No new article today, had to finish the print columns and then became really engulfed in ripping cuticles off of my fingers. You know how it is. Quick update though -- just got a bonanza of new material to cover, and it's real good stuff. Well, it's 'good stuff' if you like what I like, and I assume you wouldn't be reading this unless that was the case. Lots of new commercials a' comin, but several of them were conductive to full reviews -- the first one'll be up tomorrow. I've got even more on the way, so by the end of the month, I think I'll own pretty much every commercial spot that's ever aired on television. Except the PSA where Mr. Wing and Gizmo talk about drunk driving. I really want that one.. :(

Why on earth hasn’t someone invented cuticle flavored chewing gum? The blighted fingertips of the nervously inclined are in need of help.

Matt, much like you, I have a nasty habit of chewing on my fingers. I have to agree with squee, I would chew on finger flavored gum. I even do it in my sleep. It’s very creepy. I am also very flexible, so when I run out of fingers, I switch to my toes. It’s kind of creepy. Can anyone else chew on their toes? I’m looking in your direction, Molten. Don’t read too far into that, because I have a lazy eye. (Haha)

What?!? Finger flavored gum? Lazy eyes? Now I dont think this is appropriate discussion for the X-E blog. So heres a few starters. Michael Keaton, Crispen Glover, Crystal Pepsi, Tato Skins, Dom Deluise, Bronson Pinchot, and Sandy Duncan.

Just Kidding :)

I never understood why people chew on their fingernails, I just fiddle and tear at them with my other hand’s nails until they come off. Well, the bit that sticks out beyond the top of your finger anyway. It’d be kinda painful if I removed my nails altogether.

Good work, khjgdkfbakdjb. You uncovered a large connection. Bronson Pichot, short, Dom Deluise, short, Michael Keaton, short. Odd. Crispen Glover and Crystal Pepsi both begin with Cr. And I bet Sandy Duncan eats Tato Skins. My God, it’s all one giant CIA conspiracy against XE. Fight the Future! Or go back to it. Wait a msec…Crispen Glover was in Back to the Future! It’s all coming together.

A little off topic here. I never got to play Zelda Ocarina of time until recently. There is a puzzle requiring the round-up of some chickens. I couldn’t find em all and did a yahoo search. The #1 result was Matt’s review of the game!

I wonder if Fat Daddy chews his fingers?

Sorry, just had to work Fat Daddy into the discussion somehow.

Chestnuts roasted by shinfifo @ 06/26/2003 8:34 PM

Speaking of FAT DADDY, I dropped him into discussion among friends the other day. They did not believe that there would be someone who would willingfully call themselves FAT DADDY.

Am I the only one who pronounces it with an artificial southern accent when they say FAT DADDY?

that earlier post wasn’t by me

I wonder if kwijibo’s comment was a knock on the finger flavored gum comments of this entry, or the throw away pop culture icon speak of most of the other entries. Cause I remember almost everything that kiltionionionare mentioned (with the possible exception of Sandy Duncan, but she was bomb in Roots anyway)has been covered here at one time or another. So basically with one post kajillivere insulted everybody here. Well done!

2 things:

Caffeine. Flavored. Gum.

&

What the hell is Banzai selling? I’d ping their site if they had a link. The add is so ungodly scary I’d willingly brave 20 pop-ups just to solve the brain-pain.

Unlike the Hulk the sound is AMAZING in the same way SLUGS is an amazing film. The whole stupid America classic rock music that starts sucking the moment it appears.

god bless my cable modem.

Chestnuts roasted by OhgodtheRats @ 06/26/2003 11:25 PM

Matt seriously, why do you have to have the scariest ads ever on this site? First it was that Hulk ad that I nearly shit myself on, now it’s the friggin’ Banzai ad. It scared the hell outta me last night when I came here high as hell looking for humor and instead got yelled at by Japanese guys and assaulted by crazy colors.

Did anyone else sit and watch the "28 Days Later" countdown at the top of the site? I got here and there was 3 minutes left, so I waited. 3 long, horrible minutes. When it hit zero, it paused, and then said "in theaters now!" or something. That’s it. What a letdown from a movie I know nothing about.

Since you guys brought up Bronson Pinchot, I must say Perfect Strangers ruled. And as much as I love Balki, I’ve always been a bigger Larry fan, maybe because I usually like the lesser known characters on shows and movies more. Plus, he got the hotter wife. Forgive me for my bored rant, I’m sorry :(

Chestnuts roasted by Rob @ 06/27/2003 1:26 AM

Yeah Cousin Larry was the only reason I liked that show. Balki was annoying. I never really understood why Mr. Appleton got prime tail though. At least Balki had that whole exotic-foreign thing going. Larry was a small guy with a crappy 5 & 10 store job, and OCD. He was what kept that show funny for a while.

this doesn’t have anything to do with well anything but I was wondering why you haven’t done an archive about the old McDonalds Transformers figures you know the ones shaped like McDonalds food but had morphing capabilities

That Banzai ad freaked the hell outta me at work lol
It’s scary that Smokes brought up McDonald’s toys and Matt already did them lol :)

1. Banzai is some show imported from Japan where people do wacky stunts and pranks on people. Standard fare, but the twist is that there is a pause before you see the outcome, so you can place bets with your friends.
2. I watched the first half of 28 days yesterday. Pretty scary shit, but I can’t recommend it completely until I’ve seen the ending.
3. I have no idea what is going on with khjgdkjfbakdjb and CalmingEffect is Devin Butler, but I like that kwijibo was worked into it.
4. What does caffeine taste like?

Anyone ever play the Gargoyles VCR game before? It was neat. You didn’t even get player pieces. Just bits of cardboard. …

Chestnuts roasted by Otaku Queen @ 06/27/2003 1:17 PM

The most disappointing board games are the ones that seem ripe for little plastic models, like, say, GARGOYLES!, and instead stick you with card board. Yet those games are not any cheaper. They should take a page from the PacMan game. That’s what the Jurassic Park board games did. The Lost World one had cardboard pieces, and I never saw it (thank god). The JP3 game had plastic dinos! And I bought it. At a discount store. Because the game is REALLY STUPID.

Chestnuts roasted by Sean @ 06/27/2003 2:42 PM

Banzai movie theater used to be on USA. They have odd challenges and you get to bet on the outcome on-line. If you guess correctly, you have bragging rights, and sometimes might win something. It’s pretty damn funny, but not nearly as funny as Most Extreme Elimination Challenge on TNN. That show is the bomb. Just like Affleck in Phantoms.

Chestnuts roasted by Bansheex @ 06/27/2003 2:45 PM

Matt, why are you so cool?

Chestnuts roasted by Brodie @ 06/27/2003 3:14 PM

Matt needs to get his hands on a copy of the Commercial Crazies VCR game. It hass a bunch of Sedelmaier ads (Where’s the Beef, FedEx, etc.) from the 80s. It rules.

Maybe it’s really common to find it. I don’t know.

It’s still good.
