Well. Halloween is my favorite holiday. That being said, my costumes didn’t start out that awesome. My first one, when I was like 2, was as a clown. But, since I live in Calgary, it was like minus 30 or something ridiculously cold like that (celcius, people. I don’t do farenheight). So my costume was actually just a snowsuit with balloons tied to it, and a big purple clown wig with a toque overtop. And facepaint, obviously. Next year I had one of the infamous plastic bag costumes, because they were the only thing that fit over that damn snowsuit (I was Miss Piggy). I knwo one year my mom made me a Counselor Troy costume, which was really awesome even though I didn’t like Star Trek and didn’t know who the hell I was dressed up as (at least I wasn’t a red shirt). Those are my most memorable kid costumes.

As a teenager I got a little slack on the costumes because my brother and I always said "We’re not going trick or treating, we’re too old". Then my dad, who wanted free candy, would convince us on Halloween that we ought to go just one more year. These Halloweens were always pretty cold, so there would never be many kids around and we’d get loads of candy even though our costumes were such unoriginal things as murderes (we each had a plastic knife) and politicians (all you need is a tie and a smile).

My best costumes have been as an adult though. I was a devil princess, meaning I wore devil horns and a huge poufy red dress. I was a wood nymph, so I could wear a toga and a plastic vine, and I was a vampire, like everyone ever. My best costume was Avril Lavigne though. I was at a club and people kept bumping into me and I’d give them dirty looks and push them off me, and they all thought I was just in character when really I’m just a bitch.

My dream costume though is as Sailor Mars. Man that would be awesome, but I haven’t done it yet because I’m always broke at Halloween and I will not have a 3rd rate Sailor Mars costume, like those cosplay people who have costumes that are like 3 sizes too big. No, I will only be Sailor Mars when I can convince my mom to custom make me a costume as good as my Counselor Troy one. One day…

I was 9 months pg for Halloween one year and I just wore a nun ostume over my huge belly. Good times…

I do remember, as a kid, wearing one of those inflatable alien head things. It was bright yellow, and it sat on your head like a hat. It was huge. I remember having a hard time sitting in the car w/ the head on. I would have to tilt to the side to fit under the roof.

My Spanish teacher tried dressing up as a vampire one year when I was in 9th grade. He put Vasoline in his hair for "effect", and it took him days to wash it out. Hee!

Oh, yeah. My poor kids have no choice of what they’re going to be this eyar. I got all of their costumes on clearance last year for $1 each. My oldest will be a poodle skit wearing chearleader type, my middle one will be a dinosaur, and my youngest, a frog. At least I don’t make my kids wear their older siblings costumes year after year, though.

Hmmm… Let me see, other than being majority of the time being a witch, I was also a Egyptian queen once and a cheap barbie costume (one sold at Walgreen for example) with it plastic mask that look nothing like her. So out of those choice, my guess the Egytian queen was probably the best costume since it was better made than the other.

If I dress up, I ALWAYS dress up as Arthur Dent. I put on a bathrobe, get a stained towel, get my old HP-48 with "Don’t Panic" painted on the cover and I jam a Swedish fish in my ear (I have to keep a supply handy, though, since they tend to get sticky and must be changed frequently.)

But, I had fun picking my witch costume (when I was little) at Toy R’ Us as I could also look down the toys for funs. What? Toy R’ Us may now focus only on Babies (Babies R’ Us). I blam Wal-Mart and other stores like it for lower it price to knock other buisness out.

I once wrapped myself in foil and went as a baked potato. Won a contest with that one. This year I was a trucker, complete with Elvis-style sunglasses and Amoco shirt from my gas station days. Once in my punk-teenage years and had "grown out" of All Hallows Eve, I was one of the annoying smart-asses who didn’t bother with a costume, just went door to door getting free candy. I have since grown back into it.

Halloween countdown! Yes, Yes, a thousand times yes!!!!!!

