10/30/2004: The 2004 X-E Halloween Art Expo, Part I!

Ah, let's take a look at some of YOUR works of art in X-E's not annual Halloween art expo.  This collection contains ten entries — more to come later or tomorrow.  For those who've forgotten the rules, here they are in illustrated form:

The deal was this: entrants had to draw a pumpkin with Dracula's hand coming out of it, add a banner with the slogan of their choice to said pumpkin, and somehow incorporate a goldfish.  Thanks to everyone who went through the trouble — let's check out the first batch…

Jeff B's entry loses a little after the size-down, and I can't tell if it's offensive or not…

LuigiHaan's entry is absolutely kickass — might be my favorite, and it even uses Pepperidge Farm Goldfish for 1,000 extra points…

Squee thinks outside the box and gives us the Dracula we've all been waiting for…

Arnie H. better hope his mom isn't reading…

Jen brilliantly chooses to let Drac pen the pumpkin banner…

I don't know what the fuck trajeal is saying with this one, but I love it to death…

BrianS currently attends F.I.T. and is heir to many fortunes…

More forward thinking on display from Marcus, not related to Marcus the Carcass.  I think.

For what it's worth, putting the blame on Dracula for a random fish death is pretty neat.  Thanks, Sean…

Robyn goes for style points, both in this entry and in using a "y" in her name…

More to come!

Hey, mine made it into the first ten! May not be the top ten, but it's the first ten, baby!

Ok, let me explain my slightly surreal artwork: Dracula and the goldfish are a singing duo - MC Drac and the Fish Meats. That's a microphone in Drac's hand. The fish is wearing a tuxedo. They have a hit song. Here are the words:

Everybody Stinks by MC Drac and the Fish Meats

“When the day was hot, and the night, the night is dark and damp,
When you’re all done with this life, let it rot.

"Just let yourself go, cause everybody dies and everybody stinks, at one time.

"Sometimes the shower doesn’t work. Now it’s time to let it breathe.
When your aerosol runs out (roll it on, roll it on).
If you smell like toxic waste, (roll it on).

"When you’re all done with this life, let it rot.
Cause everybody stinks. Sniff the armpit of a friend.
Everybody stinks. Don’t let Glade Plug-It In.

"No, no, no. Don’t Plug-It In.

"When you feel like you’re alone, breathe, breathe, breathe it in.
If the flies buzz by, call them in, the days and nights all reek.

"When you’re all done with this life, let it rot.
Well, everybody stinks sometimes
Everybody dies, eventually.

A"nd everyone runs out, sometimes. So, roll it on, roll it on.

"On, on, on, roll it on….”

Yes, I spend way too much time thinking about these things.

I'm kinda afraid of trajeal.

I didn't make an entry; no time :( Can I send you one anyways?

Knowing many people who are married and have kids, I can vouch for the fact that trajeal's sanity level is par for the course.  My sister is probably more relaxed out there in Iraq than she has been for a while.  Goin' Trick or Treating tonight1

Happy Hallo, all!

It has come to my attention that someone else has been posting under my name (or at least did it once; he was the third comment in the last blog).  I would like to say that in respones to this, I will be calling myself "The REAL Nate" until he stops doing this.

Anyway, I think I may need to head on over into photoshop and make something cool.  But first, I need to eat some grub and possibly go out and grab a pint.  Later.

Nate, if the other Nate comes back, everyone should refer to him as Filmation's Nate, as you are the REAL Nate (based off the hit movie).

If anyone is not at a party tonight make sure to check out the season finale of The Venture Bros. on Cartoon Network.  I was not a fan at first (due to the regular use of body fluid humor), but the characters have grown on me and the writers worked on both Tick shows.

So why did they call the Ghostbuster cartoon, the REAL Ghostbusters?

Posted by ME @ 10/30/2004 9:35 PM EDT

Looks like everybody had as much fun as I did. I was trying to go for a take-no-prisoners, ass kickin' Drac, while keeping his usual highbrow air. The fish is dancing. To celebrate Halloween.

trajeal, nice lyrics…have you set them to a tune yet?  and also, have you finished The Dark Tower yet?  I read a little, but I am stalling on finishing it…I mean I have an idea of how things could work out, but I don't want to see it end.  All this waiting and I don't want to read it now…my girlfriend thinks I'm crazy, but I digress.

I think that trajeal and squee242 are in the lead so far.  The one with the Goldfish crackers in it was allright, but no superdooper.

ME-'Tis true that that the ghostbusters' that we all know and love are not the original ghostbusters.  But I guess they had to give the cartoon some sort of unique title so that we didn't confuse them with the original GB.  Although I suppose they could've used a more appropriate title.  Perhaps something like "The All New Ghostbusters"  I dunno, I'm talking out my ass here.

Before I fall asleep, I saw a vintage candy store called B.A. Sweeties on the Food Network a few hours back that Matt needs to look into: www.sweetiescandy.com

Damn, good thing I can't sleep. Don't forget to vote for your favorite Cosby Show episode:

kidneyboy, the lyrics are set to R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts". So, I'm not so original.

I haven't gotten the last Dark Tower book. I'm still waiting for the library to call. I'm sure I'll buy it eventually, but I want to read it pretty badly, so I don't want to wait. of course, I've been on the waiting list for a few weeks now. I should check on that, actually. I wonder if I got skipped. I have a feeling I know how it ends, too. In a way, I'm not looking forward to reading it, as a way to keep the characters alive and familiar in my head. I don't want to ruin my memory w/ some cockamamie sad ending. Plus, you have to savor it. There will be no more. Once it's done, it's done. There's no closing that door, once it's opened (hey, I'm a Dark Tower shout-outer and I didn't even know it!). Sigh…

Kingklash, how was trick or treating last night? We're going tonight. Woohoo! It's really nice out right now, totally unlike average New England weather for this time of year. i bet we won't even need bulky jackets to hide our costumes! Maybe a set of flannel undies will suffice.

Great Artwork guys!!! :)

BTW, the Yeti/Puzzle box is classic.

Wow, I lose internet for a week, come back and all new XE articles, I loved the one showcasing Jason's faces because he always gets so left out in this website while Freddy Friggin' Krueger steals the limelight during every horror movie review!

My RA reads those Dark Tower books, and he's trying to get me to try them but I am refused.  Have you who read it think that they're good?

My picture didn't make it in because I had a REAL Dracula and eating a REAL goldfish in a fake pumpkin =(

I love the Simon's Quest "engrish" tribute.
