Remember that gigantic inflatable Spider-Man I picked up in the carnival article? I still haven't found the correct spot for it. Amazing, I know, it being a 7' bulky inflatable Spider-Man and all. Looks like it'd make a great pool raft. I don't have a pool. The preceding was an obvious lead-in to this article on the Game Boy Advance SP Classic, the retro-themed portable system complete with a nice library of classic NES titles. I'm definitely down with this one, even after blowing so much cash on games I'll play 1-3 times. Judging from the Amazon-100 poll in the last entry, I'm not the only one who likes licking this machine. More stuff coming to the blog tonight...

The ol’ brain hiccupped and this thought occurred: Could this just be a way to sell the GB Player for the ‘Cube? It may be subtle, but a plausible thing nonetheless. Think about it.

These old games are the biggest rip off ever. Nintendo could’ve easily put all those games, plus 20 others on a single cart. Excitebike alone is only a 10kb file.

I SO wanna get my hands on that retro-style GBA SP! And you’re right, even though the games cost more than the original NES cartridges it’s still worth it.

Matt, you made the right decision coming to GBA.

Seriously, it is a haven for someone like you. Remember old games? GBA! It’s like old games never stopped being made.

Try Metroid Prime. It’s the original Metroid, but done up All-Stars style (and with the not done up original version hidden in there too).

And try Wario Ware. Even if you only ever play the bit where you have to react to classic Nintendo games appearing on screen for four seconds at a time, you’ll have one of the best times you’ve ever had playing a game. Seriously, STOMP THE GOOMBA! SHOOT MOTHER BRAIN! MAKE THE ROBOT THING GRAB THE RING THINGS! QUICK! AGH!

GBA rocks me.

I don’t know why Nintendo only released Mother 1 and 2 in Japan as a GBA version.

Hell, after the efforts of Starmen.net, we’re not seeing progress. Never the less, I’m planning on trading my shitty Fuschia GBA to put towards a Retro GBA SP.

There’s one thing missing from this new GBA and that’s ….. THE POWER GLOVE!

Ah well my old NES has been stuck under my TV for years and I think the challenge in getting the actual games to work is more staisfying than the games themselves…. j/k

By the time I finally getting it to work, I’m normally too pissed of to enjoy the games, though I picked up so many rare classics for a couple bucks in mint condition back once NES interest reached an all time low … now days you pay 5x that for the most common, worst games the system in unplayable condition

Anyway I bought the GBA (1st version) the day it came out …. and it’s been sitting gathering dust for so long (sadly just like my GCN), I just can’t seem to bring myself to pay the high prices for games I’ve already got and played years ago.

Instead this year I’ve been buying all the old (failure) portable colour consoles like the Lynx II and Game Gear in perfect conditions with stacks of games for less than the cost of your average GBA game. Apart from the battery issue, I can’t believe what I was missing out on with my old GB.

On a lighter note, this week for about the the same price you paid for that package I got my own arcade machine for my room…. and like any classic arcade it has four versions of a classic game (1942) without being the original we love so much …. but soon I’m getting the original turtles arcade game

BTW: I’ve been looking for that extra long Nintendo commercial "The Wizard" for years (your article on it only further driving me crazy). Is there anywhere to get it? How about a DVD release (I’m in Aus so I guess it’d be unlikely)? Hmmmm maybe if they released a special bundle deal for the new GBA with the Power Glove and the Wizard included I’d definetly go and buy it

This article represents the main reason I love reading this site.

I also recently purchased a GBA for the lone purpose of playing "Super Mario 3". I have yet to buy a GBA game that was not first released on the NES. I have no need for new products. Just give me what I love!

I only wished the released "Star Tropics", as well. Then I’d be in NES heaven.

I am one of the lucky owners of 3 NES consoles… with 20 games or so… it’s better than the GBA NES EDITION

anyhow it is a nice attempt to keep the NES spirit alive….
