New Article: ABC’s Saturday Morning Preview Special, 1983!

It's got nothing to do with Halloween, but who knows, maybe you're up for a change of pace. Here's a review of ABC's Saturday Morning Preview Special, a thirty-minute program hosted by Dick Clark that talks up 1983's hottest premiering toons -- everything from "Rubik, The Amazing Cube" to "The Monchichis" and beyond. Suffice to say, you don't see shit like this anymore. Oh, did I mention the bit where Emmanuel Lewis talks about dogs while waving half a pool cube around? Yeah, it's in there baby. It’s not; it’s syndicated by DIC Entertainment under the title "The Wonderful World of DIC."

I think DIC should’ve shown a better cartoon like "Inspector Gadget" instead.
"The Littles" are corny and sappy.
Heck, even the kid characters on "Arthur", a PBS cartoon, bicker. Like Arthur, the title charcter, and D.W. (It’s the only cartoon ON PBS I like with my nephews)

Guess some of the execs from DIC Entertaiment were fans of "The Littles" back in the day.

I hate all those cartoons I hated them so much I just watch CBS’s cartoons and I think i know the guy with the glasses on in that row of pictures of people that were interviewed by that no face reporter

AS I recall, the first special was with the Brady Kids in 1972. It was created because there was too much material for the prime time special.

The McNuggets (according to memory) were introduced the year before the ad, though again I’m going by memory.

To the best of my knowledge, there were no other retrospective specials made. (Definately none made during the 90′s.)

ABC, the most consistant producer of the special, stopped producing them about the third or forth year of 1 Saturday Morning (which has now quietly become ABC Kids) because they only had one new show. However, FOX had one for this season, so they haven’t completely disappeared.
