You are all doomed. Why not surrender? We might let you live.

02/04/2004: Build your fallout shelter.

Let’s try out another poll. Either we’re at war, toxic asteroids are falling, or some other great catastrophe is going on that causes you to head underground, alone, to a small fallout shelter you built for just such an occasion. It’s a special fallout shelter — no phones, but you took the time to add battery-operated TV/VCR combos so you can watch videos while the world explodes. What do you take down there — movies, books or whatever else, to keep yourself occupied for the many weeks or possibly even months? What kind of fallout shelter are you running?

I cannot forgive myself for forgetting the two MOST IMPORTANT items:

Print/Film versions of Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas

All five books in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy.

In pentitence, I hereby relinquish my kit bag of felonies and Babel fish. I do not deserve them any longer.

Squee is now sentenced to living three consecutive lifetimes locked in a closet with Marvin. Sentence suspended ’cause I forgot the five-volume trilogy myself.

I vote that we all meet up at a secret location and lock ourselves in a bomb shelter. It would be a kick ass party, agreed? Besides, with everybody bringing all of this shit I doubt I would ever need to leave anyway.

Actually, I just want somebody to tell their kids: "..And finally it got so out of hand that the 80s generation was locked beneath the earth."

Maybe we can find and stash Tiger Tails and Chocodiles as well?

Well I’d take a battery operated microwave and some bacon for food substance.

As for entertainment. I’d take my copy of Dumb and Dumber, Se7en, Fight Club, MeteorMan, Leonard Part 6, the Indy triology, Amelie, Spaceballs, and someothers.

As for reading I’d take every single one of my comic books to read again as well as my copies of Naked Lunch and Hilary Clintons biography(ha yeah right).

Besides that through in some paper and paints to write and draw and I’d be set for life.

…And thus, it was decreed, that many pop culture mavens were to be sealed away, and promptly forgotten. Until such a time as foretold by the donkey’s corpse by the wall at the end of the world, they shall be released and fed with the sacred supply of Hostess product. And hosed down, by the way, because by that time, the funk should be enough to cause amnesia or cause Liberace to rise from his grave, I mean…. ahem, heh, uummm, And upon emerging, bring about a New Age upon the ravaged Earth. Free from predjudice, ignorance, lawlessness, and Dave Coulier. Providing they don’t get beat down by worshippers of Homestar Runner, or Farkers, or those goth/furry people, in which case, I’m hiding out at Castle TimeLost, with my Wurlitzer jukebox and pong machine, obtained through looting, and making grilled cheese sandwiches until the shouting dies down. Hand me my running shoes, Rawhide is on in five minutes, and the snail is threatening to banjo!

Not that I’m sure any of you care all that much. But I’ve changed my mind. What can I say I was yound and stupid when I wrote that old list. Now I’m older and wiser.

Lets see…I’d still take the mircowave and bacon. I’d trade all the DVD’s for for every episode of The Simpsons.

And I’d take Scarlett Johansson. Jena Malone(Donnie Darko) for when I’m feeling a little bit spicier.

There we go. Much better. After all I’ll need someone to share all that bacon with.

Great Topic!

I would bring My complete set of Star Trek Movies, Star Trek: TNG episodes, Star Trek Episodes, my home-made phaser, and of course a razor so I could look like Riker after a few weeks.

Nah! Just kidding!

Hmmm… anything?

I would definitely have to say, after food and water, I would bring Brittany Murphy, an X-Box, and a whole batch of Birth Control Pills (we can’t have any little ones coming around).

I’d also bring my shotgun with a whole box of shells, and Charleton Heston’s arm… yes, I know he’s still alive, but hey–after the fall-out there’d be no one to investigate who the hell cut off Charleton Heston’s arm, if anyone even noticed at all.

Is that a little wierd? Oh, and also some Dr. Pepper.

Hah! I have been dubbed a having "the smartest idea!" I feel special now.

I would also like to include on my list copius shovels, so that me and my posse can burrow into the secret bunkers of other X-E’rs and we can party out that we have the world to ourselves. Well, ourselves until the dragons, unicorns, phoenixes and other mystical creates that have been in hiding since the onset of humanity come out in its downfall, and share their knowledge with us, the Chosen Ones.

Yeah, wouldn’t mind having Star Trek TNG seasons 2 – 7, but wouldn’t have much use for the 1st season since I find those hard to sit through. Star Trek movies 2,3,4, and 6 I would probably like to have with me. My Enterprise B toy, just because it was so darned hard to find and wouldn’t want anything to happen to it.

I would bring about 1000 of those glow in the dark fish, in case the batteries and electricity fail. At least I will be able to see. I can also use them for food. By the time I finish eating them all I will glow enough myself.

Ghosted by Stilewalker @ 02/06/2004 8:01 AM EST

kingklash, hee!

Stilewalker, don’t forget fish food, or you’ll be eating a bunch of dead fish in a few days. I bet they’ll really glow in a big, rotting hump.

Damn you Freezair, the tunneling idea was mine ! On a side note, those of you who know the Hitchhikers guide will also remember an "imminent world-wide catastrophe" that caused a world to send its population off in arks. It ended up as that worlds way of getting rid of the useless population. Maybe Matt is just tricking us into taking all of our 80s stuff underground so there will be very little of it. This way his collection will skyrocket in value. 6 weeks on Ebay and he’ll be a billionare.

I’d take my collection of Thomas Haden Church tapes and DVDs, lots and lots of paper, notebooks, pens and pencils so I could draw and write, the Harry Potter series (DVDs and books), my old UMAX c600 Macintosh 7.6.1 to tinker with, all of my Phil Collins, Genesis and Thomas Dolby CDs and, well, either Thomas Haden Church or Hal Sparks for my own amusement.
