Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter.

It's my new favorite movie this week. The latest article details my ten favorite parts from Friday The 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter, a movie well-liked by hardcore Jason enthusiasts, but probably deserving of a bit more attention from casual fans. With everything from the infamous machete sequence to Crispin Glover dancing like Elaine, it's a gory, murderous, sex filled chunk of crap that I absolutely insist everyone go out and buy right now. In other news, I split the main page up because it got ten miles long again; if you're looking for articles that are no longer linked from there, they're here. Youuuu dead fuck.

A movie with a crazy, bald Corey Feldman killing a disfigured guy in a hockey mask. I love this place.

Jason Takes Manhattan could make for a good review. It was pretty bad, yeah, but it had its moments. Two thousand of ‘em. The huge cook in the movie later played Jason in Freddy vs. Jason. God, I’m a dork.

I hated JTManhattan when I saw it, and on subsequent viewings, but I may appreciate it more now that I’m on this Jason kick. I really just didn’t enjoy the climate of the movie, or how it looked — the killings and all that shit were okay. Ending was terrible, but would make for great review fodder.

I actually like Part II a whole lot, and that one’s got shitloads of mentionable scenes, so if I ever return to the F13 well, that be the one.

Matt, you are an artist. I appreciate that this is your job. It has kept me from fully focusing on establishing my chosen crafts. I do not mind. Love, Brad.

I don’t know who is more scary.. Jason Vorhees or the "World’s Smallest Women" featured in the carnival article.. damn, I’ve never had such nightmares!

Matt I think I may have found a typo You worte: " I’m pretty sure Shao Kahn would away brutality points only to Friday the 13th Part II"

Did you mean Shao Kahn would give away brutality points?

And I have to agree with you on part II matt, It is my personal favorite of the series. it has my favorite death sceene of all time, they guy in the wheelchair.

Dead fuck YES! Part IV is my favorite by far. The dancing scene has to be seen to be believed.

another awsome movie review~ Has anyone here seen "Battle Royale"? I’d love if Matt could review it, but I know it’ll never get released in the US.

Blech–this one was pretty dirty, though that’d be expected from a Jason movie. I just skimmed through it.

I don’t really want to see any truly scary horror movies in my life. I can read articles about them, but I don’t want to see any. I’ll tell you why: have you ever pondered what your very last thought before you die will be? I keep thinking, what if I see something horrible in a horror movie that I just can’t forget, and THAT is the last thing I think about?? Seriously, this is my reason. I’m scared of that happening.

Matt, I can always count on you to cheer me up.

Jason’s real face is fantastic.

Awesome article Matt!
Please review the film Sleepaway Camp one day.

Matt, you failed to mention the fat girl who gets killed on the side of the road simply because . . . well, she’s a fat girl on the side of the road. That scene is so funny, the way she eats the banana and how–if I remember–her hitchiking sign turns around into an "F.U." sign. Ice pick to the neck if I remember correctly.
I’ve kinda felt that 5 was really the underappreciated one of the series. The killer isn’t even Jason in that one and man-alive, the death scenes don’t get any better. The best being the Michael Jackson clone who lives in the trailer park, gorges on tacos and pizza, then gets killed in the crappiest (no pun intended) outhouse. Anyway, that’s the extent of my ramblings for a year or so.

Matt, you might not like Jason takes Manhattan, but that scene of Jason on Times Square is priceless! One of the best scenes in any Friday the 13th if you ask me.

Chestnuts roasted by Sjoerd @ 06/17/2004 4:19 AM

Inkmage — good call, good death scene. Random ugly banana-eating chicks usually make good death scenes.

Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 06/17/2004 7:57 AM

I am going to have to agree with you, Matt. This was my favorite Friday the 13th. Part one was his mom, part 2 he just had the stupid sack over his head…part 3 he finally gets the mask, which deserves honorable mention, but still didn’t have quite the shock factor of part 4. Part 5 wasn’t even him, and part 6 is where the series took the turn to the supernatural. The first 4 films just seemed to have more of the suspense angle.

Absolutely awsome review!

Chestnuts roasted by Stilewalker @ 06/17/2004 8:21 AM

Oh, I almost forgot…Tommy going bat-shit crazy and hacking the crap out of Jason was the greatest scene ever. Every horror movie has the surprise jump ending with the monster not quite dead yet, and Tommy was ready for it. He saw that twitch and just started hacking away with that crazed look in his eye. My friends and I cheered during that scene because it was what we always wanted to happen at the end of all the horror movies.

Chestnuts roasted by Stilewalker @ 06/17/2004 8:26 AM

I’ve always felt sort of neutral about the Friday films, though I always loved the character of Jason. I liked the killings and all, but my bloodlust always wanted more of them, the more brutal, the better.

Hey Matt, have you ever seen any of those Itallian horror flicks from the 70′s and early 80′s? There some gems out there. Dario Argento did a couple of good ones. Deep Red (the film that apparently inspired John Carpenter to do Halloween. Even the theme music is slightly similar)is creepy and bloody all at once, and Suspiria is a spooky and suspensful film, with one of the most brutal onscreen murders I have ever seen in my life, and keep in mind this was made in 1977.

I never saw Friday The 13th part 2, but I may have to check it out sometime. And part 4 definitely was an exceptional entry in the series.

Suddenly, I understand why WWE had Glen Jakobs shave his head for the Kane demasking…. It’s still idiotic, but at least I see why now.

Chestnuts roasted by Creature SH @ 06/17/2004 9:28 AM

I saw this one when I was about the age that Corey is in the film and I remember identifying with the character. I was a bit of a strange kid too. So the way I saw it, it was like I killed Jason. Go me! Although, given that logic I guess I also threw my career away and did too many episodes of Hollywood Squares. Boo me!

Chestnuts roasted by Blah...blah @ 06/17/2004 9:41 AM

I HATE horror movies, and I can’t stand watching them (though reading these articles are okay).

However, somewhat oddly, I have actually seen the end of this flick. It must have been on TV or something.

And yes, the ambiguous ending was cool…
