New Article: The Mystery of Hostess Choco-Diles!

Hope you're hungry -- here's a tribute to Hostess Choco-Diles! The snack cakes have taken on a cult following over the years, mainly because they've become so hard to find. If you live in a city that sells Choco-Diles, don't take it for granted. You're part of an elite minority. Promoted with the help of "Chauncey Choco-Dile," the chocolate-covered Twinkies are a sadly obscured corner of junk food history. Review includes everything from a trip to the Hostess Bakery to old commercials starring "Captain Cupcake."

I remember finding a site called freshchocodiles.com that sold them so i ordered a couple of boxes & got them a few weeks before the expiration date & that first one i bit into brought me back to my childhood
other than that i haven’t seen a chocodile in my state of ma. since i was about 11 & i am 30 now.
I DO BELIVE THE CHOCODILE IS THE BEST CAKE HOSTES EVER MADE.

i dont understand why chocodiles are a problem to stock. how can they be any more “fragil” than a chocolate ding dong or hostess cupcake. they are bigger than a twinkie so make them smaller! same twinkies just take half and dip in chocolate…they are awesome! we order from time to time at cost of 30.00! come on hostess-we want chocodiles back on general market..

I’ve bought from fresh chocodiles a couple of times. The second time I didn’t get my order for well over a month. Customer service is a joke. Found another website chocodilesnow.com and they got to me in 2 days. Still expensive though..

I always wanted to know what the hell a Choco-dile was. I keep hearing it on TV and such and I could never figure it out and thanks to you my research is complete. I would definitely help you eat those, lol.

While Hostess still does not have a mail order system in place yet, being only a year out of bankruptcy, there are Hostess customers (retail) who operate mail order businesses selling our product. The one I have heard the most about is http://www.freshchocodiles.com. They are a vendor out of Southern California, and will ship fresh Hostess product anywhere in the world.

Turns out I’m a lucky one, they sell chocodiles at Maverick gas stations in Utah… I knew I moved back to Utah for a reason.

Chocidiles for sale one at a time all over California save-mart and even the gas stations have them however you can’t buy a box only one at a time

I called hostess and asked about chocodiles. If you aren’t lucky enough to live in california, they recommended http://www.chocodilesnow.com.

I kinda forgot that chocodiles was my only favorite snack when I was little. As I got older and crave chocolate I went to the store searching for my favorite twinky and bought different ones, bit into it and it wasnt satisfying… Damn I realizes later that I couldnt find my favorite cake. I actually was at work trying to find it and I did, so happy! So will find a way to get my chocolate back! Thanx for all the info!

They are not only the best cake Hostess ever made, they are the best food the Good Lord ever put on Earth. The only thing better??? Eating them with a bad case of the munchies. And a quart of chocolate milk. Nirvana
