Getting the fourth (fifth? sixth?)post in this blog.
Seriously though, it would be the day I received Beast Machines Tankor and TFTM in the mail, and discovered a long-buried passion. I giggled like a little girl all through the movie.
That would have to be the day that my best friend threw me my 15th birthday party- it was a surprise Luau party and it was awesome. I was in my first year of high school and all my friends from middle school were at the rival school. They all showed up, and people I hadn't seen since elementary school were there too. It was awesome. My best friend rocks!

Well, to be perfectally honest I probably cannot relate it here at this time. Would not be proper. But it involved a beautiful girl, a bottle of wine, and the boundless beauty that is nature.
or the time that I found the toyfare listed 45 dollar Roboto for 4 bucks at Toys r Us.
Yeah, that was good too.

Too many to mention, and choosing one seems like it belittles the others. Still, let's go with the most recent one…April 3rd, 2004.
I finally got the balls up to tell the girl I've had a crush on for months how I feel about her.
Admittedly, it wasn't quite what I had intended to say - it ended up being more along the lines of "You're really important to me, and I'm glad that we're friends." Still, that's a pretty major event for little old sociophobic me.
And yes, I am in high school - a junior, if anyone cares.

Think I'll follow jessica's example and get some ice cream as soon as I cash my paycheck. mmmmmmmmm…… Rocky Road….. drooooooooool….

This is sort of off topic, but I had something brought up to me the other day. Did anyone else have Mexican Pizzas at their school? They were the best tasting things in the world and it seems like you can no longer find them anywhere in the real world.
I mean, yes, I know you can get similar named things at Taco Bell. The thing is that they taste nothing like my gov't issued low grade school food.
*sigh* how I miss the Mexican Pizza.

I've Had many "best days," but one that sticks out in my mind would be the day I recieved my car-1998 Red VW New Beetle.
I had finished High School All Region Choir tryouts, and I didn't make it. I was pretty bummed, not to mention tired–the tryouts were an all day event.
Anyway, my parents had gotten the car while I was gone and had it waiting for me. It was pretty awesome.

The last day of seventh grade. I was being slightly snarkier than everyone else about this video my Christian Ed teacher had made us watch. He took me out into the hall to lecture me and goes into how I'd been a bad Christian in class *all* year (I'm Jewish), and he sure hoped for my sake I could turn around by next year or my *grades* would be in trouble (straight A's, even in his class; it drove him insane).
He had me sitting in a little plastic chair. He was kneeling in front of me, his soft white underbelly totally exposed. I had a long history of abrupt kicks towards the sensitive places. He was leaving for another school.
And still, he had absolutely no idea.
Oh, the way his eyes bugged out.
I take joy from all the wrong things. (Oh, and the day I got my own computer was pretty good, too.)

I was 16 back in '95 and somehow I stumbled my way into this local LA GothPunk band called Frankenstein (Old School GothPunk. Think like, The Cramps or 45 Grave). I played sax (Baritone) and ended up playing one show with them. I'm sure I sucked, but it was still the coolest damn thing…. Almost cooler is that I found the band is still around. I need to write them and say "j0!"

I know it was a shitty day for just about everyone else in the country, but I had a great day on 9/11, personally. Had the day off from work, stayed home laughing and playing with my girlfriend, bought the new TMBG CD that came out that day (John Linnell: "Our new album was released on September 11th, this is part of our "Good Luck" strategy…"), and when I finally came home and turned on the TV, my first thought was the same as everyone else's… but my second thought was "Let's see that election-stealing motherfucker weasel his way out of THIS one." What a wonderful feeling of hope for the future! Too bad it hasn't come to anything but grief and misery.

G'Tron @ 04/30/2004 8:14 PM EDT
That post looks a little heartless on further reflection… I should point out that it wasn't 'real' to me yet, it was too bizarre to comprehend. Living all the way over on the other coast, it takes time for things like that to really penetrate… but I spent weeks feeling really guilty over feeling so good on that day, and doubly guilty over my hepatitis-tainted blood being unsuited for donating. One day's pleasantries don't make up for a tragedy of that scale, I'll tell you that right fucking now.

Posted by
G'Tron @ 04/30/2004 8:21 PM EDT
I understand, G'Tron. It didn't sink in for a little while. Sometimes getting the day off makes you ignore the implications. I also had a good day. In retrospect, I'm ashamed to have had such a good day.

