ROTJ Coloring Book Coloring Contest: RESULTS!

Well, 8 PM has come and gone, and with it, the chance to win a box of crap for coloring in Squid Head and Boba Fett. Got a little over 30 entries -- a few were lost in e-mail mishaps; say a prayer for them. The rest of you knew the rules: make magic out of this page:

Judging the entries was tough -- most of the good ones were so much better than the bad ones that the bad ones seemed four times badder than they actually were. And of the good, a few stood out. Part of me wanted to award the grand prize to Jay from Tupelo who so skillfully cropped fried calamari out of a Food Network picture and added it near Boba Fett's mouth. Instead I had Jay from Tupelo killed. The winner of the One-Day-Only ROTJ Coloring Book Coloring Contest is...

Jeff! Don't know Jeff personally. Don't know if I want to. But boy does make the mean Squidhead yes.

Jeff will win various trinkets of little worth, packed into a box we formerly used to litter box train. Thanks to all who participated -- I liked coming home to multiple Squid Heads. Here's the best of the rest, and sorry if yours isn't on here. I'm running out of time.

Guess mine didnt go through. Too bad because it was so much better than all of these! Really, totally, I swear.

I didn’t expect to win, but it was fun making mine anyway. And now you can all enjoy Boba Fett in a suit with a top hat and monocle.

Mine didn’t go through either, dammit. :( I DID send it again, though. I hope it at least can be put up? ^^ It’s really cool

YAY! 12th place!!

Voice inside: I think they’re up randomly after the winner.

Quiet you!

Man i wish I had talent. Or a life. Either would be greatly appreciated at this point. I guess i missed the whole contest thing. I feel slighty accomplished that i did pull out all my old coloring books and colored in them this morning. Though I guess i had the newest crayola’s, cause i couldn’t find half of the crayons from the review and there were a bunch of new ones like Pig Pink. Great Job to all the contest people. I’m impressed. Though it takes very little to impress me.

I though they made such a happy couple.

I agree with Cameron T. We should definitely do this again at some point. It is fun for the whole family (except where said family includes blind people)!

Aww, I even gave Boba Fett all his battle damage on his armor and everything. Oh well. Grats to the winner(s).

I didn’t need an extra box o junk anyway. I have enough of those to begin with. ;)

Chestnuts roasted by Silkenray @ 08/10/2004 10:48 PM

DAMMIT!!!!!!!! I missed the fucking contest!!!! I so would’ve entered!!!!!

Well, anyway, I hope you have another contest like this sometime soon. Fuck.

Mine’s the 4th one down, but it’s compressed so you can’t see the pictures on the wall in detail. I got some other X-E favorites in there too. Thanks for posting it, Matt!

Mine’s the 17th one down. I figured my gag was too obvious to get picked, but it was still sweet seeing it here.

BTW Matt, its CRUIZ not CRUID, or was that my typo? Honestly, I found out about this today and kinda rushed that email, so its possible.

Congrats to all. Good jobs all around.

greg and jdavis are winners in my book.

Matt, you couldn’t have posted brian stricklin‘s entry without expecting a barrage of "pHoTOg EnTRieS pLEaSe!" comments, so I’ll get the party started. PHOTOG PLEASE!

like i stated earlier, why was the WEREWOLF dude replaced with a pot smokin frog in the SPECIAL EDITION????????? please provide an answer……………

Chestnuts roasted by phunqsauce @ 08/11/2004 12:21 PM

Wow, I want Russell to teach me how to paint.

Seriously. Where is he?

Still, I thought my entry was good too. If I had won, I was going to refuse the advertised prize and instead ask for the chance to write one article for X-E in Matt’s place. It would have rocked.

Chestnuts roasted by Mars @ 08/11/2004 12:31 PM

Man…mine sucked so bad I didn’t even color it.

I wish I could read…

Chestnuts roasted by Walks @ 08/11/2004 12:53 PM

Aww, sorry I missed it! Not that I would’ve had time to enter something really great, but still.

And hey, JDavis — your entry was jolly good stuff. Jolly good! Great entries all around, actually. You all deserve more than nothing and time lost, but alas, we live in a zero-sum world. :P

Chestnuts roasted by Wes @ 08/11/2004 3:48 AM

The only remotely servicable idea I had was to draw a large arrow pointing to the crack in the wall with the caption "Honeycomb", and then Boba Fett would say "Honeycomb big, yeah, yeah, yeah" to which Squidhead would reply "It’s not small, no, no, no".

Too weak a joke to sumbit, especially if you haven’t seen the AndrĂ© the Giant Honeycomb commercial which Matt has archived elsewhere on this site.

Mine was the best because it looked like what an actual coloring book would look like had some kid named Kenny had his way with it. :( It sucked though

Chestnuts roasted by Will @ 08/11/2004 6:00 AM

I think mine got too personal for Matt ;)

Oh well, here’s my rejected one:
http://www.geocities.com/sadfsad2002/starwarsframes.html

I sent it in 15 minutes late, if Matt’s time limit was Eastern time.

Boo hoo.
