05/15/2003: Thursday is not productive.

No new article today – gotta take care of non-site stuff, plus run to the Motor Vehicles to pay off a speeding ticket before they suspend my license. Again. On Friday I’ll be putting up a tribute to one of the only toylines from my youth I haven’t yet paid tribute to, complete with in-hand, firsthand pics and background colors solely meant to blind you.

Also: The Hulk piñata has collected even more items based on his new flick, and he’s considering making a return next week. I think it could be a bad idea. I guess the deciding factor will be how strong of a desire I have over the weekend to take pictures of a piñata giving self-serving testimonials. As for tomorrow, I’ll try to squeeze in some bloggie posts, but you know my schedule. There’s only so much time to get things done before the first and second hours of Golden Girls reruns.

Supposed to tag along to see the Matrix sequel either tomorrow or this weekend, but to be honest, I’m not all that interested. I’m sure it’ll blow me away, but I never really got too into all the Matrix stuff. I think it’s because I can’t see Keanu as anything but the guy who taught Dianne Wiest’s kid that it was okay to jerk off in Parenthood.

Oh, I hate to bring him up again, but somebody sent me an interesting e-mail about Nukie. I know, it sounds impossible. Check this link out. While the flick can be scavenged off eBay for a buck, Amazon’s selling it for 92.95. Told you it was rare. And stupid.

Dude, tell me the new article is about The Visionaries! I had a MAD crush on the Dolphin chick! Not on a Baroness level, but she had myyyystical powers….!

speaking of disturbing movies, never, and I mean never watch a porn called "Chunky’s Angels". It isn’t ment to be a horror or a comedy, but some how it pulls of both in a very disturbing way.

hey, matt – i work @ video stores! the reason that nukie is priced 92.95 is because it is rental priced. meaning that, so video stores can have exclusitivity it is very expensive. you cant buy it in regular stores, you can only rent it. usually this window only lasts about 4-12 months. In some cases though the studios never bother to manufacture more for the public. this is usually reserved for movies that suck royally.

Ghosted by CalmingEffect @ 05/15/2003 3:01 AM EDT

CalmingE – I remember a similar situation back when I was a kid. We had rented ‘Adventures in Babysitting,’ and lost it somehow. The place demanded something like 80 bucks for it. Nukie. :(

No article? Well, keeping your license is probably in the best interests of future articles. Now it’s just me and my imagination. *sigh* Okay, do your stuff imagination.

Sophia quote: There’s just something I don’t like about him. I can’t put my finger on it, but if I did, I’d have to wash it.

Yeah. I knew tv’d killed my imagination.

Well, I know at one point Matt talked about the cartoon The Visionaries, but I have yet to find a Visionaries toyline article, so that’s still possible, Andrew.

Damn, that’s one expensive Nukie!

*Ghasp* Oh wow, Matt, you are amazing. I am amazed to find somone else who isn’t OBSESSED with -The Matrix-. I work at a video store, so hearing those damnable words "The Matrix" is like that annoying question… "Do you have Scarface??" No. No.. NO GOSHDAMMIT NOBODY HAS SCARFACE!!! But The Matrix is over there. Next to X-Men 1.5. Shoot me. Yay Matt!!

Hulk pinata want to do more article! Hulk pinata need people to make Matt do article. Matt funny man. No funny make Hulk pinata angry.

I worked at video stores for a while as well. My favorite memory of priced-to-rent was an old lady buying her husband the complete Death Wish series (how romantic!) and throwing a fit after she found out DW5 would cost her $72! We explained the situation to her over and over again, but she still just stood there and INSISTED we sell her a rental copy (yes, we had two copies) at 75% loss. The entire situation had me convinced that none of us were going to get into heaven.

Hey Calming Effect! Where are my amazing cat pictures already?

More like a snack,
Toadfrog

Adventures in Babysitting kicks ass! I’d rather watch that again for the 500th time than see that overhyped Matrix crap…

If i’m not mistaken, this is the first time Adventures in Babysitting has been mentioned on X-E? Also, surprisingly, Matt hasn’t said very much at all about The Goonies. Are you a fan of these movies, Matt?

the Star Wars kid has to be one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen!

Ghosted by J-Dog @ 05/15/2003 2:56 PM EDT

hate to dissapoint you Matt, but I went to an early showing last night, and I must say that it was horrible. Almost painful to watch. I got up to pee, came back, and the same boring dance scene(you’ll see what I’m talking about) was on. Drug on forever…. CGI looked cheesy…. I don’t reccommend.

You all can bash me now, but you will believe after you see.

Ghosted by chad @ 05/15/2003 3:17 PM EDT

Yep bash me too. Went to the midnight showing here in Australia (aka America’s Wonderland) and as much as I wanted to love it I have to say it truly sucked.

However I will go back to a showing while incredibly stoned as I think that’s the way the movie is intended to be seen "Ahhh! Now it all fits!"