Hard to say…but I did have one of the best weeks of my life about two weeks ago. Went out to a fancy Easter dinner with the family and had a great time and had an even better time eating ham with them the next night, visited a girlfriend and her awesome grandma, and went on a shopping spree and bought myself a DVD player and the first season set for "The Monkees" (yes, the weird 60s sitcom/video show most of you, including me, probably recall from it's mid-80s MTV revival).

Best day ever? Lots of those, but here's the one that sticks in my mind. I remember the day my parents bought my brother and I a NINTENDO! Not just any Nintendo, but the POWER SYSTEM!!! It had the GUN, the POWER PAD, and the triple game cart (SMB, Duckhunt, and World Class Track Meet). My brother and I flipped out!!! I still remember throwing myself on the floor and writhing in delight!

Fun Factoid: Their hand signal would later be used by Diamond Dallas Page, and more recently Jay-Z

Don't really have a best day. Best moment is singing/dancing/airbanding Boston "More Than A Feeling" and 54*40 "Lies To Me" at 2:30 a.m. on the radio, in front of my window while dressed up like a shirt ninja. Or doing the same to "Baby Have Some Faith" (54*40 again) a week prior at 5:00 a.m. then making eggs and performing social commentary for myself. Yep.

Now… bets day of my life? First day I met my girlfriend in person. Yeah, I'm one of those guys that fell for a girl he met online. We talked online and on the phone for six months before meeting each other in New York for the first time the last week of December, 2002. And a couple days at the start of 2003. Awesome? Awesome. It still bugs her that I saw her first in the airport. Neener neener! I'm just glad she didn't kill and rape me like she'd been threatening to for all those months. Whew.
Nothing in my mind stands out as the bona-fide best day of my life…I will say this though, too many of you people have mates. Quit doing that! How do you think it makes us single people feel???

Yeah, man. The POWER PAD rocked. When we first got it, we lived in an apartment, ABOVE SOMEONE ELSE. The guy that lived underneath us worked nights and slept during the day, so we could only use it at night when he was at work. And back then, my bed time was early, so I barely got to use the thing. But I'll never forget it.

Tough Q about best day. A few instances come to mind.
For some reason I can clearly remember the day we were at the Pennsylvania state fair and I tried a Gyros for the first time. I love those damn things.
I don't know if it was the best day of my life, but it led to the best time in my life, thus far of course. I was a senior in high school. I was accepted to the school of my choice. I was free of my past and free of the future. The next months of high school were a blast cause I didnt care and just fucked around. That summer was even better. Never been freer, can't wait to go back there someday.
PS- I also have a working NES. I am actually sitting in the spot where we used to play it when we first got it. I vividly remember that night. Never forget it thats for sure. It also began my unhealthy obsession with Castlevania.

The day I finally got my Sega Megadrive (or to everyone NOT living in the UK, The Genesis). Since all I had played on before was a Commadore 64 and the classic Atari 2600, I thought the Megadrive was pretty damn cool.
I remember plugging it in for the first time and thinking "Sonic the Hedgehog rocks!!!" But then came RoadRash and Sonic was cast out onto the tarmac with the rest of his pathetic kin….

Matt, have you ever reviewed the third Texas Chainsaw Massacre? I know there was talk when the remake came out, and the originals review. You've seen the third one, at least? Wow, was that ever bad. I think monkeys w/ the d.t.s wrote that script. Oh, and the ever so popular fight scene between Benny and Leatherface, w/ the chainsaw cheerleading squad. I swear, that thing was doing the Wave. "Firecracker, firecracker, shish-boom-bah! Pound him in the head w/ a rock! Rah, rah, rah!"
I would have sworn that one of the mediums for kingklash's Best! Day! Ever! would have had something to do w/ the Duck coming back.

Totally off topic, but I was watching Transformers the movie today, and wondered. Do you think Arcee was pulling double duty with Hotrod and Springer? Because you know she kinda acts like she's going for springer at the begining, but then she seems like she's going for Hotrod. Eitherway, without Elita One, or the other fembots around, she seems to be like smurfette, maybe she was with all of em. This brings about the whole concept of transformers sexuality, and why the hell they needed a masculine and a feminine in the first place, seeing as they only seem to reproduce via building fresh recruits. And what did Alpha Trion Transform into anyway?

That would have to be the day I found out I would be graduating early unstead of a semester late, got a call from GamePro offering me a job, and became permanently immune from being trapped in the "friend zone".

