My dying wish is for an owl/camel hybrid, which I call camowl.

Kinder Goes Santa.

The Calendars have been updated, as you should’ve noticed by now – and yes, it’s Mare and Mare, together again. What will come of this? You may be expecting to find out tonight, but you’re wrong – the big company party is this evening, and I’m not turning down six hours worth of open bar fun to take pictures of Mare Winningham figures. It won’t be “late,” though, so look for it Friday evening.

I’m also entertaining the silly idea of writing a regular article this weekend – I’d like to crank at least a couple out before Christmas. We’ll see. The material is already on deck; it’s just a matter of finding time. Luckily, after an experience at Toys R’ Us last weekend where I had to literally ditch a wagon full of presents because I could no longer mentally handle navigating through the swarms of idiots yelling “DOES LUCY LIKE BRATZ OR FAIRYTOPIA?” I ended up shopping on Amazon instead. It’s a pain in the ass to see things go out of stock from the time they’re in your cart till the time you hit “checkout,” but at least I’m getting all of these giant Amazon boxes to build forts and robots with. Hmmm – that’s an article in wait.

I found these chocolate Santa Claus figurines from Kinder a few days ago, obviously expecting to unearth plastic toy treasures on the inside. Kinder must’ve been having an off day, because there were no toys in Santa’s gut. Oh well, they’re still nice and foreign looking, with way detailed foil wrappers. The chocolate Santas are just as detailed and twice as tasty. It’s hard to recommend placing hollow chocolate figurines inside Christmas stockings, but if you’re living in a cold climate…

First of all-Kinder eggs are 100 times better tasting than that Hershey’s crap. No arguments, I’m right.

Also-I was one of those girls that played Doom all the time, yet wasn’t really a tomboy. You just have to introduce the girl to the more "boyish" toys. It isn’t genetic for girls to like pink, after all, and also encourage boys as playmates, they kept me steadily craving more X-Men.

And nextly, I would like to know where Nate goes to school so as to avoid it. I go to a school where drinking is THE way of life. Makes me an oddball, since I don’t really, but teetotallers freak me out nonetheless.

Congrats, EMajorwitz!

I watched the Chocolate Factory trailer three times, and I’m still stumped. I don’t know what to think.

My big present is the http://www.livejournal.com/community/carnivale_hbo/82925.html">Carnivale Season 1 DVD but it came early from Amazon and I was home alone so….I already opened it. Now I’m getting nuttin for Christmas. My crib is hosting a party with viewing of A Christmas Story and special themed drinks for a game to go along. I’ve never actually seen the movie (I know, I know) so there’s something to look forward to. Besides family togetherness and the bounties of the season, that is.

RE: Chocolate Factory trailer:

I know Roald Dahl (spelling?) didn’t like the first film, but this new one just looks weird.

If anything, it borrows too heavily from the first one. Some of the images looked strikingly similar.

Also, Willy Wonka didn’t seem to have any charm whatsoever. He just looked like a freaky guy. Reminded me a bit of the guy from A Clockwork Orange, actually.

I’m sure it will never replace the classic, but I hope they don’t make a massacre out of it…

Wow…is this the first time we get to see Mare’s "O" Face? ;) Nice, Photoshop job, Matt! :)

I’m hoping for a MyFi, but since I’m not expecting anyone to dish out that kind of money, I’m just asking for iTunes cards. And I’m sure I’m getting pink boots from my mom, since she not-so-subtlely asked me if I like a certain shoe.

What is everyone giving this year? My favorite gift that I’m giving is a cartouche ring for my boyfriend with his name engraved in heiroglyphics. Thing is, it’s being shipped in from Egypt, so I’m hoping it’ll get here on time. And I’m also using little Lego Men keychains as gift tags for some of my gifts(I got a whole bunch when I went to the U.S. headquarters).

And speaking of Lego Men, which direction do their hands go – curved side up, or curved side down? I tried to see if the hands on Kuse and Knacks are a certain way, but no such luck.

EMAJORWITZ- Sorry I’m late with the congrats, but- congrats! If it’s a girl, don’t make her a "girly girl"- I was a tomboy, and so glad I was (am).

Also, isn’t Johnny Depp playing Willy Wonka??

