08/13/2003: Spongebob Squarepants’ Pineapple Bubble Yum!

Straight from the bowels of the too strange to resist, Bubble Yum recently came out with an officially branded “Spongebob Squarepants” bubble gum — and it tastes like pineapples! If you’re one of the sixteen people who’d ever choose “pineapple” over any other available flavor, your prayers have been answered. The big party bag comes in a high class happy yellow, complete with appearances from Spongebob and that strange, punk rock duck Bubble Yum started employing to seem more hip. I had some misgivings about pineapple-flavored bubble gum, but it’s actually tasty. Sorta like that old “Paradise Punch” flavor, only with a little less punch and paradise. Obviously, the gum can only last as long as Spongebob’s popularity, so don’t rest on your laurels. You want “Spongebob Squarepants Pineapple Bubble Yum Bubble Gum?” Get a move on.

Plus, if you don’t want to eat it, the unwrapped gum pieces work great as dollhouse “phone book” accessories.

I have a problem here, and maybe some of you can relate:

Ever since I passed the age of about 8 I can never find stuff like this anymore now that I can actually afford it.

I mean our SaveMart still carries Big League Chew and all, but I can never find Mamba’s anymore, or the WWF ice cream.

Maybe it’s like a portal that just closes once you turn a certain age and it never closed for some people….or maybe I just only go to the store for soda anymore.

Oh, and WT, our Savemart also still carries Fanta.

I can’t tell if they still make all this stuff, or if they just haven’t sold anything since 1989.

Wow, I can’t believe all the people dissing Spongebob when it is so obvious that Matt is a fan. Evidence "Spongebob vs. Hulk" and the Spongebob hermit crab shells in the hermit carb article, now this. I also have all the Spongebob DVDs. And as a side note I love Invader Zim as well.

Matt: since you had the article about quarter machine toys I thought you might interested to see these Spongebob figurines, that I have complete set of. I didn’t really want all the figures but I just had to get A "Patrick Star".

I think it may be pineapple flavour coz he lives in a pineapple under the sea.

(who needs drugs when you have toons like these)

I can only dream of watching Spongebob. Unfortunately we don’t have the Cartoon Network (yeah, I’m all primitive and shit) so all I can do is hate on pineapple flavour.

So if Spongebob lives in water has he ever been pulled out of water to dry up and get all hard and crusty?

Uh…Correct me if I am wrong, but Spongebob is on Nickelodean, not Cartoon Network, right?

Ghosted by Cameron @ 08/15/2003 11:39 AM EDT

And today, on a "Very Special" episode of Spongebob Squarepants. Spongebob ges taken out of the water and left to dry. See how drugs, alcohol, rape, racism, abortion ad many other things we try to teach you with bad music at key points in the show, made this happen.

Anyway, I just got power this morning about 4 AM or so. I wonder if Matt got power yet. I think he lives in Staten Island or something….

spongebob is nothing more than a cheap clone of rocko’s modern life or cow and chicken

Ghosted by mypurposevague @ 08/15/2003 1:25 PM EDT

Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network — I live in Canada and don’t get either. Not even Teletoon so I can get my crack-headed Ukrainian avant garde ‘toon fix.

spongebob is less offensive than some of the more child oriented television, but after all, it is nick. For that matter how was cow and chicken ever on? It was so obsessed with nipples, ass, and ballsacks that I couldn’t watch. My tender sensibilities, after all.

Bubble Yum has spider eggs in it. You have been warned.

Remember that commercial where the kid can’t see over the counter and can only say "yum"?

Some of the actors that did the voices for Rockos Modern Life(Tom Kenny,Doug Lawrence,Carlos Alazraqui) are also doing the voices for Spongebob. And the creator of Spongebob worked on Rocko’s Modern Life as well.Your going to see similarities Mypurpose.

Don’t know much about sponge bob. All I know is that we sell sponge bob kleenex at the grocery store that I work at. They sell for about $3.50 a pack. Seems kinda pricy to empty your snot. Matt, if you ever want info on discontinued grocery store items, I suggest you ask veteran grocery store guys. We
can ask the reps from companies about products. Anyone ever try ketchup doritos? Sounds good, but try eating one… it’s like doing oral sex to an oily, fishy, bargan
brand ketchupy (not catsupy) 2$ ho. If there are any 2$ prostitutes out there, I appologize, only an example, no offense meant to your proffesion.
Grape bubble yum was king in my day.

at my store too the spongebob kleenex is flying off the shelves, mainly for back to school.

I loved the grape gum, but the flavor always got chewed out the quickest, so I stuck with the original flavor

Cool, the perfect gift for sponge-bob chewing fetichists

I could say that I only watch SpongeBob because i have a 2 year old daughter, however, I know that I would watch it every damn day even if I didn’t. I think the thing that makes a cartoon great is the fact that even though it was intended for children, adults get it on a whole different level. Take a look at all of those Looney Tunes cartoons we loved as kids(I’m talking about the ones made in the 40’s and 50’s) I loved them as a kid, but watching them as an adult, they’re just as funny, but for different reasons. Also, I used to love Ren & Stimpy when I was 16, but watching them again 8 years later, I just don’t think they’re funny anymore, maybe I just grew out of it. Oh well.

I really don’t mind spongebob. I admit that the one episode I watched (I was at a hotel, bored, waiting for something that I forget) was fairly entertaining. I couldn’t change the channel actually. And I absolutely hate Cow and Chicken. They rely so much on the fact that their characters have asses that they forget to make it actually funny. Throw in the damn annoying voices and it’s unbearable. That’s why I have no idea what to watch at 3:30am when my insomnia is in full force. At 4 is Time Squad, then Captain Planet at 4:30. I’ve ranted many times on some of the crap I’ve seen in a Captain Planet episode. I swear to God one of the little side-stories with morals at the end of one episode was basically to tell kids "use condoms so you don’t overpopulate the earth." Bah, that show is evil, yet I feel the need to watch it. Anyway, Matt, you gotta do something on Captain Planet. I’ve written many an essay on it. Yes, I know that’s sad.

Guess I’m missing alot with sponge-
bob. Is it anything like duckman?

Ghosted by turkey's can't fly? @ 08/17/2003 4:13 PM EDT

I personally think SS is one of the most well written shows currently on TV. You know how everyone is nuts for CN’s Adult Swim shows right now? IMO, SS is funnier than most of that despite not having the advantage of a more loosely knit set of "rules."

Helps to watch it zooted, too.

Ghosted by Matt @ 08/17/2003 4:18 PM EDT

If I knew what zooted meant I’d watch it zooted. If it’s anything like "SPARKIN’ UP A FAT J HOMEBOY"! I’ll try it.
P.s. I AM A NERD. not the smart kind.

I like Futurama, Family Guy, and The Oblongs on Adult Swim. The anime is alright, but if there’s something else on I’ll watch it. I think I’m one of a small number of people that prefer Futurama over The Simpsons