Trippy-Those are damn good questions. I mean, why the hell did they need different genders. They're machines. And it is true that they had never shown what Alpha Trion turned into. However, I'm wondering if there was a toy ever made. Perhaps that will show us what he transformed into.

January 3, 1998. Proposed to my then-girlfriend, and she accepted.
We never did end up getting married (seems fate had other ideas for us), but on that day, I was higher than I'd ever been in my life.
Though the way things are going, September 2, 2003 is a strong contender (met the girl I'm still with and may well be with for life), but the day itself was crashingly dull save for that one (seemingly insignificant at the time) event.
The day I had the most fun - Some friends of mine showed up at my door at about 1 am. I was a sophmore in highschool, and we used to sneak out all of the time. This time they brought along a ride. I lived on a golf course and they had swiped one of the golf carts and came by to pick me up. We spent the whole night driving all over the golf course doing crazy stuff. We even went back to the storage area and got a couple more carts so we each had one. Eventually, they would start to over heat and smoke, so we would have to go back for another one. Finally, at about 5 am, the lights went on in a house we drove by and we freaked and brought the golf carts back.
I left for vacation the next day and when I got back, my friends told me the police had gone door to door trying to figure out who we were. luckily we got away scott-free, and the golf carts are now locked in a high security underground bunker over night. God, that was a good time.

The best day in my life is the day my mom told me that an E-Mail I had sent to my stepdad had made him cry in happiness. We had a rough time while I was growing up, and that day we made peace.

Probably the best day of my life was losing my virginity to the girl I loved. I was one of those strict Southern Christians that was told to wait to marriage, so when I gave up on that shit, it really meant a lot to share it with someone I was head-over-heels for. It was also one of the scariest days of my life.

Best day? I think one of my best days was the day I closed on my first house - I was so proud! I was only 29, and a secretary (ok ok, administrative assistant *ugh*), and I did it all by myself!
MAN did I feel good! Big girl!

When the doctor told me I didn't have worms anymore, it was the happiest day of my life.
The day Matt reviews "Mac and Me" would probably beat that, though.
Probably the only athletically-related one anybody's gonna post, but my best day was just over two years ago, on the last day of the Division III Swimming and Diving National Championships my senior year, when I swum my last college race ever. (And, to be honest, my last "real" race ever… I can do Masters, but it's not the same.) It was, as I said, the last day of the meet, and the day of my best event, the mile. (1,650 yards.) Not sure how many of you have ever swum that for time, but trust me, it is a loooooong-ass race; my best time going into it was 15 minutes, 53 seconds. Well, of every Division III swimmer in the nation, I was seeded, I believe, #6 going into it… in a fog I wandered through the day, meditated, rested, warmed up, and sat with my teammates waiting for the evening session to begin, kicked off by my event. Finally the time came, they called us up to the blocks and announced us all by name… I heard my family and teammates screaming, along with the hundreds of other people packed into the pool area… and I dove in, went to my happy place, and emerged from the water a quarter of an hour later, semi-comatose, with a time of 15:43.76. Not only did I annihilate my former best time by 10 seconds, I also set two school records (for the mile and the 1000), inspired the rest of my team to have a great night, and placed 4th overall in the event, the highest place I'd ever gotten in that meet. Hell of a way to end a career, I'll tell you that.
Of course, that was only half the happiness of the day- that night, we had a massive "We can finally drink again!" celebration in our hotel, with tons of alumni present and coach wandering the halls bellowing at us to keep it down, dammit, not everyone in the hotel wanted to be awake at 3 in the morning! Didn't matter; nothing in the world could dampen our spirits. I had been dancing around a sort of are we/aren't we? relationship with this fellow swimmer since the team Christmas party earlier that year, but that evening we talked, drank, and finally kissed and made it official. Being rather shy and inexperienced at the time (didn't really start drinking till senior year, so no drunken hookups for me… *sigh*, all those wasted opportunities), I didn't manage to convince her to stay the night (which, to be honest, would've been kinda hard to do with other people passed out in both beds), but even so… it just felt so RIGHT at the time, after the constant tension and emotions of earlier. Amazing day, amazing night. Best of my life so far, and I know the girl who took my virginity would be somewhat offended by that statement, but… so be it. Occasionally, just occasionally, some things are even better than sex.