Chestnuts roasted by Muppet Baby @ 12/11/2004 7:31 AM

Johnny Depp playing Willy Wonka is the kiss of death. He’s too much goth and not enough insane.
Now Thomas Haden Church… He’s insane … in a good way. Thomas Haden Church is a good ol’ Texas boy, so he would totally beat Femme Johnny in a steel cage match. Thomas Haden Church is the type of dude who stands with his buddies in a suburban alley with a can of Alamo in his hand saying "Yup".

Chestnuts roasted by AngeFaitore @ 12/11/2004 9:31 AM

AngeWhatever: Take that Thomas Haden Chuch crap to grouphug.us
Until they make a toy of Thomas Hade(i refuse to type the rest of his stupid ass name), and THAT said toy is reviewed by Matt….STFU about some old washed up actor, who is in a weak ass indy film.
p.s. Mare says Dolph Lundgren is a better actor.

Sara:

I don’t believe there is an "official" way that LEGO mini-fig hands are supposed to go, but all of Lego’s literature depicts them with the flat side up, curvy side down.

If you look at your own hand, you can see how the fingers follow a curve down.

Mr. Church does need an action figure, after all he starred in a movie about the subject:

The trailer for Batman Begins will be on the official site Monday, but in case you can’t wait:

Between this and http://www.themoviebox.net/movies/2005/DEFGH/Elektra/trailer.php">Elektra, we can finally see ninjas back to doing stuff that ninjas do on the big screen in 2005.

I guess a 6 hour open bar knocked Matt for a loop. No 10th day Advent entry…or 11th day entry yet. Must have been one heck of a party.

I’m crying inside.

Wow, my question really IS that dumb!

Chestnuts roasted by Sara @ 12/11/2004 4:12 PM

My name, good sir, is Ange FAITORE.
FAITORE FAITORE FAITORE FAITORE FAITORE.

Thomas Haden Church IS NOT A WEAK-ASS ACTOR. DO NOT EVER TRY TO PICK A FIGHT WITH A THOMAS HADEN CHURCH FAN, YOU WILL NEVER HEAR (OR READ) THE END OF IT.
He’s more man than some of the actors out there.
Thank you ME. The Specials need their own action figures for real :)

SIDEWAYS, which THOMAS HADEN CHURCH co-stars in with PAUL GIAMATTI is the BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR. It is called so by MANY PEOPLE.

FINDING NEVERLAND is the MICHAEL JACKSON STORY :P
Actually, Johnny Depp as Michael Jackson… that’s not a bad idea.

What is it with Johnny Depp fans anyway?

Besides, Matt also reviews movies, TV episodes and cartoons, so you never know, he might review The Specials (It’s a satire about superheroes) or an episode of Wings (Which has odd cult status. Really odd cult status), so NEVER say NEVER.

By the way, if you’d like to continue this FLAMEWAR, I would suggest that you should get on MY VERY OWN THOMAS HADEN CHURCH MESSAGE BOARD:

Yes, I own THOMAS HADEN CHURCH THE POWER OF A LAUGH

Who the fuck is TH Church? Can’t place the face.

Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 12/11/2004 4:56 PM

THC – the stupid guy on Wings. I’d gladly give up that space in my long-term memory for a better piece of information.

Chestnuts roasted by Law Girl @ 12/11/2004 5:10 PM

THAT’S who we’re freaking out over? Granted, cool guy, he should’ve stayed on the show, but THAT’S who?

Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 12/11/2004 5:10 PM

Hey! Calm down folks! Save this biting at each other until after the holidays. Don’t make me have to turn the Internet around! Or power-up my Portal and hit both the Reverse and Randomizer buttons at the same time. Last time I did that, U.S. President Composite-Menudo was erased from history. They were the best Commander-in-Chief we never had.

Chestnuts roasted by kingklash @ 12/11/2004 5:16 PM

Oh my gosh, thank you KillaHill. Oh, and BTW, AngeFaitore it’s not necessarily a flame war just because someone told you (FINALLY) to shut the hell up about off-topic garbage. Or when you’re the one doing all the flaming.

Matt, are you all set on advert countdown commercials?

Chestnuts roasted by Law Girl @ 12/11/2004 5:21 PM

Sorry, I’m perhaps a little cranky from the "nice" email. Sympathy and empathy abound, but the warm fuzzies ain’t kicked in.

Now this is a side of Squee we rarely see. We should make her nice cards. :)
