My dying wish is for an owl/camel hybrid, which I call camowl.

Countdown stuffio.

HEY! Well, sorry about the delay. I wish I had an excuse better than "I've been too busy to think straight," but that's the truth and I know it hurts. Here's a few subsidized entries to get us caught up so I can move onto cooler features as we enter the final week of the Countdown...
For October 21, a Head On A Platter. For October 22, Marshmallow Halloween Peeps. For October 23, I have absolutely no idea.
Say, do you think my boss would mind if I took off next week to write Halloween Countdown features on an unaffiliated website? Couldn't one of you throw me the flu or something? More entries on the way...

I’m going as Hank Hill this Halloween. Anyone know where I could get a fake Alamo beer can?

Just go lick a subway seat or something, that oughta put you out for at least a week.
Joe, that’s a cool costume idea, but without the Alamo can it would probably be a little nondescript. Please tell me you’ve worked some sort of butt-flattening contraption into your disguise, because that would be awesome.

Whee! Third Comment!

I love your drawing style.

Chestnuts roasted by Blargsnatch @ 10/24/2004 3:45 PM

So far the costume consists of me in a white tee and jeans (with Leatherman on the belt) and work boots. If anyone could mock me up an Alamo beer label I would forever be in your debt. Squee424 – that’s a great idea that I didn’t think of. Any suggestions on how to make that?

Why do the pumpkins have ears mommy?

Joy in Germany, new X-E articles…

That seems cool…and in a thread from an earlier article, didn’t someone mention that he/she was going as Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force?

…#5

are the pumpkin peeps actually shaped like little hearts or is that just the angle….?

Chestnuts roasted by VolklMonkey @ 10/24/2004 4:17 PM

also… you should keep those ghosts a-comin in a series of comics, they’re hilarious.

Chestnuts roasted by VolklMonkey @ 10/24/2004 4:19 PM

love the comics,
hate the peeps,
head on a platter,
that shit is so cheap,
sundays are boring,
I just wanna sleep,
but with the new entries,
i’m happy as…..uh…a sheep?

long live X-E,
pHunQsAucE

(yeah i’m kool, I used random capital letters…)

Matt,

What caused the grease-stain on the last comic page? Peep juice?

Chestnuts roasted by Dane @ 10/24/2004 5:23 PM

Only one week ’til the big day! I spent all of yesterday shopping for creepy decorations with my friend for her big bash next weekend. She has the perfect house for it- it was built in 1921 and looks kind of like the Amityville Horror house. Anyway, we bought this really creepy animatronic skeleton that you put in the ground. The skeleton claws and kicks its feet like it’s trying to get out of the grave. Really cool! Thanks for the great reads, Matt!

More comics!

Sucks that you saved the Peeps for so long, and then felt like you had to rush through the review. I’d like to see what Cobra would do w/ a Peep…

I love how you can come up w/ such funny shot pff the top of your head like that. The comedy just flows forth.

Hey, what ever happened w/ your commercial, Matt?

I so wanted to dress up as Weird Al Yankovich this year. Alas, I couldn’t find an accordian. Not even a pretend one. I have the wig, mustache and Hawaiian shirt. The Madonna thing didn’t work out too well. I obviously just looked like someone w/ a terrible sense of 80′s fashion. They took my picture for the context and then never put it on the site. They probably couldn’t figure out who I was.

Hey, Joe in OH, make up a label on your computer and laminate it on an actual beer car. You could flatten your butt w/ a thin, hardcover book or tight Ace bandages. Carry around an appt card w/ the urologist (for the narrow urethra problem). Maybe you could fashion up some kind of iron-on for Arlen Propane and (or Hank’s Bowling league name) and transfer it onto your shirt (like just above the right breat pocket or bigger, on the back). Is anyone else dressing up w/ you? Dale would be easy for a tall, skinny guy. Anyone dressing as Boomhaur would just have to mumble a lot. Bill would be harder, unless you have a friend who’s balding and has a three day growth of facial hair (Oh, and a hairy back). Good luck! Cool costume idea.

Heart…pumpkin…peeps? Wow. I think my brain just imploded a little.

Dracula’s head looks like Marshie from Homestar Runner, especially when Marshie was wearing a Dracula costume.

I would hope by this time next year Nickelodeon is running animated shorts based off your ghost comics in between Halloween programming.

The next contest should be to find names of the two gendered ghosts, and a comic title that won’t get you sued.

Chestnuts roasted by ME @ 10/24/2004 6:27 PM

awesome ghost comic.. yes, not elaborately drawn, but hey.. it’s cute :]

Chestnuts roasted by Jenny @ 10/24/2004 6:41 PM

Wee! 19th comment. Sweet Halloween thingie. It kicks Major Ass’s ass.

Chestnuts roasted by Walks @ 10/24/2004 6:42 PM

Okay, now that I’ve looked at it more thoruoghly, I can honestly say that maybe it doesn’t look like Marshie as much as I though it did, but it still reminded me of him. This is a sign that I have been watching far too much Homestar Runner (not that I’m going to quit).

On a completely separate note, let it be heard that I hate Peeps, including that chocolate crap. Those things are nauseating. However, that’s not to say that I don’t like the llok of them. They’re kinda cute, especially the Halloween ones. Is anyone here with me on the opinion that Peeps may taste nasty, but don’t necessarily look nasty?

Chestnuts roasted by Nate @ 10/24/2004 6:42 PM

I get the same feeling when I eat a peep.

Have you tried the Hostess Pumpkin filled cookies? Those are awesome.

Another thing I spotted that was sorta Halloweenish was Doritos limited edition “Black Pepper Jack” in a black bag. They’re ok.

Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown is on this Tuesday on ABC to satisfy your Halloween cartoons.

This week is Halloween themed shows on Food Network. Seems like mostly replays from last year.

When they go on discount I’m going to buy those Big Scream DVD’s for next year. They’re cool

Chestnuts roasted by JLAJRC @ 10/24/2004 6:46 PM

Forgot to mention the Pumpkin Pie Blizzards from Dairy Queen. Those are good.

Chestnuts roasted by JLAJRC @ 10/24/2004 6:47 PM

Thanks trajeal for the great ideas. I was also thinking about dressing my 1 month old up as a propane bottle. I tell you what… that boy ain’t right.

Chestnuts roasted by Joe in OH @ 10/24/2004 6:49 PM

“That seems cool…and in a thread from an earlier article, didn’t someone mention that he/she was going as Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force?”

That would be me. I got the wife-beater, blue sweatpants (couldn’t find any light blue) and the fake mustache. I was stuck in a dilemma with the hair, though. I could either get a bald cap to cover my entire head or a latex fake combover thing. I ended up going with the latter.
