Jaws: The Nintendo Game.

The first guess was right, here's my review of the Jaws Nintendo game, where we battled with the world's most famous shark using spears, bombs, strobes and our own two hands. A pretty terrible game that still managed to bewitch a few people, it's hard not to appreciate an attempt to get Jaws out there in any way possible. Review includes Mrs. Sbaitso's audio version, and a lot of images aligned jusssst right.

Lonewolf, Yes! Zombies ate my neighbors is one of my favorite SNES games, still play it a lot. I remember buying mine when Halloween was nearing way back when.

I believe the first video game I ever bought with my own money was Goonies 2 for Nintendo. It was a decent game. Really weird, but decent.

I don’t know what the first game I bought was… My parents let me pick games, and paid for it with my birthday/Christmas money without me realizing it… I’m currently the proud owner of 252 videogames, a few PC games and a nearly a gig of roms of games I missed out on due to buying games based on boxart, and having no income as a kid.

To correct a statement earlier. Maximo is not the sequel to Ghost and Goblins. Instead Ghouls and Ghosts and Super Gouls and Ghosts is all part of the Ghosts and goblins trilogy. Maximo is just a cheap rip off claiming to be it. I was not impressed with the game. It stunk to Hell.

Three year reader, first time writer- I just had to say that I will always have a place in my heart for LJN. Back in the day, my Dad was friends with the guy that ran the LJN warehouse at Port Newark, NJ and we got almost anything made by them for free. (My Dad was a cop, maybe he was really bad at being on the take and accepted toys- never thought about it) We got their Nintendo games, the rubber WWF guys, Thundercats, and a Michael Jackson microphone that was supposed to make your voice come out of the radio- though the thing didn’t work nearly as well as it did for Bart Simpson.

Anyway, I had T &C Surf Design before I even had a Nintendo. What torture for a 12 year old to get a game for the hottest thing around and not be able to use it! Also got Jaws, Friday the 13th and Back to the Future for free. Yes, they all sucked in their own way, but the thing is that we didn’t know any better at the time. I got a lot of use out of a lot of crappy games. I remember being amazed at title screens just because Atari didn’t have them.

You know how everybody has a "rich friend" growing up? Even if you’re upper middle class, you still had a "rich friend"

Well, my rich friend had one of those sweet projector TVs (the kind that projected from the floor, so nobody could be in the room while you were watching TV unless you were on the sofa right behind the projector.

Anyway, despite being rich (this TV was in the game room… which was basically the whole 3rd floor) he always had the worst games. I remember being kind of bummed, because going to a rich kid’s house, you should always be playing the best games, but it was always Jaws and 1942.

by the time I was there for a couple of hours, I just wanted to go home and play zelda.

I here you there chopstick sensei. Although I didn’t have a "rich" friend, cause I live in the ghetto where the only "rich" people are the drug dealers. But we still went over to each other’s houses to get in some good gaming. We usually left because we would end up playing Double Dare, and the control response on that game was horrific and every time I’d be on the final challenge it’d screw me over big. Damn that Double Dare obstical course. But I always wanted to go on the real show….that’ve been mondo to the max.

We had this game, and I can tell you out of a million tries I NEVER was able to stab that overgrown fish. I always that it was downright impossible. That screenshot was the first time I’d seen it!

I had this game. I bought for $20 and beat it in about 2 days. I kind of liked it though.

Chestnuts roasted by Nate @ 04/15/2004 7:03 PM

I should probably add that that was the only time in which I was ever able to beat the game. I couldn’t poke that damn fish after that.

And Matt, that Sbaitso thing is damn creepy. I hope I never have to actually see one of those. Especially not in a store, because I know I’ll buy it.

Chestnuts roasted by Nate @ 04/15/2004 7:19 PM

I think that the first game I bought myself was Super Mario Land 2 for Game Boy. The damn space level that scrolled would kick Mario’s ass every time.

Chopstick Sensei: "You know how everybody has a ‘rich friend’ growing up? Even if you’re upper middle class, you still had a ‘rich friend’"

I don’t think I’ve ever known a rich person, ever. And I live in a major city. Your statement is false…

Don’t lump us Libertarians in with those other jackasses. Since you left it out, I am guessing you are a socialist?

I don’t think I ever had to buy a game, my brother bought all of the games. But I think the first one he bought was Little Nemo. I hated that game. That too, was another game I could never beat. I think I could only make it to Level 3. The only games I was ever good at were the Super Mario games, Castlevania, Contra, and duck tales. Yea for me…

Chestnuts roasted by BettieBoo @ 04/16/2004 5:03 PM

I guess I must have been one of the few to complete the Ghostbusters game. Oh and where’s PART IV OF THE CHIA PET PLOT?

Chestnuts roasted by Liam @ 04/16/2004 5:53 PM

You beat it in 12 seconds. I must have only played it for 11 seconds. I could not get past the first stage. Same for Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm st for NES.

Double O Fresh. But this article begs the question: When will you review LJN’s Karate Kid NES game?

Chestnuts roasted by Slacker @ 04/19/2004 1:43 PM

I knew a friend in New Jersey that had this game. Of course, we had no idea what we were supposed to do in this game so it didn’t hold our attention for very long.

Chestnuts roasted by Bert Raccoon @ 04/19/2004 5:06 PM

Joe, I remember Pirates, I rented it once. It was a damn great game.
