New Article: The Ultimate Modulok Tribute!

A rewrite of a rewrite of a rewrite, here is my final tribute to Modulok, the Masters of the Universe/Princess of Power villain with twenty-two interchangeable parts, including two heads, six legs, six arms and a couple of tails. Loved this thing more than you could ever imagine. Feature includes a look at the toy, the character, the commercial, the instruction manual and the box. A whole lotta Modulok, Modulok, Modulok. Easily one of my top ten favorite toys throughout childhood, this was the ultimate He-Man figure. or was it She-Ra? Mosdoasodosdodulok.

Wow, Modulok!
To me, Modulok always belonged to MOTUverse, since I’ve only seen him in comics… Now, I’m off to read te article!

I can only regret my MOTU figures were few. He would have been a worthy opponent for my GI Joes.

You spread a disease Matt. After reading your May 2000 article I rushed out (and by out I mean onto Ebay) to buy one of my own. At 19 years of age, I’d still rather play with my Modulok than visit my family!

Dammit now I want a Modulok and a Multi-Bot! Again I mean.

I never had a ton of MOTU toys (3 3/4 G.I. Joes something like a $1 and a smile in the late 80s, then it was all about Ninja Turtles), but my childhood bestfriend did…as well as everyother toy that had a television show or movie.

The point? HE MIGHT STILL HAVE SOME OF THIS STUFF! LET’S STORM HIS HOUSE! THE INTERNET IS COMING FOR YOU ZACH!

Best He-Man article in a long time. Good job!

modulock is my favorite he-man/she-ra toy, by far. I lost a lot of the peices in a short amount of time, but i always found them later in the weirdest places.

the panel where modulock is climbing through the tube, he deffinately has a dick around his neck.

It’s too bad the MOTU revival failed. Can you imagine an updated Modulok sculpted by the Four Horsemen? :o

Chestnuts roasted by Meatwad @ 03/25/2004 7:48 PM

Chestnuts roasted by meef @ 03/25/2004 7:50 PM

modulok and multi bot rule!

Chestnuts roasted by sdtha @ 03/25/2004 8:24 PM

You guys are lucky. We only got (and get) the basic action figures down here, and nothing like this fellow. I completely do not remember him, which is rather surprising, since my sisters and I were all huge She-Ra fans and had most of the She-Ra dolls we could get our hands on.

i had modulok and he ruled. i think i tried to eat his tail once though

Chestnuts roasted by liam @ 03/25/2004 9:02 PM

I had a feeling your fav toy was modulok:)

Chestnuts roasted by Scourge @ 03/25/2004 9:30 PM

$50 from birthday + discount toy place = a couple dozen Modulok Figures. [That is right, I have tons in a box in my attic.]

Chestnuts roasted by Lincoln @ 03/25/2004 9:37 PM

Wow, I need one now. Those pictures of Modulok in various bodily contortions were most fascinating and made my own fingers itch. My solution? I grabbed the only thing in my dorm that beared some resemblance: my molecular model kit. It’s colourful, plastic-y, and makes a snapping/popping sound when I put pieces together.

Screw digital camera. I’m getting meself a Modulok.

the audio at the begining of the commercial made my ears bleed.. after I cleaned that up I stood in awe as He-Man didn’t do SHIT to Modulok just like Matt said.. I didn’t believe it when I read it, it was something I needed to see for myself. It has shaken the foundation of my existence

Chestnuts roasted by HeWhosNoLongerHears @ 03/25/2004 11:11 PM

I had a ton of MOTU figures but I never owned Modulok. Thanks Matt for showing me what I missed out on.

Chestnuts roasted by Meatwad @ 03/25/2004 11:51 PM

Man, I remember I used to have Modulok! Though I think I was 5 at the time and to stupid to create anything cool with him. And is it just me or does it sound like Satan himself chanting "Modulok!" in that tv commercial?? Modulok!! Modulok!! MOOODDDULOOK!!

Chestnuts roasted by Wompdevil @ 03/26/2004 12:58 PM

Wow, Modulok. He was like the Holy Grail of MOTU figures to me. In fact, Modulock was the only way my parents could convince me to go through with the dental surgery I had to have as a kid. If I did it, I got Modulok, ok. Letting people slice open my mouth seemed like a fair trade. I even distinctly remember halucinating little modulok heads in an infinite line all converging on a centerpoint in front of my eyes as they put me under with the gas mask. At that moment, the deal was starting to feel a lot less fair. Anyway, got my modulok, played with him for nearly 4 days before I lost interest… Stupid ADD.

Chestnuts roasted by Pagz @ 03/26/2004 12:58 PM

Dammmmmn g.

I need my girlfrend to do the positions of modulok. Then I will be the most happy camper!!

Chestnuts roasted by Kingbow @ 03/26/2004 1:00 AM

I found out that Kopper Popper places in various malls across America sell chocolate covered twinkies. For anyone that wants a chocodile, you can still get them easily.

Chestnuts roasted by mindsuckr @ 03/26/2004 1:04 AM

Modulok rocked in the cartoons! Evil and smart and a cool voice! BUT, how can you diss the Cloud Car Pilot?! Are you kidding?! The figure that had a hand molded just right for holding a tasty adult beverage? I always had him be the drunk of the group with the other Star Wars figs. He was a pilot and an alcoholic, it was gold! Thank Christ they’re finally releasing a new CCP later this year!!!!

About your "emglulfnabetz" word that you’ve got in the title bar today…I’m probably the only one who knows the origin of that word. It appeared in a comic book ad for Reeses’ Pieces in the mid-80′s. Yes, "Jurisprudence" was in it.