For all those who don’t wish to partake, I’d wait for the video release.

I might see The Matrix in like a month or something, after all the sweaty little fanboys get tired of it and I don’t have to stand in line with them. I’m pretty ambivalent about the whole thing, to be honest. I mean, it was cool and everything, but it wasn’t like COOL, ya know?

Ghosted by Travis @ 05/15/2003 3:56 PM EDT

I realize now that I should NOT be surprised that so many people who share the same interests and obsessions as I do are not interested in the Matrix. I think I would have loved it, but I also cannot accept Keanu Reeves as a Jesus character. I bet if they had gotten Ed Norton it would have been great.
There is a website that lists all of Keanu’s dialouge from the first flick, in order but out of context. NOTHING is more than 7 words long. Silly me, I thought being an actor entailed memorizing lines, not stuttering out three word fragments. I’ll post the link as soon as I find it.

Ghosted by I'll have to see it anyway, but not by choice @ 05/15/2003 3:56 PM EDT

Well well well. It seems we have had the #1 spot for giant ape juice taken away again. Don’t worry Matt. I’m on it. Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice, Giant ape juice. Hope that does the trick.

Ghosted by Gozer @ 05/15/2003 3:57 PM EDT

maybe a 3 article mini-series extravaganza about giant ape juice would clear up this problem for good. ;)

Ghosted by kennef @ 05/15/2003 4:14 PM EDT

If you think seeing Keanu as Jesus is rough, try Buddha. God, what a stretch. "Whoah, I’m enlightened."

More Hulk stuff. I went to the store today, and i was walking by the registers, and they had loads of Hulk Cotton Candy piled up for all the impulse buyers. It was only like a dollar a bag. Can’t pass up neon green cotton candy.

I will agree. Matrix Reloaded SUCT ass big time. The dialogue was VERY cheesy and horrible, the fight scenes are all cg, cept for like one or two, and it really takes away from the personality of the first. It don’t look right, nor smell right.

And if I ever hear Morpheus answer normal questions in proverbs again, I will…sodfunsodjioph p9w 8ur9-wu8 dsdfka.

AAARGH I AM ANGERED THEY SCREWED UP WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A MASTERPEICE SERIES. Oh, and the dance scene that is spoken of in a previous comment is GHEY as hell.

i’m out.

I wanted to get The Matrix (first movie) on DVD for my uncle, but he said he didn’t like it. They also showed The Matrix (first movie) on FOX, but I forgot it was on because I was busy dubbing Yu-Gi-Oh tapes for my nephew (WHEN CAN I STOP PLEASE?) I probably wouldn’t understand it anyway.

Have I mentioned that the blog comments are a great way to interact with readers of X-E? No forums to maintain, no messy forum registration to log into, and especially no fear of those five dreaded words, "or you will be banned". :)

Do you have Scarface ?

Ghosted by N21 @ 05/16/2003 6:29 AM EDT

I didn’t hate Matrix Reloaded, but I didn’t really like it either. I found it to be mindlessly entertaining. The philosophic dialogue was trying WAY too hard and I felt like i was watching a video game for most of it. I did like the twins and some of the fight scenes…
oh, I loved Parenthood! and the little kid Keanu taught to jerk off was none other than the beautiful Mr. Joaquin Phoenix! (he was leif then I think). He happens to be in Baltimore now filming some fireman movie. Almost everyone here has seen him except me. grrrr.
Nukie is pukie.

Hulk is returning? Sweet! Hey, why not work Dr. Banner into somehow? I mean, as that "Madd Matt" article shows, you have really got a knack for getting into (or out of, I’m not sure…) character for these little skits. You could contrast items that make Hulk happy, (ie endorsements) with items that Banner would like, Calgon, Care Bears, and Yanni CD’s. LoL! It would be neat to see you set up a transformation scene into the "Monstaaa" that is Hulk! Oh yeah purple pants, purple pants, purple pants… LoL!

duh on the same amazon page it says

19 used & new from $2.50

I was thinking it was the opposite of when people jack up the price cause it was on X-E. Like the Cartoon All Stars video.

Last weekend for me meant while every comic book store and place where people play D&D became abandoned and spooky as every fanboy on earth went to see "Matrix", I was all geeked ‘cuz the new Christopher Guest movie "A Mighty Wind" (if titled by me: "Pure Concentrated Funny") finally opened wide, instead of just at the snotty art theatre.

I’m sure I’ll have a wonderful time watching "Matrix 2" on the big screen, but I got to laugh at the antics of C. Guest, Eugene Levy, and all the other nutty nuts in that movie, and the line was a lot shorter, ta boot!

Matrix Reloaded? Eh. That damn dance scene was mofo gay. I men, like Jar Jar Binks gay. Good fight scenes. Being the middle film, it’s not ment to be smart. Sit down, open eyes, turn off higher thinking, enjoy eye candy. That’s all it is. Eye pleasing.
