ME: ME: VH-1 thing fell through. It wasn’t for any show that I think they’re currently airing, so they may have scrapped it entirely. No idea. They were cool about it, and I stayed in touch with one of the people there for a long while afterwards. (she was intrigued by the Bitner search) They told me gears were switched and they were only getting celebs to do panel appearances instead of just "experts" or whatever. Made enough sense to me not to be too disappointed.

Sean, although I reluctantly agree that Kidd Video was good, I’d have to say, in live action 80s TV, nothing beats Degrassi Junior High!

~And the home of the Brave!

That is too bad, Matt. Have you been approached by anyone else? If not, then you should look into doing something on you own for direct release and profit through the site.

Speaking of Kidd Video, that would be a great way to handle X-E for a television series. There is always the Video Power way to go (See my name for previous annoying VP suggestion by ME), or even a mix of the two. You know Corey Haim would be down for playing the "real" Matt!

This is all of course if you have not already mapped out how to translate the site into another entertainment medium.

I just wanted to remind myself of a cartoon called "Galaxy High". CBS was cool!

Oh shit! Here comes my boss!

Hey, Inspector Gadget was cool and all, but Danger Mouse could kick his ass any day, and even if Penfold was double teamed by Penny and Brain, he could probably still womp them. But that’s just my opinion.

This brings me back, Donkey Kong kinda was annoying, not as annoying as the cgi on that now was on a few years back. The other day I came across some old Mask Crusader toys, anyone remember that show? I cant get the theme song out of my head now, hey Matt, how about a review of them?

VH1 was intrigued by the Bitner search, sweet…That means we need to get Amir Haleem(sp?) on the case, if he can reunite Flock of Seagulls, he can make anything happen…
By the way, they don’t need Matt on "I Love the 80′s"? The show is now a mere shell of its former self in my eyes…They could’ve also used Matt in "The Best Week Ever", because I know the best thing to happen to me this week, I met Gloria, the worlds smallest(and saddest)woman. PS–Now that I’m thinking about it, they say a normal woman having a baby is like pushing a bowling ball out, I wonder how Gloria felt during labor…I digress, looking for some easy mac now…

I had an idea about a movie somtime back. Had trajeal tap dancing with fish. But X-E product tie-ins would rule! Think of it, a digital keychain CHIA PET!

oh man i loved Q*bert as a kid. Watched the cartoon and played the game. The game sucked cos I had a messed up joystick and so if Q*bert got anywhere near the bottom cubes for longer then a jump you lost. It was awful. Wonderful to see it reviewed.

Man, I freak’n loved this show! My life revolved around this show when I was four. I can’t remember relatives that have died, I can’t remember any of the Spanish I spent three years learning in High School, but I remember Saturday Supercade!

Thanks ME!

I remember there was this one episode where the planet ran out of water. There was a scene of this creature chasing a drip of water. It had a coll song playing during it.

I also really dug the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon.

Chestnuts roasted by Sean @ 06/16/2004 4:10 PM

I have looked for ages for some site or p2p program that had episodes of Saturday Supercade, and have been disappointed. :(

It almost amuses me how I recorded quite a few Saturday morning cartoons back then, but I never ever seemed to have recorded a single Saturday Supercade.

Did I just see a reference to Kidd Video! Holy Sheeeeit! I loved that show. I’ve had songs from that show stuck in my head for years. Like that TLC song. Plus, they did a cover of Ride the White Pony on that show, and no one will believe that I saw what I saw. The song was used in reference to a trojan horse. Come to think of it, that was a strange show. Then again, I used to enjoy Teen Wolf, so…whatever.

Chestnuts roasted by manwithpez @ 06/16/2004 6:50 PM

Matt, what’s this about you and VH-1?

Kidd Video? Now there’s a show you don’t hear about often.

Chestnuts roasted by JLAJRC @ 06/16/2004 7:50 PM

Matt -
Have you ever played a coin-op game called "Chiller"? I downloaded it for Mame32. It’s a shooting gallery type game where you shoot people in torture chambers and graveyards. It’s the most disturbing video game I’ve ever seen. You should do a review on it. Hard to believe this was ever a real "arcade" type game.

Did osme oen mention the D & D cartoon? I loved that show. It is definetely a show matt needs to review.

Hey-

I almost posted this in the last Shrek feature, but this is more recent.

So I was eating a banana yesterday, and lo and behold, what do I see on it… "See Garfield the Movie." A Garfield banana sticker, instead of Dole or what-have-you. What, is this how they’re getting people to go see the movie? I was really surprised to not see Shrek, Donkey, or Puss in Boots. Go figure. I guess Garfield had less of the market to tread on. :)

Just thought somebody might like to know.

Chestnuts roasted by Rainbowfeet @ 06/16/2004 9:17 PM

Rainbowfeet: I saw the Garfield movie, it sucked. All it deserves is bananas, I havent seen Shreck yet, but I really dont wanna either so I can only assume its good enough to deserve its face on every product in the world.

Matt: Have you seen Garfield yet? Assuming you like(d) Garfield, you know the worse part? Not once does Garfield threaten to send Nermal to Abudabi. Not once!

Eh, I thought Garfield was a cute enough kids’ movie as long as you ignore the gangsta Nermal, the non-bitchy Liz, and the fact that Odie was originally Lyman’s dog (okay, all animated versions of Garfield ignored the existence of Lyman too). And that the movie took place in an unnamed midwestern city way too big to be Muncie, Indiana. (Though this film does break the modern rule… usually, when a city isn’t named, it’s filmed in Toronto, but this was actually filmed in Los Angeles.) I was just pleased that they took into account the "Peter Venkman" factor when they were casting the voices, and made Bill Murray the voice of Garfield, since Bill Murray played Dr. Peter Venkman in two live-action Ghostbusters films, and, in the first two seasons of The Real Ghostbusters, the voice of Peter Venkman was provided by the late Lorenzo Music, who was best known, to people my age, at least, as the voice of Garfield, but, since Lorenzo Music died in August 2001, it was a fitting tribute to have Bill Murray do the voice of his most famous character, since Music filled in for Murray as Venkman.

Speaking of Abu-Dhabi, I wish they’d release a Garfield & Friends song CD, since the "Abu-Dhabi" song was about Lorenzo Music’s best musical performance after "Scaredy Cat" in the Hallowe’en special.

Oh how I miss Lyman. Not due to him, but I thought the strips were actually pretty good back then. (I have collective editions..wasn’t reading comics at that point because I was just a sperm) Between those strips, the holiday shows, the Saturday toon and all of the books bought from the Troll Book Club, it’s hard to write off *everything* about Garfield as being a sucky, lucky success.

Don’t think I’ll see the movie till one of my siblings makes me babysit someone, though.

Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 06/16/2004 10:53 PM

Garfield has been and always will be the #1 fat-cat cartoon character in my eyes – screw Heathcliff! Basically, the first thing I remember knowing how to draw – and still can to a "T" is Garfield! His love for sleeping and lasagna always made my fat, lazy, Italian ass at ease.

I know all the words. My family sung that song for a long time.

Abu Dhabi, it’s far away!
Abu Dhabi, that’s where you’ll stay!
Abu Dhabi, the place to be
For any kitten that’s annoying me, la la la

Now some take a train,
And some take a plane,
But I am sending you
Not on a boat,
Or even afloat
But in a box marked Postage Due!

Abu Dhabi, now you’re all packed
Abu Dhabi, now don’t come back
Abu Dhabi, the perfect commute
for any kitten that is TOO DARN CUTE!!!
