X-Entertainment is still feeling pretty bad about those lobsters.

07/08/2003: yooo.

Hey, what’s icy and lemony with a dinosaur trapped in the middle? You’ll find out tomorrow — meantime, check out my latest on UGO, the Top 11 Monopoly Properties. I’ve got some terrific stuff to add to the Commercials section, though a lot of it is actually too good to just dump in a download archive. I’m thinking about revamping that page and adding a short review with a new download each day — but before I go through the trouble, I’d like to know that people would actually make a point to drop by there without my having to plaster links all over the place telling them to do so. What do you think? Do the ends justify the effort? Does a cheese cracker that boasts about having “90% real cheese” accidentally reveal that 30% of it is, in fact, something other than cheese? I miss Barry White already. Watching The Golden Girls is gonna suck now.

FIRST POST!!! YAY!!!

Just saw the Monopoly Top 11. Great list. Can’t go wrong with Boardwalk.

Matt,

I think one permanent link on the homepage would suffice, just like the christmas countdown had. At least I THINK a lot of people clicked on that daily. I know I did. Were you saving the last 3 days for this christmas?

Well, I don’t really go there because much of that stuff is US-only… But if there’ll be new stuff to read and see, I’m THERE!

Off-topic… I was watching an old Tom & Jerry toon, the one where the mouse ties a thread to the tail of the dog and runs through the house around lamps and pianos, up and down tables and all that crap. Then, when the thread is pulled, the dog goes through that EXACT path without knocking down anything! Do you guys remember being disappointed by not acquiring that effect when you tried it? I used to try it a lot with my GI Joes… Not only the Joe would get stuck on the first obstacle, the thread never really slid around stuff as easily as Jerry made it seem… Oh well, another lesson that TV has tought us…

Thanks for listening! :D

no you gotta post a link or tell me that you’ve updated it. because we all know it won’t last, you’ll get bored or do something else then I end up visiting the page everyday hoping that you posted something when you didn’t.

I guess I could add it to the list of links I visit everyday hoping that they get updated, but that would make 3 places just for your one site: the main page, the blog and then this.

You could just make the commercial like a regular article and link to the download or archive. As if my opinion mattered.

I’m all for the idea of adding a new commercial with a short review daily! It would be cool if you could put a link on the homepage showing what the most current addition to the download page is, but link or no link i’d be there every day.

I would definitely go see a daily short review of a commercial that reminds me of my youthful, carefree days. Not like my current, old, angry days.

I hate Monopoly. Even the Star Wars one. Except for the little pieces. They should just sell those separately (god knows they are always getting lost anyway)

If it was a daily (or semi-daily) kind of thing, I would think one permanent link would suffice. Even just a text link saying the newest commercial reviewed would work.
In keeping with my policy of only complaining about glitchy ads that interfere with my ability to use the site: that Nike ad sucks. I want a giant roller skate. Goggles Pizano is the coolest handle ever.

I have never in my life finished a game of Monopoly. It takes too damn long. On a side note, I finally saw Terminator 3 today. It doesn’t pack the same charm as Judgement Day, but $6 to see uber-hottie Kristiana Lokken act all hot and evil (and nude for awhile) count me in! A good movie all around. Anyone agree with me? And I have to agree with Goggles Pizano being the coolest name ever. Plus, might I bring up Photog?

I think I have decided that the fantastically handsome & witty Matt needs to do a review of Xanadu. That is all.

Ghosted by Scarlett @ 07/08/2003 8:40 PM EDT

That’s a great idea Matt, but do you have the time? Sometimes you complain about not having enough time to write articles.

Ghosted by pikachulover @ 07/08/2003 10:13 PM EDT

Ooh, I almost forgot my Photog Vs. Who question. I don’t even know why I type these anymore. Noone ever answers. I guess it’s just so people can come up with the mental pictures. Alright, here we go. Photog Vs. Uncle Moneybags. There we go! Also, does anyone else laugh at the idea of Matt wearing asome form of sunglasses monocle and carrying around a big bag with a dollar sign on it? Cracked me up. Uncle MoneyMatt. Cool.

Goggles loves you all.

Ghosted by Goggles Pizano @ 07/08/2003 10:37 PM EDT

And we all love Goggles Pizano. And other useless crap. Not saying that you are useless or crap, but we love that as well. Who do I love? Matt and all his funniness. Not in the He-Man/ Beast Man, Soundwave/ Megatron kind of way. In the non-gay kind of way. I’m sorry.

I would certainly check out the downloads section.

Special review request:

Read All About It. I just recently discovered the name of this show that I used to watch when I was younger. I never got to see the end of it, which made me very angry at the time. Giant, evil floating heads taking over towns through complex conspiracies while teaching kids new vocabulary words (like "conspiracy").

What could be better. Anyone know of any place where copies are attainable?

Ghosted by Ubu Rex @ 07/08/2003 11:09 PM EDT

Holy crap, Ubu Rex! I used to love that show as a kid, but had all but forgotten it. I remember being in the third grade and our teacher letting us watch the show everyday. I believe there were two seasons, but I don’t think I ever saw the end of Season 2.

One thing that always bugged me, they had a device called Two-Way, which could let them communicate with their homebase even when they were back in time, but they called it TW for short, even though TW takes longer to say than Two-Way. When I was 7 that drove me nuts.

Ghosted by Hellpop! @ 07/09/2003 12:03 PM EDT

I’d rather you change the format of those downloads. As it is, my fuggin’ computer freezes up every damn time I try to check one out! You know how annoying it was to not be able to relieve the glorious "He touched my breast!" clip from The Wizard???

So a change to Quicktime or MS Player would be apriciated. And a review of Mac and Me. Pleeeeeeeease?

Ghosted by A-wel Cruiz @ 07/09/2003 12:05 PM EDT

Please Matt, under no circumstances change to Quicktime. They are fine as they are, but if you must change, please don’t let it be to that.

Ghosted by Ubu Rex @ 07/09/2003 12:59 PM EDT

A little review under each commercial would be great. I don’t usually download them because I’m scared to, and a review would likely give me the courage to look at all the great comercials.

Oh yeah, and the Monopoly thing rocked.

Warning for those at work, the site this is from is mainly porn, but they do have funny videos as well.

Ghosted by ME @ 07/09/2003 5:06 AM EDT

Ubu — yeah, Quicktime wouldn’t really work for me either. WMV is good because otherwise, the files would be much larger than the 1 MB or so they are now. (in unconverted dubbed avi, they’re all 150-300 MB!)

I’d like to add mini-reviews to all the commercials already in the archive, but that’d take a long time to finish. I’ll start proactively. :D

Ghosted by Matt @ 07/09/2003 7:50 AM EDT

Personally, I would need a link to "remind" me that new stuff is in the Downloads section … That is all.

Ghosted by Al Boondy @ 07/09/2003 1:10 PM EDT

I check the commercials all the time, still hoping for that certain special one (you know the one) So if you start adding them on an almost daily basis then it would add some much needed meaning to my life. I’m looking forward to it.
