!"

Faint by Linkin Park. I wish I could help it.
Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous by Good Charlotte.
I hate how they’re ridiculous posers and I hate their scene…but everytime that song comes on the radio/iPod, I can’t help but start bopping up and down to the beat.

I also like the song Dramamine, by Modest Mouse…the rest? Hated it!
In Too Deep, by Sum 41.
There was one song a long time ago by Garbage, Matt posted it as an Easter Egg on an article. I liked that song, but that’s about it by them.
Kenny Rogers - The Gambler
And this one song from Veggie Tales, it’s called the Cheeseburger Song :) It’s really cool!
There are def. other bands that I like a few songs, but these bands are the one-song only club.

Uh, I hate admitting this, seriously, but it must be done: I’m a Christmas music junkie (big surprise, I know), and despite my best efforts, whenever I’m driving solo and the windows are definitely not open, Mariah’s damn X-Mas song is perfectly welcome. Go me.

Now, as far as the poll: I’m gonna have to say Nine Inch Nails — "Hurt." All the rest of their music I’ve heard is absolute trash, but there’s just something about Trent Rezner (sp?) pouring out his soul into that piece that hits me right *here*.

Next time I’m at my parents’ house I am soooo looking around the basement for my A-Team figures. I remember their backpacks fit like real backpacks (i.e., their arms went through straps) rather than the pole in the spine technique a-la G.I. Joe. I always liked that.

"The Tomorrow People" was my favourite show for awhile, and there were many sequel series, but they replaced a main character each time, which pissed me off.
And, every singer I hate has at least one song I can’t help but like, but I can’t think of their titles. I know there’s one song I like that I was embarrased to find out was from N’Sync.
I’ve never been a Creed fan. I always thought of them as nothing more than an extremely poor man’s Peral Jam (a superior group, IMHO). That said, I do like the song "Young Grow Old" which you Yanks first got on "WWF/WWE Forciable Entry" a few years back. It came out in Canada many years earlier on one of their CDs, not that I’d know which one since I don’t own any of their CDs, cuz they still suck ass!
"End of XE? It was a good run"?? What the heck are you talking about?
I HATE Kelly Clarkson and all other pop shit….but damn, I can’t help but enjoy "Miss Independent"- there, it’s off my chest.

Muppet Baby, I’m confused. My guess is you’re referring to a deleted post? Or did I miss something?
There’s a number of bands that I think I "hate" that I was going to list, but then realized I couldn’t name just ONE song I liked. Journey, for example. I was going to say "Seperate Ways" but then I remembered "Don’t Stop Believing" and "Any Way You Want It". And I can’t concur on Mariah Carey, either, since certain songs of hers carry sentimental teenage "dancing around like an idiot" memories.
Oh sweet merciful crap here we go.
1."Ride"- The Vines (That singers face wants me to smack him with a mallet but the song’s beginning is hella catchy)
2."Freak on a leash"- Korn, sorry I never really liked them and I laughed when the one guy went born again and left the band.
Oh, I will admit I like most of the Spice Girl songs. Something about them Brit tarts that made me happy…
What amazes me about Good Charolette is how everyone and their mother hates them but they still sell albums. Fuckin teeny boppers that don’t know any better.

I dunno, I don’t listen to much music aside from Weird Al, and I adore all his songs.
Anyway matt, kinda off topic, but you go tta do an article on this new toyline "Fistful of Power." Its made by the same company that gave the world Mighty Beanz (Moose) and seems to be a homage to the old MUSCLE and Monster in my Pocket toylines. The website is http://www.fistful.com so, go and check it out. And, as i reccomended do at lest a blog item on it.

Oh oh…I hate the music on the EA games like Madden and MVP Baseball, but can’t help singing them after playing the game for awhile…
Though MVP has me hating all Irish and the entire New England area with their damn Red Sox ode on the game.
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

I can’t believe this thread is still going! I realized I had something to contribute yesterday while driving in my car. That damn "On the Way Down" by Ryan Cabrera. Anyone ever see that flippin’ idiot on that new Ashley Simpson show? OMG…dude is a complete tool.

