Advent Calendar @ The Sushi Bar!

It's a big day on the Advent Calendar, as Mare, Knacks and Kuse celebrate their Christmas tree with a huge feast at the local sushi bar. They might even meet a new friend. It's a medium day on the Advert Calendar, as I make up for the crappy Dearfoams download with something you'll like better: the original Super Mario Bros. 2 for the NES. Enjoy. And what's your favorite Christmas/holiday song?

"Oh Holy Night" for favorite religious song. "Christmas, Don’t Be Late" for novelty. I’ll cut if off here before it turns into a laundry list.

Hey, my first ‘first post’ since the blog was in it’s wee little infancy.
Nice to see Kuse cutting loose and having some fun. This is my favorite so far.

Okay, I wanna know where in the Hell you got a play sushi bar???? Matt, you’re a genius.

Wow! As much as I have a great memory with Nintendo stuff, I totally don’t remember this SMB2 commercial at all. The memories of me playing it on my NES 15 years ago just rushed back to me. Thanks for posting this video up! :D

Jingle Jingle Jingle: Burl Ives

YAY IN THE TOP TEN

Bad Religion’s redition of Silent Night, mostly because they manage to put My Sharona in there, absolutely out of nowhere, and slip back just as easily. Beautiful. Dominic the Italian Christmas Donkey is my new number 2 though.

Favorite X-mas songs: Elvis Presley’s "Santa Bring my Baby Back to Me". In fact anything on his Christmas album, plus anything on "Christmas With Coniff" – Scary, isn’t it? but such was my childhood…And can I say that if I hear Madonna’s Cyndi Lauper rip-off version of "Santa Baby" one more time, I’m gonna slap somebody!

I’m glad to see Mare showing the gang some multi-cultural cusine. I was starting to worry about them.

Also, awesome find on the SMB2 commercial… I’ve been looking for that one for awhile.

O Holy Night sung by Cartman, and Korn’s version of Jingle Bells.

Yikes.. Mare scares me more when she’s nice! :S

Carol of the Bells. Me and my buds composed a heavy metal version to play at the town’s community talent show. We won 4th place. WOOHOO! TEN DOLLARS TO SPLIT BETWEEN FOUR PEOPLE! YAHOO!

Carol of the Bells by Manheim Steamroller. Absolute favorite.

Yay for the Mario commercial! When I was a kid I totally wanted one of those things. I was a girly-girl, (barbies, the works) but I loved video games. Mom & Dad never allowed one in the house, so when I got married, the husband and I stocked up. We have almost every game console (except Playstation. I hate their games.) We have all-night marathons on the weekends. (Right now the husband is gearing up to play Halo2 on Xbox live.)

Today’s adventure was awesome- drunk at a sushi bar- I never saw this coming!

Thanks for the wicked Super Mario 2 commerical! I also panted for that game, but didn’t remember the ad.

Best Xmas songs ever? "Jingle Bell Rock" as sung by the Muppets and "Happy Xmas (War is over)" by John Lennon

Keep the crazy drunken advents coming! :)

Band Aid’s "Do They Know It’s Christmas?". A Christmas perennial for me ever since the mid-eighties.

DUDE. Is that the Bratz Sushi Bar playset? I hope you burned those Bratz dolls in the name of all things .. namely. Anyway ..

BEST. EPISODE. EVER.

Dominic the Christmas Donkey right outta nowhere, and I fell in love with it. I’ve been making donkey noises all day at work. Could that be why they fired me today? Nahhhhh!

As for the advert (as the Brits call it): I don’t like how that guy says Mario. "Marry-o. Marry-o." I hate that guy.

1. White Christmas, Otis Redding
2. Baby It’s Cold Outside, DOris Day & Bing Crosby
3. Little St. Nick, Beach Boys

"This World" by Twila Paris.

Runner-up: "Sweet Little Jesus Boy" by Rebecca St. James.

My favorite Christmas song? "Deck the Halls with parts of Wally" as sung by the Crypt-Keeper on his X-mas album: "The Twelve Days of Cryptmas." Great, horrible stuff.

This was pure, unadultered X-E genius. It’s already close to topping last year’s advent.

I like Frank Sinatra’s I’ll be Home for Christmas and Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel for the religious themed song.

Chestnuts roasted by ANdrew @ 12/07/2004 9:03 AM

I’m with Overlord on this one – Band Aid’s "Do They Know It’s Christmas" is the song that gets me feeling the most festive.

And of course, I’m talking about the 1984 version and not 2004′s rerelease/butchering. (Don’t go there. No good.)

Chestnuts roasted by Ginrai @ 12/07/2004 9:20 AM

DTKIChristmas is probably my fave, but I just really like the song and the artists in it, I’m not so sure if it’s fair to lop it into the Christmas pile. But that’s probably the one. I like Paul Mc’s SHAWChristmas Time quite a bit, too.

Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 12/07/2004 9:48 AM

You can’t go wrong with Elvis Presley’s "Blue Christmas"
