Here is what I wrote here before about Gremlins 2: http://x-entertainment.com/updates/entries/archives/00000227.html
"I still get in arguments, well once in a while, over why Gremlins 2 is the greatest sequel ever. Supposedly, Escape from L.A. was going for the same awareness vibe of a sequel knowing the deal with sequels, but Escape failed in that case.

'Handsome' John Pruitt is right with saying get the DVDs. I laugh thinking about Joe Dante showing Dick Morris in the gag reel how the bat gremlin will react to the actor by flapping a cardboard cutout at the end of a piece of wood."

While searching the X-E archives I also found this interesting fact from Richard: http://x-entertainment.com/updates/entries/archives/00000192.html

Ted Turner's End of the World tape as parodied in Gremlins 2: http://forums.alternet.org/guest/motet?show+-ugfgjM+-chjz+MediaCulture+43+20
What would your tape annoucing the end of the world consist of?
This is what Ted Turner has planned, according to Mitchell Fink of NYDaily News:

"...Turner, it seems, has been a doom-and-gloom kind of guy from the very day in June 1980 when he launched the cable network. He said then, as only he could, "We gonna go on air June 1, and we gonna stay on until the end of the world. When that time comes, we'll cover it,play 'Nearer, My God, to Thee,' and sign off.

"Ten years later, I'm told, Turner used CNN production facilities to create what he called his "end-of-the-world" video. Sources tell me it consists of a recording of "Nearer, My God," over footage of a waving American flag. Turner is said to have ordered the tape locked away until it was determined that the world was about to end.

"It was like a sign-off tape that you often see in the middle of the night," says one source. "But to Ted, it was a sign-off forever." Posted by Richard @ 07/06/2003 11:12 AM EST

Matt if your reasons for excluding LOTR: The Two Towers included anything about Ents and Faramir, I'm right with you. There were points in that movie where I just plain felt betrayedby Peter Jackson after the masterful job he did w/Fellowship and how loyal he kept to the book.

On another note: TMNT II? You couldn't find one better sequel you've watched ever? I was a TMNT fan as a kid, but never liked the movies all that much (1st one was pretty good), but c'mon. I'd rather watch an Indiana Jones movie any day.

Well, I'm huge on those Turtles, so it was pretty much a given no matter how much it sucked. I wouldn't say it was better than the first, but I had loads of fun with it when it came out.

On still another note, checked out the Countdown, and that second picture Matt almost smiles! Well, at least he almost completely stops frowning, and that's almost completely close enough in my book.

Smiling is overrated. If someone is constantly smiling I'm inclined to believe they're not all there. Anyway, another great list by Matt