I would have used to have an answer with Céline Dion, as I’m generally not into her stuff, but I like the song "The Power of Love" (the "Because I am your lady, and you are my man" one, not the Back to the Future one from Huey Lewis and the News), however I eventually found out that the Céline version of that song was one of a million cover versions of the Jennifer Rush original, and I like the cover version peformed by the recently departed (much too soon) Laura Branigan much better.
Oh, wait, I actually liked the New Kids on the Block song "Tonight", from Step By Step, their last popular album in North America, back when I was a teenager, but now that I’m 30, I find I’m getting somewhat nostalgic for NKOTB in general, so now I find myself listening to songs I used to hate and finding them not too bad.
Safety Dance was mentioned in my last post. I cant really say that i hate that band, what else did they sing. that and the fact that i was 4 when they were popular. Happy St. Patrick’s Day. incase you didnt know or care, St patrick was from Wales, not Ireland. God Bless the Irish and their booze, though, they will even drink for an Englishman.

Butthole Surfers (Don’t mind the sun sometimes?)
Sinead O’Connor, Nothing Compares 2U.
primusboy: Personally, I think the greatest Men Without Hats song of all is the tender yet very intense "O Sole Mio" from Pop Goes the World, wherein you get the full brunt of Ivan Doroscuk’s hurricanish voice, but the only Men Without Hats song that hit it truly big south of the border (meaning south of the Canadian border) was "Safety Dance". The Pop Goes the World album just happened to be released when New Wave was on the wane in the States. "O Sole Mio" should have been a much greater hit.
springsprite:
I preferred their song Pepper

Livin’ La Vida Loca–Hated Ricky Martin and all that Latino Pop that was popular at the time (’99, right?)…but this song is very catchy…and reminds me of, well, let’s say it takes me back to my college days.
I Want it That Way–NSync (or was it the Backstreet Boys?)–I was working in a grocery store at the time this song came out…it was played ALL the time, and eventually grew on me.
Sometimes I Run–Britney Spears–See "I Want it THat Way"…plus it’s just an upbeat song.
This Love–Maroon 5…I don’t know…the song is easy to sing along to…and I like easy to sing songs.

I’m not a fan of Live, but I love hearing either "Lightning Crashes" or "Lakini’s Juice".
I’m not a huge Eric Clapton fan either, I find most of his music to be meandering and rather boring, but I feel so moved every time I hear "tears in heaven"
One other thing, I’m not a follower of Fear Factory, but I love banging my head to their song "Zero Signal".

I HATE Eminem, but I think ‘Stan’ is an awesome song.
As a Punk rock fan I also should hate Simple Plan. I don’t and think ‘Shut Up’ is a catchy song.

"nerothewizard … OMG *loves Trent and all of his music* :’(
Heh, sorry … just never heard anyone call his music … ahem … "absolute trash" *winces*"
If it’s any consolation I’m jumping up and down with anticipation for With Teeth. This from a guy who never usually jumps up and down with anticipation for things that aren’t Transformers. Mmm, Galaxy Fooorce.. er, yes, anyway. Can’t wait for With Teeth. Probably be the first CD I’ve bought straight after its release for years.
For me, well, there’s only a few things I’m guilty of, and they’re only in the picture because they have special significance, we’ll say. I loathe boy bands with a very large amount of loathing, yet The One by the Backstreet Boys is still special. Sigh.
getcha groove on by limp bizkit.

"over and over again" i cant stand it but i never turn it off when it comes on
"i believe in a thing called love" its very catchy yet annoying
"karma" i never really like alicia keys but i somehow catch myself singing along to all her songs
and also most of the songs by nsync or any of those other "boy bands"….it feels nice to get these off my shoulders

“Music means everything” “Have you ever imagine a life without a piece of music”.”Every sound can be a musical notes in we analyse critically”.
Anything by Foreigner, Fleetwood Mac, and The Beach Boys, the album Thriller, pretty much everything from Robert Johnson, Heart (even though I’m a boy), Foghat, Cheap Trick, oh god, what else? Oh, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Elton John’s “Candle in the Wind ‘97″ (I own two copies), “Convoy” by CW McCall, “Troglodyte” by The Jimmy Castor Bunch, “Itsy-Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka-Dot Bikini”, and John Denver.