I'm savoring the emotion from the Duck's return (it qualifies as my happiest online moment). I also have a working NES. Supposedly Alpha Trion was so old, he came from a time when Cybertronians had no need to TransForm yet, or so implied. Yesterday, it's been five years since my Ma had her first heart attack, and as we were going to see her at the cardiac care center down in Lawton the next day (five years ago today), that was when we had those tornados rampaging all over the place. Not a happy day, but one of the oddest I ever had.

It would have been when I wa 6 ('86), and my Dad took me over to the christmas tree, and said "There's no Santa Clause…You were a mistake and we hate you". Oh, wait. Okay okay…
When I looked at the free kittens at a pet shop and played with one, and she purred and snuggled me. Then I put her back in the cage because I wasn't going to get one, but then she got on her hind legs and put her paws on the cage bars and meowed everytime I was near. And, she didn't purr or meow for anyone else! So I HAD to take her! She's been a joy ever since.

The Wierdest thing… it was like 5 years ago today, and I remember it because all these tornados hit Oklahoma City, and I was in Nebraska.
Anyway, I ended up making out with this girl who was engaged to be married– she had only kissed 1 guy in her life–her fiance' and as stuff like that went, he'd only touched her boobs outside her shirt.
Well– we didn't stop there with me, no sir! She wanted to make out with someone else so that she'd have meaning to her life, and so that she wouldn't go to her grave only having kissed 1 guy.
Well–to her her credit, she didn't want to do it after she was married, and this was about a month before, and boy–what a great time!
We did everything… Upside Down, Right side up, with food, with blindfolds, etc. Everything–except that I didn't go all the way to home plate with her… I told her that if she had waited this long, her husband deserved to have her first. But man– I saw, touched, and tasted EVERYTHING. We got together about 5 more times before the wedding. I've never seen her since, but whoo! She was hot and ready to try anything!
She eventually sent me an invitation, but I didn't feel right going so I sent her a camera and some film (no, not of us!).
I don't know if that was the best day of my life, but it was the first that came up in my mind.

Wow! I just went and re-read that… King Klash, I didn't know you were from Oklahoma. That tornado totally destroyed that little town just on the south side of it. Sad, man.
Separately, I haven't heard from the gal I spent those 6 days with, but my buddy is cousins with the guy she married. One night he and I got drunk in San Diego and I ended up telling him all about it… bad move, believe me. I had no idea they were related at the time.
Still–maybe I am getting my comeuppance now b/c my girlfriend of 18 months just told me 2 things on Sunday–nearly making Sunday night the WORST NIGHT OF MY LIFE. 1) She's been seeing another guy behind my back.
2) She's 2 weeks late on her cycle (no, not unicycle! The other one!)
Wierd. I'm not quite sure what to do, and I honestly don't know who to turn to. God, are you there? Its me, Margaret (only, I substitute my name for Margaret's).

If you look on a map, and check the path of the supercell, my little burg of Anadarko got skirted pretty close. In fact, I saw one of the twisters as my sister and her family, with me in tow, were in the town of Apache on our way to Lawton. From our angle, with the sun at our backs, and ’cause tornados drop from the edge of storms, it looked like a steam plume with attitude. Had some good stories to tell Ma at the hospital. But the OKC radar images on the news made the cell look like The Paisley From Outer Space. As for your female trouble, as I said before, this is a Quantum Universe, on some paralell Earth, she's dancing naked in the town square with your head on a stick. That's why you're supossed to try to lead a decent life, somewhen else, you are the most evil you could possibly be. And riding a unicycle.

Peter Engel ( www.imdb.com/name/nm0257137/ ) came to me in a dream and cursed me out for not mentioning his aptly titled show with USA Network called "USA High" ( www.imdb.com/title/tt0118500/ ).
Jeez, USA still has a page up for the 1997 show:

Matt- Have you ever read any Jhonen Vasquez comics? I got the Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and Squee collections, and they're some of the funniest things I've ever seen. There's something noteworthy in one issue, though, that I took the liberty to scan:
http://www.dkvine.com/webmasters/behonkiss/nukie2.jpg
Jhonen knows his stupid stuff, doesn't he?
Behonkiss-Sweet stuff. Yeah, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac typically appeals to people of our sort, so it doesn't surprise me that a Nukie 2 poster has shown up in Johnny's room.
Personally, I only read it every now and then, but it's good stuff, and I am definitely the sort of person who's into obscurities.
