04/01/2003: Alf Cakes!!!!

In the true spirit of April Fool’s Day, the latest article in a step-by-step vicarious adventure as we try to bake a cake shaped like famous sitcom alien, ALF.  Click here to read all about it.  Now that I’ve read it again, I assume I must’ve taken drugs before writing it.  I like to consider that a bonus.  On deck is a review of Garbage Pail Kids: The Movie.  Trying to do this thing justice with words will be no easy task, but I’ll give it a shot.

This is the funniest article you’ve ever done.  Seriously.  Did you eat the cake?

LMAO. The poor cake didn’t turn out too green, did it? Oh well. You can’t judge a book by its cover, after all. Bet it tasted great!

Mario pans, huh? I wonder if there were Zelda-shaped ones… hmm, I hope there were Muppet Babies ones though. I loved that show!

I wasn’t too fond of muppet babies, I love the muppet show though.  It really sucks that my wife doesn’t like any puppets, so I don’t even get to watch dark crystal any more.  *sniff* *sniff*  I’ll change her yet

That was pantastic !!!  Oh those pan puns,  the fun never ends.

I watched the Seinfeld rerun that was on last night at 10:30PM.  It was the one where George slips his boss a mickey. What a character.

Do the premier white morsels symbolize something on the Alf cake, or do they just serve as a bit of Alf essence?

My mom once made a Thomas the Tank Engine for my brother. She bothered to mix different amounts of food coloring into the frosting to get just the right shade of blue.

Then we ate it.

Haha that cake looks like something Alf would cough up…..but man for some reason I’m craving a piece.

I hope you guys ate that cake Matt, cake should never go uneaten. Especially fad-themed cake.

Last Easter I wanted to make an egg shaped cake, but all Wilton had to offer was a crappy bunny or one of those gay umbrella-carrying ducks. So… here’s the brilliant part… I got a Wilton’s football shaped pan and just trimmed one of the ends. And THAT’S why I’m a genius.

XD!!!!!! They always said nessecity was the mother of invention, but apparently it can also be the aunt-who-sort-of-stays-in-the-shadows-but-occasionally-sends-a-birthday-gift of invention, too.

Gee… for April Fools’ Day I called one of my little sisters last night and reminded her to boot up Animal Crossing and talk to the mayor… you’re supposed to get an NES game or something, or maybe that was a joke, I don’t know.

My point is, that was one of the two times I remembered that it was April Fools’ Day.

…..

damn you! i read this site on a regular basis, and i came across the alf cake article. i was deathly afraid of alf when i was a child. someone bought me a large talking alf doll once and i was convinced it was going to eat my cats…and then me.

Great Article.  I have a Wilton mold of Hulk Hogan from back in his glory days.  I only make it once a year for Wrestlemania.  This year I updated it to make it balder and older looking.  Great timing with the Alf post.  I’m still eating my Hulk cake.  Maybe next year I’ll make mine red and green and tell people its his guts.
I might just have to get an Alf mold and show you how to do it.

Now if only we could get someone to give that cake its own show.  Maybe a ‘zany’ 3’s Company kinda show, where the landlord is always listening at the door.  Hearing just enough of a conversation to think that ‘A-Cake’ is having a torrid affair with another Golden Vanilla, Super-Moist cake.
