11/19/2003: New Article: Petster, the Robot Cat!

If you’re waiting for the next parade review, don’t worry, it’s a’comin soon. Had some video/audio synch problems, but we’re on the road to recovery. Hopefully will have two more full reviews by Thanksgiving. Meanwhile, there’s a new article up, about Petster, the robot cat. One of the forgotten gems from the era of Teddy Ruxpin-inspired electronic interactive toys, Petster was sort of like a giant Furby with wheels. Review includes a commercial download and a special lovey-love happy photo album.

Man, your Pester review had coffee coming out my nose (I’m sure you know which bit). Gold, pure gold.
Also, I think there was actually a Pester Cat that wasn’t the Deluxe model and pictures show it with blue not green eyes but for the life of me I can’t find out what the difference between the two were (bar the eyes).

Any one else?

My sister was the lucky recipient of a Petster when she was 10 Years old. Since, she has gone to college, gotten married and lives in her own house. She still owns this toy. It is not some forgotten item from the past relegated to the basement, the attic or garage but a prized possession. Your description of this toys capabilities are exactly what still keeps us mesmerized about it today. I will not be surprised if I find it out next time I go to visit her at her house.

p.s. (You really took some care in writing this posting. You got everything right about the description of this animal. Even about the speaking French.)

My grandmother bought a petster in the 1980’s and she has since past by now my mother has it, its still in the box and in great condition. I love those cats, they are no fuss and no mess. Great for kids, they should still make them!
