New Article: The Polly-O String Cheese Commercial!

I'm not sure how many of you will remember this commercial, but around these parts it's one of the longtime faves. There's only one place in the world where kids call for extra cheese and held crusts, and it's the Polly-O String Cheese Ad, famous for its wacky pizza parlor, strange customers, John Capodice and an assault on everything holy as Schjimi and the audience ponder life's greatest question: how can you have a pizza with nuttin? There's a download with the review, of course.

Huh. I suppose that commercial does have its own charm. Perhaps if I had been older than one or so I too would remember it with such fondness.

growing up, my sister and my friends used to mimic this commercial all the time, with incorrect pronunciations.

Hahah, I loved the look on that old man’s face!! Too bad he’s most assuredly dead now, his most memorable moment in life a one-liner in a cheese commercial.

I remember this commercial, but I don’t think it stuck around in our school’s culture as much as say the clapper or ‘I’ve fallen and I can’t get up’

Dude, you neglected to mention how REALLY BAD the commercials got after this. . . with the parrot that RAPPED. "The best part of the pizza. . .WORD"

He even shilled for the Pepsi Chill Out and told you to get your "License to Chill" Card. I hated that douche bag. He totally made me throw up my Dunkaroos.

Being a string puller, I’ve never really understood the chuck biters. I mean, it’s STRING cheese. It’s meant to be pulled apart.

Hey, Dunkaroos… I haven’t seen those in a while. Are they still being produced? I seem to remember some kind of contest to create the new Dunkaroos mascot. Does anyone else remember this, or am I thinking of something else?

Good God! My back-assward state doesn’t have any Polly-O string cheese! And as a person capable of eating enough of the precious cheese to constipate a horse, I find this to be an outrage!

My god, these things still suck kids into the madness that is preprocessed dairy products. My five year old will be quitely sitting in front of the rectangular babysitter complacently examining whatever goodness he can find in his various orfices (mostly on the head, thank god) when a stringy cheezy like product will appear. Without fail, he’ll earnestly pipe up with a "I realllly think we need to get some of that Dad" At this point, I normally sling him over my shoulder, carry his momento-like ass down to the kitchen, throw open the door to the fridge to reveal the 20 odd family packs of expired cheezy-stringy thingies waging a life or death struggle over the last kraft cheese slice.
"But I think I like them now!" he inevitably wails.

I got to tell you, every time I hear a radio commercial for the Canadian charity "Cash For Kids", I cant help wondering how much I could get for him…

Have never heard of this product or have any opinion. I have a HUGE virous on my computer. It’s basically a paper weight right now, so I’m in an internet cafe.
Just thought I’d let every one know how many new goodies are out for easter. I work at major grocery store and we have so much friggin chocolatey stuff.
Nestle cream eggs are the best.
