01/30/2005: C-3P0 reads X-E!

So, guess who read that article on C-3P0’s Cereal?

C-3P0. No, really. I got an e-mail from the guy who runs Anthony Daniels’ site, telling me how happy he was to see that another soul had a box of the stuff, and how reading the article opened the gates for plenty of memories from the commercial shoot. At first I wasn’t too sure if the man himself read it, but hey, go check out his site. He did! Prittttty cool.

Well, that’s two. I got to meet Harrison Ford under fairly intimate circumstances at the junket for K-19, but between my well-hidden awestruckityness and the fact that there were four other interviewers in the room, it didn’t amount to much more than introductions and a couple of questions about a movie nobody went to see. And I had this really bad pinkish red hair thing going on, so I was all antsy. Still, I was sitting three feet from Han Solo — like Greedo.

Admittedly, if there’s anything worse than starfucking, it’s starwarsfucking. But I am pretty humbled and so wanting to reuse my C-3P0 Play-Doh mold. Maybe me and Anthony can head down to PS-166 and shoot some hoops.

Just got done on a freelance project that required watching 20 hours of a television show that must remain nameless for now. I love the show, but combing through 20 hours of anything is a pretty damning project. I will now celebrate the big finish by atrophying for the few hours I have left before yet another glorious workweek. Rumors persist that I may get a full day off in 2012, but I’ll probably waste that day writing a tribute to Hordak or something.

Whoa. Sis kingklash suffered a head wound, huh? Damn. I’ve been outta the loop too much lately. Probably due to the fact that I was too busy over Christmas break, and the fact that my internet was down over the past week (shitty dorm living conditions!), and the fact that I don’t have time to read every post.

I remember when Kingklash told me about his sister after I put up one of my most personal posts. Dunno why I did, either. Just felt I had to tell some people here on X-E. Anyway, Kingklash had a story about his sister that related to mine.

Did anyone notice that in the ad for Boogeyman, they misspelled Freddy Krueger’s name? The ad spells it "Freddie" Hrrmph. What’s that tell you?

kingklash, very glad to hear your sis will be back in the homeland. Thank God she came back as safe as she did. My cuz (former Air Force) was working as a civilian in the Green Zone as a recreations personnel type thing for a year plus. She finally had to get out after a dud rocket hit her trailer while she was sleeping. She was home within two weeks. :)

So glad to hear she’s on her way home, King. Hope it’s a happy homecoming for everybody.

Kingklash- That’s great about your sis!

Kidneyboy- Maybe the "Boogeyman" film people didn’t actually have permission to use Freddy’s name in their commercial, but they went and did it anyways…? Just a theory. :)

Muppet Baby…ahh, you become so wise, living in the Far East…like spirit of owl or elephant…wise, you know. ahhh so.

I have this sudden urge for a virtual sword-fight with reallllly loooong French breads… any takers?

Klash’s Sis’s "head wound" was just a bump on the forehead in the office, she walked into the door lintel. Are Iraqi office workers very short? :D

Sis just *BONK’D!* her noggin on a window, nothing bad. She did ask about a Purple Heart and/or benefits, but they just gave her a couple of passes with a sewin’ needle and sent her back to the office. Wait…. just got news she’s in Germany right now! I’ll let you guys know when she’s in ‘Merican airspace. When she got to come home for ThanksGivin’, she had layovers in Germany, then Ireland, followed by a couple of jumps at airbases here in the home country. Soon, though, soo-*SPLORTCH!*

Off topic, but is anyone going to the Fark party in NYC tonight?

Ghosted by Pedro @ 02/03/2005 1:14 PM EST

Fark is having a big-assed party? Damn. Wish I could make it to NYC. But since I’m on the west coast, and I have an audition tonight, I can’t. Heh heh.

Ghosted by Nate @ 02/03/2005 8:01 PM EST

For some reason, I don’t think there are many farkers here in NYC. I didn’t go. Got the ol’ "yeah ah, I’m going to have to go ahead and ask you to work late tonight, so if you could stay ’till 11 or so that’d be greeeaaat, thanks" a-la Lumberg.

Hey Matt, if you still read this site, roll on over to 46th b/w 5th and 6th. There’s a comic book shop on the north side of the street (near McAnn’s) with a giant plush spidey in the window. The area is also LOADED with 99 cent stores (which is weird, I think, for midtown) with hundreds of treasures just waiting to be discovered.

Surpise, surprise! Sis is here! At home! About 8:00 last night, she called her husband and said she was in Maine! Said she’d call after she got to base and then she’d give him more details about how to get her stuff for coming home. 2:00am rolls around and another call: come get her, and bring the kids. For whatever security reasons, a lot of units have been brought in under cover of night, but I kind of understand that. Brother-in-law and sons get there, and a lot of families were there waiting. seems they knew way ahead of time, and for whatever reasons, we were left out of the loop. Both Ma and Brother-in-law are going to look into it. They know who to ask and how to ask. I’m just glad Sis is home. She’s got today at home to rest up and such, then back to Ft. Sill for debreifing, paperwork, and whatever. Later, we’re going to have a small pow-wow for her return. Not only is she considered a veteran by the government, she’s a returning warrior in the eyes of tribal elders. She is going to stop by this little dog-and-pony show later today, and I just can’t wai- *KA-SPLOOSH!*

Yay! I finally got my hands on the Alternators Hound. Worth every penny of the $34.97 he cost me.

Looks like the Alternators line is going to be fairly large. Hasbro is cashing in on all of us "mature" toy-lovers.. what a great time to be a Transformers fan! :D

Saw me a hound at a Wal-Mart a couple towns over. He was one of my favorites. I know what I’m getting in short order. I’m hunting down the Anniversary Prime at another store as well.

Ghosted by kingklash @ 02/05/2005 4:32 PM EST

kingklash, you must find the Prime. I got him for my b-day last year, and he’s worth every penny. He’s like 8 feet tall, and solid as a fucking rock. All metal and moving springs…really a quality job. I guess the only diff. between the Hasbro one and the Takara one is some battle damage markings on the chest of the Hasbro Prime. The Takara one doesn’t have them.

Cyanyde…the Alternators rock. I have four of them: Hound, Silverstreak, Smokescreen, and Side-Swipe. I am hoping to get a few more soon. They are only around $24 at the Wal-Sack by me.

Happy birthday! Many happy returns! Don’t party too hearty, unless you really want to, in which case party like it’s 1999 and Y2K is coming to kill us all.

or Artie, his pet lizard
P is for Peanut (mystery bamboo)
P is for the notorious "Photog"
Y is for…uh….um…I’m sick of doing this already. It was ’sposed to say "Happy Birthday Matt" and bring giddiness and joy to the birthday boy!

After reading this, Matt, I can officially say that I want to grow up to be you.

Ghosted by Behonkiss @ 02/07/2005 10:05 AM EST

Incase anybody cares, my highschool choir teacher dated Harrison Ford when they were in highschool. I mean, this was probably almost 50 years ago, but still pretty freaking cool. I can’t remember all the details about what went on, and if there was any sort of break-up, but I know that they were still friends for a while, and she did have a Han Solo-esque glossy of him signed to her sitting on her desk. I think she had seen him at some highschool reunions in the last 2 decades. Sad part is, that’s about as close to fames as I’ll ever be.

The only Star Wars person I’ve met was Carrie Fisher. She was signing her book after a reading, so I figured that it was cool and all to get an autograph, but seemed really put out by it. As in she did not look up when I said hello and then she shoved it back at me after signing and almost knocked something off the table. Don’t stay to sign the fucking things then, ya know?!?!?