Best Halloween costume ever? I think my favorite was four years ago when I couldn’t afford a real costume so I went out as a human. But that’s only second to this year’s costume. I’m gonna be King Diamond and my two foot tall cousin is gonna be a puppet. (Like from the King’s Puppet Master record)

I went for minimalism one year, just wore a cardboard sign held by an extention cord around my neck that said "Monster"

Best costume I wore to elementery: a homemade Darth Vader. Just dark clothes and a cape, with a plastic mask. Wore my glasses underneath, and it gave the mask a nice lens effect with the eyeholes. As in past years, I have volunteered to carve a jack o’lantern for my nephew’s class. and one for my cousin’s daughter’s special ed class. Fastest free-hand carver on my block! Not that I’m any good, but it’s fast or it’s pie!

Let’s see…my first halloween that I remember, I was a witch. Then I was a bunny, then a gypsy (clip on earrings=torture), a cowboy, a mouse, a hippy, a Beatle, a punk.

My two favorite halloween costumes:
1. Bag of Jelly Beans. I wore a sweatshirt and my mom blew up a bunch of multicolored balloons and pinned them to the sweatshirt. Then she put a giant clear plastic trash bag over my whole torso and tied it up around the neck with a bow, and a price tag sign hanging off…

2. Snowflake. I wore white leggings, a white turtleneck, white socks and sneakers, white stretchy gloves. I cut out 2 giant snowflakes out of posterboard, and attched them sandwich board style to my top. I then doused my ENTIRE body…face, clothes, hair, shoes and everything in silver spray glitter. This was my very favorite costume.

What was that show, "Sky Racers" or something where the guys wore big backbacks and traveled across the sky on a string? I was a character from that one Halloween, it was a store bought costume. The kind that has the crappy plastic body suit with a picture of the same character you’re trying to be on it (makes no sense) and a mask.

I’ve also been a skeleton (came with those awesome pajamas that have glow-in-the-dark bones printed on them), a devil, that stupid Scream thing (before the movie), John Lennon, Jason, a couple generic grotesque rubber masks… damn I had some boring costumes.

Oooooooh, Halloween Countdown!!! I cant wait.

My best was either a home-made Boba Fett costume I made many moons ago, or when I painted myself totally green and used some green Mr. Spock looking ears I found to make myself into an alien. My wife dressed as Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz, so we were quite the unusual combination.

IT’s a three way tie between the Karate Kid, Michaelangelo from TMNT, and a hobo

Oh yeah I also went as The Undertaker one year.

I agree with Matt– That Golden Girls DVD feature sucks.

What about dressing up as a DVD and making "Director’s Comments" on the Trick or Treat? "I remember when we went to this house. The treats were okay, but you couldn’t beat the way the house was decorated! It was wonderful to work with these people."

Chestnuts roasted by kingklash @ 08/19/2004 3:50 PM

I was spider-carnage. Basically its Carnage and Spider-man combined. It was fun being the villian instead of the regular spider-man.

My childhood halloweens were all spent in the cheap-ass dress in black with a pointy hat from the drug store witch variety.

More recently I was a sufferer of Munchausen’s by proxy (2003) simple enough- wore regular clothes carried a dead baby around. In 2002 I was a stigmatic – By far my most creative moment ever! With some fake blood, bandages, brown lipstick and lotion i managed to create "the wounds of Christ" on my hands so realistically that the people sitting across from me on the subway pointed and audibly whispered that I probably should get to a hospital, or at least put some clean dressing on my wounds.

My best ever was a bum costume. I was going to go out all decked out as a bum, looked so authentic, but I came down with pneumonia. I had kids coming to my house bringing me candy – NO LIE! (made me feel like the Godfather) Other costumes were of the plastic front/half mask kind (McCr0ry’s 5 $ Dime store brand) – Batman, Superman, He-Man, Ninja Turtle (Leo), Army Soldier, Freddy Krueger. Plus I’ve worked/managed a Party Store for about 8 years. I’ve seen the best and worst there is to offer!

~Me want HONEYCOMB!

I think my best costume was in kindergarten I was an astronaut with a cool helmet with lights :) I was robin hood once too, GREEN TIGHTS!

I think this year I’m gonna be "El Caliente – Master of The El Pollo Loco Flame!" xD
